Cold 187em, who co-wrote this with Dre, was an amazing producer as well. He took over on Ruthless Records after Dre left and then went to Death Row as head producer after Daz Dillinger departed. He was a huge part of so much great music from that era and it is tragic that he hasn't received the recognition and respect that he certainly earned.
What's crazy is Cold 187um of Above The Law created the G Funk sound Dr. Dre got the props for... The sound was named G Funk by Pac on a song called "Call It What U Want" by Above The Law ft. Pac and Money B of Digital Underground.
Murder Rap is that joint! They used the dope sample that sounds like a siren from the classic 70s TV show "Ironside" starring Raymond Burr who also played "Perry Mason" on that classic show. Much love to old school rap. Get on that Public Enemy, guys, "Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos" you won't regret it, I promise it's 11/11
Above The Law is HARD! One of my favorite all-time songs is Return Of The Real Shit, one of the hardest beats I've ever heard, still in rotation to this day. Pls react to that shit.
I agree with y'all about the sirens. But that was the sound back in the late 80s and early 90s. Public Enemy and the Bomb Squad were the first to use a lot of noise in their tracks. Cypress Hill continued this trend and after them Wu-Tang to a certain extent.
Production values were different back then. We liked our samples and filled all the spaces. Never an empty space. I understand wanting to feel a groove, but we was busy back then
Above The Law is one of the greatest groups of all time their first album was a game changer! Don’t ever compare Little Baby to above the law that’s a joke
This was a fair review ..... Comparing Hip Hop from different era's is always subjective... You have to factor in the Musical Technology available to artist and producers throughout the History of Hip Hop. I think we can all agree, you had to be more creative back in the day. Would be Cool to see you guys review the group Channel Live ft. KRS1 - "Mad-Izm" - ua-cam.com/video/H3vs_lXebYc/v-deo.html
Dre produced them on his way out of Ruthless on his way to Death Row....sorry if someone already answered that question. Try the song Hustler, it's even better
Respect, but u Gotta listen to the whole album to get the full effect of the song. Producers made albums that was equivalent to movies , not just a bunch of hot songs with no direction like now.👍🏾
This isn't ATL's best track at all. Check out Call It What U Want (with 2Pac), Black Superman, Wicked, or damn near anything else off their Livin' Like Hustlers album.
Their second album, Black Mafia Life, was way better than this one. Peep out the songs VSOP, Never Missin a Beat, and Call It What You Want with Tupac as a feature. Also the song Black Superman from their third album, arguably their biggest hit and most known song
Gaaadaaam, don't see nobody reactin to these straight up legends from my era! Thank you!
We're trying to hit all corners of the nation.
No lies detected
I feel you homs ..staring like WTF..ja ja aj

Pac said it on wax for the first time but Above The Law was using it for a moment while they recorded Black Mafia Life

Hutch AKA 187 is a producer and helped create G-FUNK. Dre was not a solo producer even then.

I’m liking this off top just cuz you reacted to it, never thought I’d see it!

And coming hard! Hardcore! No tinker bell stuff.
You should listen UK 90's rap. Britcore was that kind of s**t X 1000
Dre murdered the F outta this beat..... the way it starts tho 🙌🏽😎
Cool video reaction fellas... Keep rockin' steady . Peace !
the whole hustlers album is a trip. it's like a time capsule of 1990 L.A, but there are better songs.
Untouchable
Ballin
Another execution
Flow on
Freedom of speech
Just kickin lyrics
The last song
This was back when the West Coast was heavily influenced by Public Enemy

Im an old head too and I will admit that Lil Baby is a better rapper than Cold 187um. Have you heard the Bigger Picture?

Good song! Honestly, I can’t stop thinking that they hit the studio to write and record this after jamming out to a Public Enemy album.😂
7.5!? WHAAAT!? 😂 At least give it a 9 1/2. This song not only went hard but it was the bar that many had to reach.

y'all should react to cypress hill - "Stoned Is The Way Of The Walk" or "The Phuncky Feel One" you won't be disappointed
This isn't ATL's best track at all. Check out Call It What U Want (with 2Pac), Black Superman, Wicked, or damn near anything else off their Livin' Like Hustlers album.
