Yep. Our sales had dropped too but BC is starting to pay off a little more each week. Watch for the next Boot Camp video tomorrow (Sunday). Thanks Laura!
I believe Domestications (the brand on the Christmas plates) was a magazine/catalog retailer. I used to purchase from them. Unique items and reasonably priced. Not sure if they are still in business. Love your videos!
The boot camp is a great idea! It gives me some structure, and I like how you divide your items into ceramics, wood, etc.. Your GW looks about as pitiful as the one closest to me; however I live in Chicago Metro and can go to six stores within 12-mile radius...I plan GW and other thrift store stop with driving to Health appointments, hair appointments, Trader Joe's, etc. What has been working for me as far as finding bargains is estate sales. I am new to this and had to get the hang of it...finally getting it with the help of my husband...he still works FT at his old geezer job, but can help me on the weekend. Went to a sale yesterday and everything was 75% off...there was still a lot left even though that was the fourth day...
Wonderful and welcome aboard Karen! Yes, our goodwill‘s are pitiful. They’ve gotten worse over the seven years that I’ve lived here. I agree that estate sales can be a great resource for things to resell. The problem is we always wait till the last day and you never know if you’ll find something or not. Lol. Hope you found some good things at 75% off! Thank you!
Excellent video. I have been going over my listings. Changing prices. The fluctuating prices of certain items is upsetting to me. Original vintage Fiestaware from the 1930's is no longer valuable. Maybe the medium green color is, but that has changed to light green. May was painfully slow. On a positive note, the items I sold were things that I have had for over 2 years!
I NEED to either do a self imposed boot camp or donate everything back or put it in the front yard and have a sale. I get started and then life gets in the way and, honestly, life and having fun is more important while we're still working. I've stopped shopping so at least I'm not accumulating more. I am so on the fence these days about reselling and I just need to get with it or stop. There once was a time when it was fun and actually profitabile enough to make it an easy decision. Good luck to you.
It is challenging to find balance between fun and earning some extra money to use towards that fun. Like with most things, I think it takes a certain amount of passion to pursue a hobby or interest. Reselling is like that. The difference though is with a hobby, we typically only spend money, not earn it. Whatever you decide, good luck to you as well. Thanks Laura!
wow,,, I had a similar re-awakening while in the hospital bed fighting off bacterial pneumonia wjth coughing up red blood stained sputum for several days I am home now weak, breathing slowly without walker for 2 days now,,, took down my 926 listings until I am able to if package and send items as before,, or maybe not I told my wife maybe we should rent a BNB in Maderia or do a world cruise,, as well slow sales has me thinking if the merry go around needs go around without Tom,,, but then I do enjoy sharing whoohoos with you and Mark,,,
So sorry to hear about your health, Thomas! I hope you are getting better and better every day. Reselling is a merry-go-round for sure. thank you and hope things get better for you soon!
I did a different style of adjusting my store for the current market. I created 4 different Markdown Manager Sales: 50, 35, 25, and 10% off. I continued to offer a 10% off coupon and kept the Best Offer feature active. I sold off a ton of old dead stock. It was important to comp items when people submitted rediculous lowball offers.....because most were fair offers as it turns out.
Yes, I don’t talk about it very often, but I do run sales and markdowns. In fact before I saw your message today, I had done another major makeover as to our pricing and sales. Thank you for sharing so that others can see what you’re doing. Thank you, Theresa!
I am trying to do 3 new listings a day but not sure I can commit to it, just working at it. I also have a question: This video shows a bunch of items that look like they are taped together. Does the tape residue stick to the item and then you have to figure out how to get it off? What would you use? Different parts of the video where it looks like tape to me ( didn't list them all) are on line counts 9:19, 9:58, 10:28, 11:32-9 white bowls you didn't pick up, 11:55, 12:26-40 and maybe more but that's enough to get the idea. Thanks. I'm always learning new things or finding things to ask questions on when I watch your video
Some of the stores use stretch wrap, and some use tape. We use goo gone to get stickiness off of anything. As far as listing for Bootcamp, just do what you can and leave a comment on each Sunday’s video letting us know how it’s going. Thank you!
Too funny! I had just started trying to list 5 items a day and it start 5 drafts day to finish and list the next day. June has started off with a bang for me! He really enjoy your video content. Especially the packing videos. I get a lot of great comments on my packing. Thanks to you!
Yes, I have thought of it. Some weeks I have a little more time than others. This week for example I have two videos that I’m working on and it’s hard to get the five, let alone more. But yes, it’s a good idea. Happy you find my packing videos helpful! Thank you, Kathy!
I love your boot camp idea! Are you thinking about having a live stream for people to join. I know I can do better with listing need to be more disciplined.
Will join the boot camp but not til mid august when I need to ramp up for last quarter. Right now we are traveling a lot so the eBay store is on the back burner. That is the nice thing about selling on eBay. You can throttle sales up when you have time then put the store in away mode when you don’t. Not too many jobs out there offer this kind of flexibility. Happy anniversary you two! Have you thrifted in the Nashville area?
Hope you traveling is full of fun! Yes, it will be there waiting for you. Thanks Brenda! No, we prefer to stay away from Nashville. Plus, it's on the other western side of TN. We looked at homes there. Very busy (and expensive) area.
I’ve been considering this for a while. I have 600 items listed. I think five per day would be doable. It’s hard to know because when things sell a large part of the day can be taken up with packaging and post office. But I am going to commit to five per day for five days a week, and if I am doing Christmas pattern books or Christmas Ross stitch items if I can do more than five, I can put them on draft like you suggested. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this situation!!
Hello Vickie & Mark!! Happy 20th Anniversary!! Hope you had a wonderful trip!! Time away is so important!! May was extremely slow for me as well. I have had responsibilities outside of eBay and have not had much time to work. This week, however, I will be back at it!! Regardless, this weekend has been a wonderful eBay weekend!! I have had 2 really good sales and a few smaller but I will take them all!! Thank you for all you do for all of us!! You are very much appreciated!! ~Tammy
We are OK. Thanks for checking on us. We had heavy rain and wind on Friday and our power went out in the morning. It’s still out all over the place here in Kingsport, TN. Ours is not expected to be restored until October 4. Thank goodness, we have a small generator to keep our main freezer and one fridge going. Our house is high on a hill and so far we have not had any water in the basement. The hurricane has been devastating for so many. In Kingsport, it’s mostly power outages. It’s crazy everywhere we go and we saw so many generators heading out of Home Depot yesterday as people realize it’s going to be days until their power is back on. Thank you again for checking on us. We appreciate it. We put our stores on time away.
@@AvanteAvenue THANK YOU! I’m so glad to hear that. My brother lives in NC and they don’t even have any drinking water. The people in his apartment complex and it’s a nice complex, have been emptying their water heaters for water. He drove south to a friends house in South Carolina. I’m in Indiana. It’s been wet and rainy and some tornado weather, but the loss in TN and NC it’s heart breaking. Thanks for getting back to me. I’m sure others are concerned too. Love to you and Mark.
That would be awful to be without water! I told Mark this morning that I’m glad that we have water and flushing toilets. Today we went out to see what we could do about cooking here at home. We’re going to try the grill tonight. We couldn’t find a camp stove that fit our needs. Many people coming in from neighboring communities that are completely shut down. I hope things improve for your brother, and of course everyone else who is struggling after this hurricane that went through. Thank you again for checking on us. We really appreciate it. Take care of yourself.
Thank you for your great video - I have lots of deathpile to list, and current listings languishing from my negligence. As soon as I recover from my two Mohs surgeries on my legs, I plan to get on the bootcamp bandwagon. ps Happy Anniversary 🎉
Another great video Vickie and Mark! I surely appreciate how much time and thought you both put into getting it all together! Your content is very helpful! Thanks for sharing!
The Goodwills in our area are crappy as well these days. Thanks for sharing what you found in your own house. I don't resell, but have been pondering going through items that I've been hanging onto way tooooo long, and maybe attempting to list them. Thanks for all the info you put out. It's encouraging to a "newbie!"
Have you considered listing 7 a day, 5 for the day and 2 scheduled for Saturday and Sunday? That way you don’t need to work on the weekend but you stay consistent for the eBay algorithm?
I'm going to join in on your boot camp Vickie. My goal will be 3 a week. I know not a good number to have sales. Mostly my health and a full time job get in the way. I will keep hope that I can up that number.
Welcome aboard, Pam! Something is far better than nothing. You just do what you can and just leave a comment on the videos on Sundays if you can please thank you!
Excellent video! I have a 24x13 shed loaded with stock You are exactly right about Boot Camp. I'm a retired reseller like you. May was very slow. But then I didn't list much. And yes it is hard to find a balance. Good ideas. Let's get going! 😊
I am happy to see you post this week as I hadn't seen anything for a couple of weeks. So my boot camp is similar to yours, I am adding at least 10 items per day and once per week I review the standing listings to check price, shipping etc and make adjustments as needed. I need to get seasonal (Summer)stuff listed as I know I have some, those will be priority. However you are very correct about quality Christmas stockings, I sold one last week. Thank you, glad to see your post!
