Michael Mann's HEAT Is Still A Brilliant Film

- People lately throw out the phrase "This movie is the blueprint". I often roll my eyes but if Heat is part of the conversation, I would have to agree. Heat is a fantastic film featuring amazing performances, incredibly intense action sequences and some great commentary on good vs evil. Heat has been copied and inspired a multitude of media over the years, for good reason. Michael Mann's masterpiece holds up perfectly and I can see why he decided to make both a Heat prequel and Heat sequel. I'm not sure he should but I get why he would.

I wouldn't want 10 seconds shaved off, every moment of this movie is great 😍
The romance with Edey is unbearable
@@thenamesmarekNo it’s not.
@@thepodbaydoorshal yes it is
@@thenamesmarek Is not.
@@thepodbaydoorshal is so
It's so good. People say "oh it needed to be cut down some, too long" hell no! I find that it hits all avenues, cinematography , acting, music, pacing, characters lives with in depth perception, motivation .
The greatest heist movie ever easily and I don’t think it is a second too long.
I agree
Number 1
The filmwork with the city lights is breathtaking in this. It's an annual viewing in our house.
Best action movie from the 90s, hands down.
That's a tough title to claim with Terminator 2 in the mix.
@@franciscanstudent hhaha true... there are way too many awesome late 80s/90s action films to contend.....
@@franciscanstudentit's opinions and taste but heat is better Than the masterpiece T2. Altough T2 aged well, heat aged better. The look of the movies have similarities but imo heat is way more flawless than T2 I can't name a single flaw. T2 has flaws altough it's also nearly flawless
That might be the worst Pacino impression I've ever heard and I love it.
Such a good, loaded cast. The shootout, acting, and even the score and music is excellent. That ending.. perfect
The bank shootout is unbeatable. Intensity to the max.
Without the "relationship crap" the cutting ties and making choices would be meaningless. The film needs that stuff to work as intended.
Perfect just in time for lunch. My dad actually told me to watch this a few months back. It was great.
5:18 it was literally a blueprint for the North Hollywood Shootout 😅 for a time I figured that event inspired Heat, but nah, happened the other way around.
This is not a movie but an event
Great Movie!!! One of my favorites. Up there with Godfather 1& 2, Scarface & Goodfellas. From the Iconic Actors, to the Cinematography, to the plot & Screenplay. Total Classic.
Heat has grown on me over the years as I did find this film to be bloated. I recently watched it and found both rivals have a host of problems in their lives. De Niro has a bad apple in his crew, he's been double crossed by a dealer. Pacino on the other hand has a marriage slowly eroding due to his job. Both characters have to make sacrifices that cause then to lose what is probably more precious to them. The final heist shoot out is bar none the best nail biting scene in recent memory.. What's funny is I found myself rooting for both the criminals and the law.
Heat is Mann’s best film with Collateral a close second. He’s lost the juice since but those 2 are classics I can rewatch infinitely
I was just thinking about Heat the other day. One of the greatest crime dramas of all time.
Reloads and real gun shots loves the sounds in this movie
I cant wait for your review on sound of freedom
Rewatched Collateral the other day. Freaking amazing!
This is a film that everybody says is great but when i saw it a the cinema back in the day, it left me cold. I liked the shootout scene but the rest bored me to tears...i have never wanted to see again🤔😕
You're not alone; I was so bored with it that I didn't even finish it.
Glad I'm not alone in this. Yes this was a loaded cast, but it was one of the most overrated movies I've ever seen.
Heat is so great. That scene where they get a cup coffee together was the director inspiration for film. He heard about the two met and had conversation before they met in action. They realized they were similar. Best bank robbery scene of all-time.
I saw it at the movies in Sydney after I graduated 1995. What a year.
Oh wow. Heat is available for free on UA-cam rn 😅
And so is Collateral
Wheres your sound of freedom review?
One of the greatest movies ever
One of my favorite movies of all time, Pacino and Deniro have other movies that I considered more iconic, but this is my favorite movie for both of them. Mann has other great things, but this is his masterpiece. I highly recommend Heat 2 which came out last summer, it's a book that's prequel and a sequel. Pretty much all the characters return, and you find out what happens to Vals character after the events of the movie.
This movie didn’t need much shaved off in my opinion. Actually I would keep it all in.
It is a legend that Val's reload clip is shown in Army Ranger training, I can confirm that this is not true. Still an awesome movie and the slickest reload ever. The bank robbery scene is an absolutely perfect representation of Urban Combat.
I love this movie! It doesn't feel like a nearly 3 hour film to me
actually watched this movie for the first time last month - blew me away!
edit this movie so it'd have less runtime !??? dont think thats gonna sit well with 99.9% of folks who've watched Heat . . . .
Thanks for the recommendation… Just saw it, great movie… it remained me of Tom Cruise’s Collateral. Nolan must have taken some notes as you say.
Non sequitor, but I don't think people stopped going to theaters cuzza the costs, or cuz they know it will stream like 8 weeks after release. I think they avoid movies cuz most offerings absolutely suck. BTW, I am watching Sisu now cuz I missed it's theatrical run (it came out in limited release while my family was moving). Really hope Adam gets a chance to see & review it
Currently watching this for the first time now
Hey im gonna go watch this movie now! Looks sick
This movie doesn’t even look 29 years old. It’s still so fresh.

Dude both critics and audiences on RT are giving sound of freedom good reviews
What are you waiting for?
Just watched it and found you. Love your energy and review. I subscribed
Thanks and welcome
Yeah, Heat is sick. I'm a lady, and I gotta watch it again. xD
I am here for the sound of freedom comments. Wow you werent joking about the bots. Lol
OKAY! Good review
Goddamn. Your video is rock solid bro 👍 🎞️

Adam do you have a list of movies you like? Maybe movies you’ve watched more than twice?
I‘m sick of people telling what not to watch, I’m interested in movies worth watching.
I'm doing a live stream tonight. The guest and I are giving our Top 10 movie of all time list and I'm sure we will talk about a whole bunch more. Feel free to join the live at 9:30PM(Est) or catch it later.
@@AdamDoesMovies thanks, I‘ll watch it later and set an alarm for the next one… 9:30 pm EST is 3:30 am where I live 🙂
excellent review
Fantastic movie. But scotch on the rocks is a waste of scotch. Of course, adding ice does make it healthy.
We have Al Pacino 2:19 ❤
Before Inside Man there was Heat.
Why ard you avoiding the sound of freedom?
You were saying?
Over the years so many people had told me this movie is so great and that I should see it, so I finally tried watching it a couple years ago and I couldn't make it through it. I wish I knew what makes other people enjoy this movie so much because I was so bored with it.
Great film.
2 Words Raising Arizona
You sound more like Chapelle’s character Tyrone Biggums when you attempt to sound like Pacino. 😆
Switched off the moment he said shave time off
what makes a man mr lebowski?
The line is "great" ass btw 🤓
Review Collateral
I think youre scared to review sound of freedom and i think i know why lol
I already put out a short leaving the theater and I have a full review coming out tonight. I mean, please tell me why I'm too scared.
I made a poll because I was testing something and this review actually proved it. These are bot accounts dude. Also, what are you talking about? I was gone all last week. I saw the movie right when I got back and I already put out a quick out-of-theater review. My full review goes up either tonight or tomorrow. People are acting like clowns over this mediocre film. It's pathetic.
@@AdamDoesMovies dude how do you praise the flash movie which was the biggest flop and say sound of freedom is mediocre? Lol
2500+ reviewers gave it 100%
Maybe reviewing movies isn't your thing🤷🏿♀️
@@AdamDoesMoviesinsane dude
What does a movie being a flop have to do with anything? What an odd movie choice to even compare to Sound of Freedom. They aren't remotely similar and I don't look for the same things from two different genres. It has like 27 certified reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Glad people are enjoying it. I gave reasons why I didn't care for it much and have a full review going out later.
Finished it thinking damn its half baked. Some neat ideas but overall pretty predictable story with way too many characters that just dont get justice and instead steal screen time from the characters i wanna see more of like vincent and Neill. None of this lame shit with random bullshit big wig dude who does nothing the entire movie and then dies pathetically, really absoueltly really restated writing and pacing. I liked al pachino and what few action sences there were as underdeveloped the context behind them was.
dang, im worried others have overhyped the film for me... i liked collateral a lot so i was gonna finally watch heat but i see many ppl saying it is overrated n long/bloated/ boring sections. i hope itisnt so :/
Probably the worst review of Heat
