I am a youth and I loved the sermon! This holy priest is my favourite! But might I say that there are a few, a few fortunate souls, among the youth who cling to Tradition and the great wisdom of our Catholic ancestors. There are some who, despite their young age, are even more orthodox compared to the older generation. And they do not brag nor are arrogant about it instead they humbly stay respectful to those who are in authority and in power all the while preserving and upholding the purity of the Faith. Pray for us Fr. Collins! May God grant us more holy priests!

This is great. Iota Unum is a book that is quite worth reading. I recall how striking I found the chapter on "juvenilism," with its traditional wisdom on the subject.

This priest hit the nail on the head! I thought the same thing when all these "kids" were protesting. I thought to myself, "Oh, oh, we are in trouble now." We glorify youth, but youth passes. It is one thing to raise a voice in issue, but it becomes a tiring gong, when it's a constant scream and they get in your face because they have not been taught boundaries. Parents have relinquished their responsibilities. They want society to raise their children.. Anyone with common sense, knows children cannot raise themselves. The youth have been brought up to have no respect for authority and it started at home when they were raised to have no respect for their parents. Parents, who have not grown up themselves and want to remain young, have left society to do the child raising. Which is what Lenin desired right? Every thing is coming to pass. Our Lady of Fatima said Russia would spread her errors. For a long time I have felt the church is forgetting her mature flock. They have much to teach. When Pope St. John Paul ll went around to the youth, he educated them. Now, all these youth gatherings have become just entertainment venues. No one talks about how we should embrace the cross, to offer sacrifice, or to do penance. Don't let anyone talk about dying to oneself. The Crucified Jesus has been lost and a worldly cotton candy jesus has been erected. And for what?, to PLEASE the youth. And some of these religious who are rapping and dancing, had better wake up, because they are being enticed by fame themselves and will not only jeopardize their souls but those they take with them to hell. Our Lady of Good Success warns of this! Take Isiah (3:4) very seriously, because it is coming to pass now! Don't let me get started on what Isaiah 3 says about women.

The year before Lord of the Flies was published, psychologist Muzar Sherif performed a sociological experiment on an unwitting group of American boys in a summer camp called Middle Grove. The first stage was to divide them into two teams and make them hate eachother. It was carefully orchestrated, and Dr. Sherif and his assistants, posing as camp counselors, went so far as to do things like burn one group's flag and tear down their tents, framing the other group. Incredibly, the boys kept forgiving eachother or refusing to believe the worst; when tents were torn down, they spontaneously worked together to fix the damage. In the end, they figured out what was happening and became wary of the 'counselors.' The experiment was a complete failure. Sherif, in a later effort, was able to make two groups of boys turn on eachother, but it took a huge amount of manipulation, and as soon as they were faced with a crisis they banded together again. Unlike Lord of the Flies, its a true story. Dont take my word for it, please...look it up. Just food for thought.

Thank you. It is very insidious what is being done to the youth today. They are being thought « to do » before they learn « to do ». They are being thought that the adults have expectations of them, but the adults do not fulfill the responsibility of teaching them. It is the order upside down. The youths are the adults and the adults the youths. It’s the same inversion of the women, now, are the new men and the men are the new women. The adults run away from their responsibility and tell the youth to take responsibility. A few years ago, my father died at the age of 94 and in the conversation that we had in his last days before doing so, he was expressing regrets that he had left to others the responsibility of our education and had churked his responsibility. I remember growing having said to myself, many times the following things: (1) « I have a father that always there but at the same time is not there » and secondly « It’s as if I am expected to know before I learn it ». The sad part is that I know I had the same attitude towards my own children. Your talk brought it home. Lord have mercy. God bless.

What a brilliant and much needed sermon on what's going on in the Church and wider culture! "Perhaps the most annoying of the bunch..." Hah! A priest calling someone out for being both arrogant and in error? God bless him! I wish more priests would have the courage to speak the Truth with the authority of their station which comes from Christ. The Prophet Jeremiah said, "Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths; ask where the good way is and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." May God sustain this priest and those like him! Amen.

    Love this Priest.
I had to come back to this one since I saw an article about another "Climate Strike" run exclusively by school children wanting to skip class.
I feel so sorry for them though, I want to just say "You're not a parasite, nor mutated from some dumb animal in the field. Remember your dignity."
If they are convinced that humanity is a plague on the earth... Imagine what that does to their self worth? To the sanctity of human life, even their own?
They are truly objects of pity, while their teachers could easily be accused of mental abuse.
Another reason why many people are home schooling, especially after Covid lockdowns when they forced parents to homeschool anyway.

Thank you father. there is no longer any respect for the wisdom of old age. So very sad to see. This is the result of removing God from the school system and lack of catechism. So much lack of humility and charity not just in the youth but in society in general. May God have mercy on us.

More and more I'm recognising I won't find the crowd I've been missing, longing for, and dream of if I keep concerning myself with the "cool" which I can not truly get behind. Life is options and choices, and when you draw your line, it actually sets it, rather than allowing a wild nature of the senses allow their valueless, perceived survival of the fittest rule us. I knew I would eventually find something ultimately useful, wise, and timeless from reviewing the ways of old that grew out of favor due to the wavering beliefs of those the spotlight adores rather than the content of their minds and actions. I don''t regret upsetting those with less patientce, tollerance, and problem solving because a GREAT foundation creates a strong structure overall, and I dont desire weak yet popular any longer as what we all gather around.

Solid! Lots of old people stop where I work and though they can be grouchy and frustratingly slow and inconsiderate I've also learned techniques from some who just want to share their knowledge. it'd be great if our pope could organize a conference of the old too, and speak about balanced, experienced wisdom...you know, now that he's spoken on joy and enthusiastic evangelism. The Jordan Peterson phenomenon proves that youth respond to challenge and responsibility.

sue200012 In my first grade classroom, they do! Any time another adult enters the room, the child en have been taught to stop doing their work or play, and to say “Good morning/afternoon, Mrs./Mr./Miss/Sr./Fr...” and they do not sit, speak, or resume activity until they are given leave to do so. I expect and enforce “first-time obedience.” Unfortunately, they regress after leaving the lower grades, K-3, because it is no longer expected or required.

Juvenilism is U.S. popular culture.Unfortunately, U.S. media companies have been exporting this culture for the past 70 years. I never thought I would say this, but youth culture is so boring and predictable. I was bored by my early 20s. No wonder so many young people seek drugs. They are looking for something more meaningful and they wrongly turn towards alcohol and drugs.

  • @aldomartinez588
    @aldomartinez588 6 років тому +1

I’m going to say I disagree with much, but not all with what is said. It’s talked about how the youth go against its elders, in some cases yes and yes it can hold a negative effect. However, the traditions of the Catholic Church itself have slowly been fading away for years, none of which is fault of the youth as much of the fade has come much before at least this youth in particular. I believe I have found the true church with most of its traditions (still learning much), however if there was never anything inside the youth that demanded answers from the authority there would never be any truth to be found. If I never questioned my elder or authority I would sit where I am with utter doubt in my soul consuming my faith entirely until slipping away towards heresy and/or Protestantism. The modernism being talked about in this very sermon is also the modernism that is being taught to the youth. What I see is completely reversed and is what is troubling the youth even further. At times it seems as the things said about respect to elders is for a small misbehaved rowdy boy throwing a temper tantrum and yelling for no reason. When the youth developed validity in their discussions or arguments, many elders have a “because I said so” attitude which can be translated to respect your elders which by all means is a proper teaching, in the right context. The modernism that is the heresy of the Church is now taught first by the elders now. The youth don’t know what the tradition is because it isn’t being taught anymore. If the youth don’t question the teachings then yes it is very possible to fall into Protestantism because it is what the church is allowing. There does need to be a revolution powered by the youth to seek THE TRUTH. Because that isn’t found and taught by elders any more (in most case, the few that do help us a lot but are very hard to find) the only way to find this is to look for it, ask questions, research and, if required, show the elders as they are also souls to be saved as well.
I hope there is guidance to be given for those young who seek the one and only true church to combat the agenda of the devil.

In one church ive seen more youth do stations of the cross and confession then anywhere i was amazed how i saw a young girl evangelize to a friend and say "lets go to confession ill go with you" in no disrespect to the holy preist i love them its just Jesus even said to not stop the children coming to him for it is they who are the kingdom of God. You make some good points and questions. I think maybe what you are describing actually is somewhat in line with what Father is saying: it pertains to education and instruction of youth, in faith and other matters, but not letting them "rule". Having youth involved is a different thing than having them lead. Right?

A lot of people are misunderstanding what's being said here: it's primarily that youth must be subjected to the old in terms of the specific people that happen to express those forces at a give time (this is merely a derivative), but that the *principle* of youth must be subjected to that of the *principle* of the old; and the oldest is the infinite, which is outside of time, and paradoxically, does not age.

I’m confused. Are we not supposed to have ministries to service the youth? What exactly is the answer to all these youths living in sin? Are we to ignore it and tell them “come back when you’re older”? I agree that I don’t think the solution is changing the Church to reach out to the youth (I. E. In a study on the development of the mind, it was discovered that the minds of the male comes to maturity at the age of about twenty five years old and that of the female around the age of twenty. We would not ask of a three year old to do what we expect of a child that is ten. In the same way the youth is being asked to have an attitude and to do what is expected of a mature adult before he reaches the maturity to do so. God bless.

2:55 Youth may indeed require some authority, but not the degree which stops them from marrying year after year - if authority is even a word for that.
Youth very certainly is a time for marrying:
"Let thy vein be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of thy youth:"
    [Proverbs 5:18]
In Polish the bride and bridegroom are called "mloda panna" and "mlody kawaler", mlody, mloda, mlodo meaning young, and panna meaning young lady. I don't think you need a translation for "kawaler". (Niestetny, Poles, I had no barred l's to spell it correctly ...)
Today we have parents and grandparents saying "no, she can't marry at 26, she still behaves like 15" ... guess what age was very typical at least among people who could afford it, for a bride in the Middle Ages?
And you cannot reply that young marriages require the couple to be subject to parental authority of grandparents, since the Church clearly taught that while marrying against the will of the parents is usually a mortal sin (Trent), it nevertheless does not make the marriage invalid (St Thomas Aquinas).
The generation which went wild against their parents and grandparents in 1968 is again going wild against normal freedoms of their grandchildren.

    • @hglundahl
      @hglundahl 6 років тому

      You are also contradicting experience:
      nov9blogg9.blogspot.fr/2016/04/highly-recommended-reading-osn.html
Orange Street News is not made by a mature reporter, but by the young daughter of one.
That alone should put to shame the youth in St Nicolas du Chardonnet which has not felt mature enough to read my blogs and edit paper editions of them ... while the curés have in their turn not felt mature enough to either approve or condemn their contents.
If they are approved, they deserve to be a gain as well as an occupation, to others as well as of me. If they are condemned, they rather deserve to give their author some opportunity for debate or for accepting a correction, if I deem it a Catholic one.
Landing them in a longstanding limbo, scandalising those who among Atheists here wish me well, who would gladly edit if I made a good defense of Evolution, pushing me to a choice between abandoning my good work or getting physically burdened to degraded - I choose the latter, but partly in blindness, believing in more goodwill than there was over there - just because it is awkward to some that an "obviously immature" or "idiotic" work cannot be exposed as un-Catholic, and pretending to help me to "mature" into abandoning my positions myself - that is the work of a synagogue of Satan. NOT a worthy work of the Church. NOT a worthy work of tradition (even if there are shades between you and SSPX).

This is only part right. There is a need to reach younger kids at their level to compete with the other influences on kids these days. Nothing wrong with that

hector _ I listen to these sermons with my 8 year old and he does fine. He is far more knowledgeable about the faith than most 18 year old novus ordo children. Religion must be ruled by the intellect, not emotion.

"At their level" may be achieved by teaching them tradition and sound doctrine, don't you agree? Seriously. We don't need to underestimate the intelligence of youth nor doubt their desire for learning the hard truths. To teach them thus is not to baby them and inadvertantly idolize them by promoting and celebrating wildly youthful/childish behavior. How about teaching them reverent behavior? That is dignified. It is to respect that they are becoming adults and guiding them accordingly. But to promote the "festival" style, "party faith" is to treat them like children, not the young adults they are becoming, and it promotes the idea that they are front and center, thus feeding their egos and self-absorption. Rather, we can help them learn to reverence God, placing Him at the center. The WYD mentality destroys reverence.
      It's a mistake.

So the youth have no purpose, Father? Just shut up and do nothing? That was a pretty lousy rip on lifeteen and world youth day. Sounds like he's never witnessed either. I can agree with about half of what he says, but the other half is just his opinion.

lishkoburger12 the youth needs guidance. Look up to St. John Bosco.
You should also do a research on Lifeteen with their banal liturgies, and sometimes spreading heretical nonsense. WYD is no different than Woodstock.

Again, youth on their own can’t achieve nothing. They need the guidance of the Elders. It’s no surprise that modern society rejects Tradition. Modern society acts like immature teenagers.

How wrong you are about the youth of today!!! I wish I had been as brave as they are when I was their age!! Why is it so wrong to ask for comprehensive gun control laws that guarantee ALL OF OUR SAFETY in this world that we live in today!!!!!! You have taken the words of MY GOD and twisted them around to try and discredit the survivors of a school shooting/massacre who are simply giving a voice to those who can no longer speak for themselves and another thing Father. You are a priest/pastor, you are not supposed to take sides on a political issue! Stick to doing Baby Baptisms and First Communions which is what you should be doing in the first place!!! This is why in this country, the greatest country in the world, we have separation of church and state!!!!! GOD Bless America!!!

I stand corrected. You are right about this priest quoting Isaiah Ch.3 correctly. HOWEVER, for this priest to use the word of God to try and discredit a group of children who have every right to tell the adults that they are wrong about trying to change the status quo and openly voice the truth about gun control laws or lack thereof is WRONG! My God said in the Beatitudes that "Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me. Rejoice and be glad for your reward will be great in Heaven." (Mt 5:3-12) Now what does all this mean in light of what this so-called pastor/priest/holy man of God is saying in this video? It means that when he compares a book like the Lord Of The Flies with a group of survivors from a massacre at a school in our country he is using scare tactics to try and frighten the flock into doing and or believing what he wants the flock to do and or believe. That is no way for a man of God to behave. If he has a problem with children telling the adults that we need comprehensive gun control laws in our country, the greatest country in the world, then maybe he should move to Russia where the government simply throws nerve gas on anyone who dares to criticize the government for any reason at all. By the way in your quote of what the priest said you couldn't quote what Isaiah chapter 3 actually says but you had no problem remembering this quote: "Revolutionaries like to indoctrinate the youth in their formative years and then use them to lead a rebellion. And so now we are subjected to the most arrogant youth imaginable, being given a pulpit, being given a microphone, and a camera, to lead a crusade... While we, the older ones are commanded to listen to their wisdom, and not to interrupt, and never be critical... The youth become change agents and puppets in the hands of revolutionary puppet masters." I think this tells me how little you actually know about the word of God and I think this priest, if he really is a priest, is afraid of children questioning his authority and refusing to do what he tells them to do simply because he believes that we can never question his authority in any way shape or form. By the way, the priest has no right to impose his will or way of thinking on anyone. He is a servant of God and my God would never tell a child to stop fighting for what's necessary to guarantee the safety of every man, woman, and child not only in our schools but in our society as well. Any more questions, comments, or attempts to tell me that I am wrong when in reality you and this so called man of God are the ones who are wrong? You have the right to reply to this comment. Please go right ahead. I live in America and I am an American citizen who is exercising his First Amendment Right of freedom of speech and freedom of religion(I'm Catholic)!!!!!!!!!! I don't live in RUSSIA!!!! One more thing, to all of you people who don't like what I have to say about this video and it's misguided man of God this is all I have to say to each and every last one of you: GOD BLESS Y"ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have said what I know is true AND since you can't find any fault in anything that I have said in regards to the Bible and my Lord Jesus Christ it's obvious you can't win by using God to influence people to obey you and that's why now you are resorting to bringing up stats that may or more than likely are not true and the NRA too. Please. I'm done wasting my time answering you hypocrites!! See you in church and once again GOD BLESS Y'ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
