Thank you so much for your video! I am a Canadian white girl who now follows the SIkh faith... it is such a beautiful philosophy and religion. I was born and baptized into Catholicism, and could never feel right with a faith that puts women into a subordinate position to men, as do all the Abrahamic religions. I thought I would not be accepted since I am not Punjabi... but I was so surprised! They accepted me wholeheartedly and told me I am welcome and they hope I keep retuning to Gurdwara!

WOW this was great! I have been telling people that one of the things that most attracted me to Sikhism first was equality. This was very well done. Had to save to watch again. Thank you.

      nothing to be ashamed of..
I was born in India and I didn't know much about my own faith until I came to US and was more knowledgeable in the 1st two years vs me being in India for 9-10years
most of the time your environment has an impact on your knowledge

Jis, the quote is fromGuru Granth Sahib ji, saying that we are all just women to God, "Is Jag Mei Purakh Ek Hai, Hor Sagli Naari Sabaaee" (Guru Amar Daas ji) "In this world, there is one husband lord, all other beings are his brides". However you are absolutely correct that Vaheguru has no gender. This is more of a relative concept, ie for us humans vaheguru is like a Husband, but as a being, vaheguru has no gender. Hope that helps ji.

The last point he made about how women get to be women and not girls....YES! Now that I have a daughter who is starting puberty we have talked a lot about body hair and how normal it is, that men and women grow it, and that she does not have to shave it to look like a little girl. I hope that by me not shaving my body it will set a good example for her. Love this point. ❤️

I dont think denying people financial independance just so they remain in a relationship is the way to build a happy society. Financial independence is not incompatible with social and marital inter-dependence. Freedom is good, as long as it comes with wisdom and spiritual knowledge. Obviously parents should spend time with kids, but even unemployed mothers can be bad parents.

I have added you on FB! You should do a video about the increasing numbers of non-Punjabi people coming to the Sikh faith around the world, even without Sikhs trying to convert people. Sikhi just makes sense to me (have read Guru Granth Sahib in English), it does not go against science, and teaches true equality (Punjabi culture aside), and how to experience the divine within you while in this lifetime, instead of waiting for some promised heaven after this life based only on blind faith.

Wow, so nice to hear that Synergie9999. Yes, I'm biased but Sikhi is awesome. I'm so glad the Canadian Sikhs were so welcoming. Which city are you in? Do join our group on facebook and make friends with our profile. Also when you start doing the prayers like chanting Vaheguru and Mool Mantar, then watch the "Sikhi in English" series for longer explanations of Gurbani

I was born a Sikh in the UK but went to Gurdwaras and learned and read and women are equal to me. With my wife a totally equal partner. Yes we disagree but respect on both sides ..me a Indo-Brit she a German lutherian.... Got married and she wanted to keep her surname, I was fine and son double surname. She was surprised, I was why ?

8:20 - Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. You said that the only male in this world is God but I thought Sikhs believed God was beyond gender? Christians use the same comparison of the church being the bride to Christ. But if God is genderless/encompasses both genders then couldn't the reverse be used - that we are all men loving our bride? Or as for myself as a gay woman it would be loving God like my wife. ;) If not I think it's damaging to compare men with God while women are always mortals, it implies a disbalance, though that may be the view I got from the Christian idea I grew up with. By the way, I love your channel!

God is formless and has no gender. That is just an analogy the Guru uses of how we should approach God.

@@jaskiratsingh9670exactly why can't some peoples understand it and guru sahib also uses analogy of mother-son, loving friend etc to approach waheguru ji. But at same time guru ji tell us in simple words god is beyond gender.

I had a question. So I’ve heard something and I don’t know if it’s true. What I’ve heard is Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji ignored his wife for a really long time so isn’t that a bad thing if it is true because that is technically gender inequality. Again, I don’t know if it is true.

    • @oneness2404
      @oneness2404 2 роки тому +2

      Obviously it is not true.
Lemme tell you, in today's world you'll encounter a lot of people and situations that will try to break or weaken your faith, connection and love for Guru Sahib ji. What you gotta do is follow Dhan Dhan Baba Nand Singh ji's advice "If, anything you hear or read abt Guru Sahib ji creates doubt in your mind or makes you question your Guru or break that connection with Guru Sahib ji, then just leave it. And if something you listen or read brings more love and trust for Guru Patshah ji then take it, make that teaching or statement reside in your heart for the rest of your life." ♥️♥️
Dear, this path of Guru Patshah ji is extremely beautiful, once we start building that connection with Guru Patshah ji by following their teachings and devoting ourselves to them, then literally mircales happen.
May Guru Patshah ji bless you.
      Waheguru ji Ka Khalsa
      Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Gender equality have as well brought many of the negative, today you hardly find any familiy sticked togheter due to both man and woman working all day long. Which leaves childrens on the blessing of the govt. This shows why most families in western society have broken up due to everyday quarell. Today women have become so much independent that she need no man in her life i know a sikh man ( nice fellow ) whos woman left him as soon she started earning.
