    Ya bro that's cool you got trails to ride right by the house, gotta love that!! I just bought a new 420 predator to replace my 212 on my go-kart cuz I want the thing to do wheelies, so we'll see what happens. Appreciate your video👍🏻

    • @ians1464
      @ians1464  2 роки тому +1

      I always wanted to do wheelies on these things too. To be able to do that you're gonna want a very short frame something made for a 5 horsepower Small tires no suspension in the front a weight thing put all the weight on the back and it's gonna be maybe A670 not sure you can do that with A420. Most lowest gears smallest sprocket in the front biggest in the back. Smallest that will fit on the front drive train and something closely matching the size of the back tires. At a minimum 40 series torque converter. Cars and camera did this I think they called it the Widowmaker

    • @norcal8718
      @norcal8718 2 роки тому +1

      Yup the cart is exactly everything you described, short, no suspension etc I've seen karts doing wheelies with the 212 predators so the 420 has got to be able to do it, I would imagine so anyway. I guess we'll see when I'm done doing some mods to it and bolt it on my kart. I'll put up a video when I'm done🤞🏻

      Garyntara7788 Burbank hey thanks too bad you're not my neighbor I'd let you try them out. I finally got this one running today tried to make a video with my new camera I couldn't get it to work right. The factory jet was about .039 the ones that come with the upgrade are supposed to be .041 and 42. They didn't work had a drill bit that was 45 it didn't work the next smallest drill bit I could find was .057. It seems to be working pretty good it's pretty strong. I'll try to make a video of it tomorrow did you see the 670cc it's pretty cool too.

The first one was a free mini quad that I put a six and a half horsepower on with a torque converter that was pretty squirrely. It says the factory setting for a 40 series comet clutch is 1600 RPMs. It's slightly engaging at too low of an RPM If the knockoffs are the same it should have heavyweights I'm going to try The Red Springs which are the next stronger if the ones that are in it are comparable and buff the inside part of the clutch so the parts are smoother maybe it will last longer before it needs to be taken apart and lubed.

      Cool go-kart though i like em so the only way to fix the creeping is to turn the idle down a 1-2 half turns (turn the screw out ) and the creeping is fixed the way how to turn the idle down there is a plastic like screw on the carb (top) NOT BY THE CARBORETOR BOWL just turn the plastic screw out 1-2 half turns and the creeping should stop I had the same problem on my go-karts I just turned the idle down and it stopped love ur go-karts if u have any more questions just ask (gopowersports.com) have a great day

      They're just standard riding lawn mower tires. I think maybe around 20" by 1250 probably ordered them on eBay as a built set they were not expensive and the hubs just need to fit a 1" axle pretty common. I got a flex proof axle don't think you can bend that has a zinc coating so it's easy to change the set up.

    • @ians1464
      @ians1464  2 роки тому

      Completely depends on your gearing it has plenty of power put a big sprocket on the wheel it's easier to swap out sprockets on the clutch. Had the smallest socket that would fit on the engine drive and it would go a little over 20 and then bumped it up to where it would go over 40 still tons of bottom end that's as fast as I wanted to go on this one.

    • @ians1464
      @ians1464  4 роки тому

      Most yard cards have about a 6 and 1/2 horsepower. If you have both Wheels spinning a live axle your best for off-road get a CVT or a torque converter a 30 series would work with a six and a half this one's a 420cc and I've got a 40 series yes they have belts. The easiest thing to do is buy the plate that attaches to the motor and it will have the correct belt tension

    • @ians1464
      @ians1464  4 роки тому

      It can probably be run both ways I've just never seen them run any other way. I know it does matter if it is designed for a belt that has different angled sides you have to then make sure the belt is on the pulley right.

    • @brandonmorgan6395
      @brandonmorgan6395 4 роки тому

      You don't always need one if you have a small light go kart 6 and a 1/2 horsepower especially if you stay on the road you don't need it. Get a 10 $15 Amazon RPM hour meter. I had to adjust the spring setting for the governor it wouldn't even move and I wouldn't know how to adjust it unless I had the RPM hour meter but you have to put stiffer Springs on until you get the right RPM where you want them make sure the Springs are loose because if it pulls on the arm at all it's going to make it take off and rev High. The 22 horsepower does have way more torque than the 13 so you can just gear it to fast it'll still have bottom end torque. Weight matters also obviously the lighter it is the better a cheap 40 series torque converter will work. • @ians1464
      @ians1464  6 років тому +1

      With a 670 on it and taller gears it goes over 40. The front tires hop it 40 I've got some stiffer shocks coming in and hopefully it works well the cancel that it's got enough bottom in I can easily tear it to go faster I'm not sure if that's a good idea though. I think the 420 geared the same would be similar at the same RPMs this one definitely has more torque. I had have your Springs that I was going to put in I override the governor to see if it would be worth it to bother taking the governor out and I just ran into a couple of times got it up to 5000 RPMs and now it won't start I think I may have bent a rod wasn't terribly impressed though I think it was because the gears were so low. Because you know that doesn't change the torque just the top speed with the RPMs to send you the rated at 4000 RPMs and I'm comfortable pushing it to 4300 with a cheap hour meter / RPM gauge

      Ian s what do i need to do to gear my go kart faster? Currently im running 10t clutch and 54t axel sprocket. I get 34mph max with my 212 but i need more mph. Thinking of going to a 420

      It starts feeling sketchy over 40 I'm sure it has to do with the steering geometry. The 750cc runs true at 75

    Awesome kart! I like the detail you put into it.
    Did you ever figure out the creep issue at idle. Is it possible the belt was set up too tight?
    That 420 really seems to have a lot of power!😁

      Thanks it was the engagement of the torque converter the Springs and the weights. I sold this one almost done with the 750cc.

    What kind of go kart is that . I’ve always tried finding a simple adult size go kart with a little suspension

    • @ians1464
      @ians1464  4 роки тому

      It was in pretty bad shape when I got it. No suspension or axle at all. I put a mini quad frontend on it and a yearf dog backend. I sold it awhile back.
      A yerf dog would probably be your best bet for the money

    How much

    • @ians1464
      @ians1464  3 роки тому

      You mean how much did it cost to make or how much did I sell it for because when I sold it it had a duster 94 CvT and a 670 cc Harbor freight. Found the frame in bad shape good frame 75 bucks. Put Mini quad suspension on the front and a yerffdog suspension in the back. It certainly would be cheaper to buy something but it was fun to make

      Not really the frame needed work but was only 75 bucks still a good start the 40 serious torque converter and Harbor freight 420 engine worked just fine on it. It was just as fun to figure out
