Wow, I really appreciate the thoughtful way that you are going through this minimalism journey. It’s so complicated and your nuanced reflections are so helpful to hear. My husband and I still, after 27 years, butt heads about the STUFF.
I’m so happy you are back! The new house is stunning. I’m sorry it was such a difficult transition but look forward to seeing where this next chapter takes you!
I’ve been watching your videos since the van, and they always bring me so much joy - whether it’s your thoughtful reflections on minimalism and eco friendly options or more vlog style of your daily life. I’m sorry this has been a stressful move for you, but so interesting that you’ve been able to discover more about your philosophies around minimalism - and also your husband’s which sounds like it has the frugality aspect as a foundation. Minimalism is so varied and complex!
Wow! So exciting, stressful, creative. . . and ALL of the things, right? We moved from our “McMansion” in a city 4 years ago to a much smaller farmhouse on acreage in a rural area. It’s less than an hour away from our former place, so we had a little more overlap (as you spoke of in your house tour video I just watched.) It was good for us. One thing I realized is that it takes some time to learn to live in a house. It’s true! I will say that this house is more of a home than we’ve ever had, partly because it was my favorite aunt’s dream, and so many things remind me of her-for example, when they poured the patio in the back of the house, she forgot and went out the back door and her tiny little footprint is right outside the door! That’s part of what makes it so special to me. But I’m prattling on. . . CONGRATULATIONS on your new home! 🌻
I completely understand what you are saying. I panic when people give me a small gift, i couldn't imagine buying a house fully furnished. Congratulations on your beautiful new home!!! ☺️❤
Hey! So glad you're back, and congratulations on your new home. I'm curious to see your solution for an office/workspace in a one bedroom home. Since, at least previously, you worked entirely from home. 🎉
I been on a minimalist journey and I still find myself saying I don’t have a lot of clothes but yet my closet is full of stuff. 😅 thanks for your inspiration 🎉
Good to see you! I’m really good at hiding things away as well, to the point where I think a move would really help me look at things with a more critical eye. Hopefully your space will feel like your ideal soon!
Cingratulations!! My first property was furnished. Previously it was a rental property, about 450 sq feet. I feel ya 😊. Met my husband moved in with him, sold both our apartments and now live in about 850 sq feet house, but 3 bedrooms (small rooms 😅 - a 1930s terraced house in ireland is a lot smaller than US ) I tend towards minimalism, but my husband doesnt. Compromise takes time and we all change attitudes over time naturally.
Thanks for the impressions :) I am probably going to be in a very similar situation, regarding squarefootage, possessions, partner. Looking forward to the tour too! happy settling in to you two :)
I can't wait for the house tour! I'm excited myself to buy a home, but we can't afford to yet. Hopefully the market will be better in a few years when we can afford it.
I was so excited to see your video at the top of my feed just now! I look forward to the videos to come in your new place. 😀 I moved earlier this year and similarly had a shock to the system about how much stuff I had in my place and that I needed a bigger moving truck than I thought. 😅 I’m still going through stuff and downsizing, slowly but surely.
Hi Rebecca, I’m a new subscriber. I want to be off grid while having the option of having batteries hooked up to the grid. Ideally an Earth-ship or converting a church, fire station ect. What about an Angel investor or a foreign bank 🧐 Don’t give up and think around the bank 😊
Congratulations to you both on your new home. Looks so inviting, and what a spectacular view, wow. Breath taking. I too did notice something around you, what looked like helpers. Hope you’ll be happy here!
That house looks great! Can't wait to see a tour. I'm odd, so keep random dishes and utensils seem icky 😅 It's hard yet fun to collect items and make them useful. I don't wanna hoard and keep things I'm not using. Plus less clutter means easier to dust/clean.
This was SO interesting! I had to subscribe so I could see the house tour and more on what you decided to keep and what to give away. I consider myself (after a big declutter in 2017 ) as a cosy minimalist: MUCH more than the bare essentials but very pared down in decor and extras for just in case.
I used to live in an bigger apartment (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, big kitchen, big dinning are, a little garden...) and a couple of months ago we moved to a small place, kind of a studio with 1 bedroom (tiny for 2 adults and 2 cats) and we had to get rid of most of our furniture that didn't fit. Now I'm looking for a place that also include everything, like your house, because I want to be free to be able to move when I want, travel, etc 😊
So good to see you back, Rebecca! I've missed you and Gypsy. (Love that sweet puppy face. ♥) You have certainly been busy. Congratulations on your new home! ♥ I'm so excited for the house tour; loved the little glimpses in this video. I have to say, this space looks much more cozy to me than your rental did, so I was happy to hear that you realize you do like some decor. Of course, it will change as you and Murphy put your own stamp on the house. 52 glasses!! That is pretty excessive for any home, IMHO, but for an airbnb, it seems ridiculous! LOL I hope you convinced Murphy to let a lot of those go. 😊I'm looking forward to see more videos. Happy Wednesday! ♥♥♥
can you get or build more storage- thers so much you can get rid off right?:)....from your videos litreally didnt seem to me that you are hoarding in any way! seemd just the right amount to be settle and comfortable. when you cramp it in a car- it might just seems aloat - i went through it too..
Congratulations on your new home! 🎉 Your journey as a minimalist moving into a new space is truly inspiring. By the way, we've sent you an email , can't wait for you to check it out! 📧✨
Lovely to see you happy in your new house! My feedback on the filming location is that the background is really busy and distracting. I’m sure you’ll find the perfect spot.
Good to have you back! Congratulations on the new house! Um not gonna lie I love the old house but I can't wait to see the house tour 😊 It's crazy how we think we don't own too much stuff until we have to move..
Your new house looks very inviting and cozy. I would love to see a full house tour when you are ready. BTW - did anyone else notice the floating orb around Rebecca at the start of the video? Perhaps a smudging is in order...
Orbs generally mean angels, not ghosts. A good sign. ♥ Linda, can you give us a time stamp and approximate location of the orb. I went back and only saw a very quick streak of light at about :52, up to the right of Rebecca. Was that what you meant?
@@lindar6151Thank you! It took quite a few tries, but I did see them at those times, plus at :52. The :52 one was not as close to Rebecca. I personally would say that Rebecca has some spiritual helpers around her. 😇♥ Still a good idea to smudge. 😊
I love your new house. Congratulations. We moved out of 1200 square feet, three bedrooms into a garage apartment with 320 square feet. We stored a lot of stuff in a shed at our old house until we sold it. Then it was downsizing again to what we really love to fit the extra into another shed. I can’t wait to move out of this apartment and see and use our kept items again, but we live here as long as my husband’s mother needs us close. She is 94 now and still living in her bigger home.
Your new house is so cute and open! We’re hoping to move soon but I’m torn between going small or going huge. We have 3 boys, mom and dad and two cats. 😅
Great to have you back!! Congrats - it’s gorgeous!! I really love that you’re redefining your definition of minimalism through intention - makes me excited to see what’s next for you (and your home!)❤❤❤
Felt your first point so much. Moved from 5 bed farmhouse to 500sqft studio, finding I need to be more of an extreme minimalist (which means getting rid of stuff I’d otherwise keep if the space were larger) to achieve the same level of ‘feel’ of minimalism my old place had
I feel the same with the decor - i love minimalism but i love the textured warmtoned boho minimalism house style more than the typical swedish white black grey minimalism - and that is okay! You are doing great the house looks amazing sending love from Austria

Treasures: glad you are displaying yours now. IMO, they deserve to be displayed, used or shared instead of ignored in boxes 😊

Thank you for watching all these years!! Frugality is definitely Murphy’s minimalism foundation-agree!
We just moved too and I'm so overwhelmed I can't believe we have so much stuff for bathrooms kitchen etc
Downsizing is very hard. We did/are doing it. I am feeling very good about it. So happy to see you back! 🏠 😊

Yes!! I’ll show you in the house tour. It’s not perfect but it works for now.

Love the new house. It definitely has your personality. Great to have you back. Looking forward to more house tours.
Omg that view!!! Does gypsy love it?!
She is definitely a happy girl here ❤️
Congrats on the house! I can't wait to see how you'll adapt to the new space!
The window is amazing! The view! I am excited for y'all!
So happy to see you again!! I’m looking forward to your next video! Love that your back. Thank you for sharing your journey!

Good to see ya again!!!
That is crazy! Who would have guessed? 😊
Missed you!
Wowwww 52 glasses? That's a lot, and all of them are just sitting there occupying space. Just keep 6, and it feels light in life.
I would of emptied the cupboards and boxed up contents and brought your stuff in and then declutter yours if needed
Congratulations!!!
What are the walls made from? They look like cork.
❤
Awesome video

What are you confused about, Elle?

!!! I didn’t see that. I’ll have to rewatch. And smudge :)
Orbs generally mean angels, not ghosts. A good sign. ♥ Linda, can you give us a time stamp and approximate location of the orb. I went back and only saw a very quick streak of light at about :52, up to the right of Rebecca. Was that what you meant?
Excellent suggestion, Linda. Orb or not, it's always a good idea to smudge a new space. ♥
Lots of different times: :33, 1:09, 4:06, 4:22, 4:52. I had to stop there as my dog wants her lunch :)@@jemma50

I'd vote for medium for a family that size. Too small and you will be tripping over each other and huge just means a ton more housework. 😊

Congratulations! Buying your own first home is a real game changer!
Congrats on the new house! Glad you're back.

Congrats!
So glad to see you! 🤗
