Do you think this would work with a 6AV21240GC010AX0 SIMATIC HMI TP700 COMFORT? I ran the exe. file on my laptop but during download it still says missing panel image. I do not know how to transfer the panel images on that particular HMI from the USB stick.
You may run the .exe and only 'Extract' the files not install, when complete place the .fwf file on your 8GB FAT32 USB stick, insert into your HMI, navigate to your HMI's control panel, search for Service & Commissioning, OS Update, select your USB and load the file.
Thanks for your video dude!
The automatic update function is still not working at TIA V18 Upd. 3…at least when you are working with a Virtual Maschine…but i think this doesnt matter in that case.
You might have better luck talking from you VM to HMI/PLC by either setting your networking to bridged mode, or using an usb to ethernet and passing the USB to the VM. Often the VM is connected to your host LAN with NAT, which often creates problems.
Hey there, thanks for the tips and yes, we're aware of all those options! Those topics are probably a good video on their own. When shooting this video (mostly in case anyone runs into this issue), I believe I tried all those options -> for sure Bridged mode is critical! I'm wondering if a USB adapter like you suggested might have worked. In either case, I was in a routed network and I think it wouldn't have found it. I would be interested to know if you get it to discover the panel in this way.
@@outlierautomation I do all my development on VMs on ESXi. With ESXi the VMs run on a server. When I'm in the office theres a PLC network that the VMs are connected to for programming and firmware updates.
When I'm in the field my programming laptop connects back to the office over VPN, and in to the ESXi server. I can pass any USB device back to the ESXi VM from my laptop. I usually pass the USB-Ethernet, but sometimes USB-Serial, USB to Profibus, and PLCs with built in USB. Performance can be a bit sketchy when Im on a slow LTE connection, but I've never had it not work. One of the fringe benefits of this arrangement, is any laptop with a usb port and usb-ethernet can be used to program, is I can get a customer to set up a laptop with usb-ethernet on a machine anywhere in the world that has internet, and access my development VMs for troubleshooting.
