I REPLAYED the part where she spoke of her mother at LEAST 10x. Omg. "It is a real gift.... to have a mother who LOVES you". I just melted at that statement.
I had the opportunity to work with her during her tenure. She's even more amazing in person. It was such a blessing for me to be in her space. Bless her!

Phylicia Rashad still looks beautiful!! and vibrant and healthy looking. Mrs. Rashad mother looks so beautiful!! 100 years old. That's a blessing from God to make 100 years of age. God bless!! Mother Allen.
If America really wants to get it right, they will find a way to honor this beautiful gem who so generously poured so much into our lives for so many years…unrewarded!!! Make it right!!!! 👸🏿 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾👸🏿
I am willing to take repossable for the one who had always been their for my very exsitens much appreciated an will be honored as such a promise will be a pormise keeped
The manner in which Dean Rashad speaks of Chadwick Bosemen always causes me to become emotional…….Chadman was a STELLAR GENTLEMAN……An EXTRAORDINARY TALENT🖤💫✨⚡️💫
Is she a national treasure or what? We need to do more to celebrate Dean Rashad for her continued commitment and extensive contribution to the arts and to the culture.
I love this story. Thank you for sharing this valuable story of several lives that are so impactful to the world. The pride that I am feeling as a university student in this moment.
Kudos to her for getting Arts established within her 3 year term. Three years it's not a long time, they should at least given her a 5 year term. The first year in half is the previous dean agenda being established. But I'm glad she got some thing done and increased funding.
Gratitude for sharing. I recently got accepted into Howard's Master Divinity Program. Peace to Chadwick Bosemen. Peace to Debbie Allen , Phylicia Rashad and their Fam.
@@yourstruly_777 Phylicia Rashad is now retiring from being dean of fine arts at Howard University. She says it is time for her to retire and that she came back to Howard a few years ago to oversee the reopening of the fine arts school which apparently was shuttered. She says now that she has a good faculty in place, a good plan for the school she feels safe leaving it in the hands of the faculty she hand picked, and she also did a good bit of fundraising ensuring some endowments that will last for several years.
Many years ago the Fine Arts program was merged with Social Sciences to consolidate resources, inc leadership & funding. However Fine Arts has always been a rich, unique highlight of Howard legacy (Debbie Allen, Ruby Dee, Taraji P., Chadwick) - deserving of its own focus & support. Dean Rashad made it happen.
@roxybryant5076 awesome!!!! I haven't kept up like I should, but it's great to hear how she has supported FA's progress. I met her at my graduation from Howard many years ago.
I LOVE this. I enjoyed this piece on Ms. Rashad. I love her and have so much respect for her and her craft. Her contribution to the entertainment world of Fine arts, Tv, film, industry and so on. She's such a pose and gracious intelligent woman in my opinion. Bless her mother and father for a job well done with their off springs.
❤❤❤My daughter is Fine Arts graduate of Howard U! So Awesome that the students still have that program! Thank you Dean Phylicia Rashad! We do miss our Chadwick Boseman ❤
She played a mother to all of us of a certain age. She never lost her temper (unless it was completely deserved) and displayed parent goals for a generation. The fact she never won as many awards as we felt she should have, will forever be a missed opportunity.
I enjoy watching you and seeing you and hearing you because you sound and look like my own mother. It's my dream to meet you someday but I'm happy that you are doing so well.
Ms. Rashad is an intelligent and dignified woman. She carries herself as all women of color should. She does well with any endeavour. Her parents and their parents went through a great deal to raise the children and survive daily. In this interview her Key words, "a mother/father who INSISTS that you live to YOUR full Potential." So many people of color have given up and thus do not excel to their full potential.
This woman is a true icon, she has carried herself with such dignity. Truly sad she has never received the recognition she deserves but I know the Black Community appreciates her work. And I know Howard U was blessed to have her.
I am so happy and kind of sad at the same time. I am very thankful that I had all these wonderful television mothers in my life as I grew up in the 1980s. Clair Huxtable, Elyse Keaton, Maggie Seaver, and last, but certainly not least Valerie Hogan. We need these kind of tv moms on back on television badly in 2024. I wish Mrs.Rashad well in her retirement or in her next vocational endeavor.
@@patriniacopeland6891 Ok thank u for correcting me, I grew up watching the both of them, an I was trying to remember who was the oldest, I thought it was Debbie
To still have a living mother at her age, it is a blessing all by itself.
Absolutely
It's something about her both she and her family carry themselves. They are regal. Their parents did a great job.
Yea witches
Whaha you mean supporting bill Cosby! Please!!
Agreed!
Tears to my eyes "His name is not here because he was Black Panther, NO his name is here because he was a scholar." Chefs kiss on that one.
I REPLAYED the part where she spoke of her mother at LEAST 10x. Omg. "It is a real gift.... to have a mother who LOVES you". I just melted at that statement.
Amen!
Yes indeed. I miss my mom❤ 😇
Yea. No one will love you like a mother

Lovely to hear! I grew up in the same area as her and her family and does she make us proud! ❤✊🏿
She sucks
Is she still defending bill Cosby? Or has she developed some integrity and sense?
What a blessing Chadwick was, still impacting folks

I don't know why, but this made me tear up. What a beautiful person inside and out.
What a beautiful piece and a wonderful legacy. Any student would be glad to attend Howard
This is crazy! Fine Arts building was the best part of Howard for me. We have such a rich theater history.

What an amazing woman.
Mrs. Rashad can get this work. Aged like a fine wine. I’m 26 I know I’m not too young. I’m ready mama ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love how she said her mother insisted that she insisted on achieving her human potential. As for me I had to insist on my own and it's been hard.
