- Welcome to the CarWale Off-Road Day 2017. To celebrate this gorgeous monsoon we rounded up a bunch of capable SUVs at a challenging off-road location, which is 19 Degree North at Aamby Valley, with the idea of spending a day having fun and also finding out how these burly machines cope with Mother Nature.

It's been 3.5 years i brought Hexa and run 80k km and it still gives that good suspension feel. What an engineering
I’m driving Hexa for a year now and can vouch for it’s quality ...simply awesome

I see them complaining that Tata Hexa struggles in hill climb. But then the Jeep Compass being a Jeep couldn't even participate in. TATA YOU'VE DONE A GOOD JOB
It's not apples to apples. Hexa has a high GC due to ladder frame chasis. In a different setting the story could be different. Also there are multiple compass trail hawk videos on you tube doing some nasty trails.
the thing is jeep india is a joke....the compass they make is dogshit...where i stay my dad has a trailhawk compass which climbs most stuff a wrangler rubicon can climb....in india its made by jeep india which is a joke as they dont even but diff in their wranglers and for the compass limited they charge a lot without sun roof.............FOOKEN JOKE JEEP INDIA...RUINING THE JEEP NAME
what it shows is that tata hexa has the least water spillage of just 10 mm...that makes it the best in terms of ride quality as per all the reviews and now it is tested...thanks for the review guys...accurate

Really beautifully shot video and editing. The cinematography was class.
Coming to cars, a real test and happy to see you had selected most of the right cars. Wud hav loved to see the Endeavour and Thar too.
Expected a bit more of the compass due to its Jeep heritage. Really happy for Hexa though. Its ride quality on any surface is out of the world. Isuzu seems to be THE offroader to buy in our country.
All time hexa best in class 19 inch tyre with so many many features with 18lacs no doubt worth money

True, Hexa is an MPV , it competes with Innova , ranault lodgy etc, they are comparing it with SUVs , but still it has best ride quality, JBL speakers comfortable seats etc

If Vcross is there ....I Compare it to 2007's Tata TL4x4.... not to hexa in ride quality and 4x4 capability..

I am not sure, but I think that this video was THE best one I have seen on UA-cam. I loved that you did all these really messy "trials", but especially liked the idea of having rear seat passengers carry open beakers of water.
This should be a part of a reality show or tv contest show.
I laughed for most of the video, I enjoyed it so much.
Unfortunately, I think the Jeep is the only one of these vehicles sold here in the US.

No endeavour, no gurkha, no gpysy!! seeing the line up of your soft roaders i'm suprised that Toyota Innova didn't made the cut.
Tata Hexa was the top performer because have you ever see the pattern on those 19 inch wheels, those tiers looks like they came from a luxury sedan. How the Hexa managed with such tires show its true potential. Fit similar tiers on those 2 SUV which managed your hill climb and then we'll see who comes out on the top.
This is the problem with these half baked tests made for clicks and views. You need to put on the same rubber in all the vehicles for a true comparison. Expected more from Vikrant Sir. Is it really that hard for you guys to get a couple of sets of A/T Tyres with steel rims and swap them out when testing each car.

Not every Tiguan/Hexa/Fortuner on the road is going to be with off-road tyres. 95% of the customers are going to drive with these exact tyres. So a true comparison of abilities must be done with tyres that come from factory. Anybody can modify to suit their needs. But a true comparison is that of a stock vehicle. That will really show if the fancy electronics really work.
95% of buyers don't go on such trails hence this view is not valid. Tiers are important in any motorsports. Just because a very capable car has bad tiers doesn't mean its right measure of its abilities. The t-fort and d-max were on the top because they have right shoes for the job.
The key take away from this comparison is, if passengers wish to sip beers while traveling then they should buy Tata Xeza

We have an old saying in our family.. soft roaders and cars are all "fare weather cars" when the going gets tough it's only the true SUV's that get the job done.. so really glad the V cross nailed it 😂

I like the fact that you tested these vehicles in true Off Road Conditions and by experts. I would have liked to have seen or if possible, would like to see the Pajero Sport, Isuzu MU-X and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado added to the test line up, all from the same year either 2016 or 2017 models.
Japanese people buy toyota, german people buy VW , Korean people buy Hyundai...why we are not buying tata.....buy indian ...and one day tata will be on d same level as they are

Sandeep chitta Hi. Actually the ford endeavour could have been a good choice but there are 2 problems with it . First is its length if its wheelbase was a little shorter it could have passed any obstacle .Second is the auto transmission .In these kind of sticky situations u definitely need a manual gearbox for rocking the car . Still I agree with u that they should have brought the endeavour with A/T tyres fitted for this comparo

TATA have one of the best lineup of cars , where others have lot work to catch-up.
Sure, they have a good lineup. But they also need to work on their products to make them on par with the competition.

Honestly speaking, I'd prefer the Tata Hexa because it is capable and affordable. Not to forget that Tata has good service network. I always wonder why the Aria/Hexa never sold much and the probable reason is that it competes with Innova, which is just a people mover.

The water beaker test is a "borrowed" from a top gear episode. And still is a very good indicator of the suspension.

Manu B driving zest xt diesel for almost 3 yrs. It always put smile on your face once you get behind the wheels. Features are best among it's peers.
