Beautiful tribute! Here come the tears..... 50,000 Names Jamie O’Hara There's teddy bears and high school rings And old photographs that mamas bring Of daddies with their young boys playin' ball There's combat boots he used to wear When he was sent over there And there's 50,000 names carved in the wall There's cigarettes and cans of beer And notes that say: "I miss you dear." And children who don't say anything at all There's purple hearts and packs of gum Fatherless daughters and fatherless sons And there's 50,000 names carved in the wall They come from all across this land In pick-up trucks and mini vans Searchin' for a boy from long ago They scan the wall and find his name The teardrops fall like pourin' rain Then silently they leave a gift and go There's stars of David and rosary beads And crucifixion figurines And flowers of all colors large and small There's a boy scout badge and a merit pin Little American flags wavin' in the wind And there's 50,000 names carved in the wall 50,000 names carved in the wall
Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I have friends who are those fatherless sons, and fatherless daughters. My mother's family is a Goldstar family from WWII. My uncle fought over there 67-70. He paid a terrible price physically, at the age of 19. I also know quite a few who came back, all honorable men. I have an American flag my uncle got in Vietnam in '68. It has 48 Stars. I believe when my uncle passes, the flag goes with him. The line that is stands out to me. is the mention of Crucifixion figurines, considering the way they were treated when they got back. May the lord forgive the best of them, and have mercy on the rest of them.
This is such a poignant song. It made me cry. The lyrics truly portray what war does to people's lives. Thankyou for uploading one of the best songs that has ever touched my heart.
The best song ever in tribute to 58.125 nurses and soldiers who lost their lives. I served with with and have some home town friends who's name are on the wall. A real mistake in American History
I have all ways loved to hear a writer sing his own songs, but this one especially I loved. He has beautiful voice,And that wall is the saddest place i have been
this song is the greatest song ever written on vietnam. Had two brothers that were on front line and fortunately there names weren't carved on the wall. but i pray for those that are.
Another great song. R.I.P. Jamie.

And there's 50,000 names carved in the wall
They come from all across this land
In pick-up trucks and mini vans
Searchin' for a boy from long ago
They scan the wall and find his name
The teardrops fall like pourin' rain
Then silently they leave a gift and go
There's stars of David and rosary beads
And crucifixion figurines
And flowers of all colors large and small
There's a boy scout badge and a merit pin
Little American flags wavin' in the wind
And there's 50,000 names carved in the wall

This is the original version and singer. This is a beautiful tribute

A superb artist
My old friend does have his name on the Wall, and many of us came close.
My Brother came home but he was never the same happy go lucky kid he was before and he passed away at a very early age.
Awesome
