Hey Josh, thanks for this, great to learn more about using Helix in a Jazz context. You've got a great approach, it really helped me to understand your choices and the settings you've used. I tend to find the sheer array of choices in Helix to be the most challenging aspect of digital modelling.
I’m glad you enjoyed it and got something out of it! The helix can definitely be overwhelming with all the stuff that it can do. I bought mine originally because I play a lot of musical theatre and need a wide array of sounds in a somewhat small package for that. It can handle everything I’ve thrown at it so far with ease and in a lot of cases has been more practical since I didn’t have to have a cranked tube amp behind me to get the sound. I am still learning more about it all the time as well! Thanks for watching!
It may be difficult to pull off on the stomp since the dsp is limited, but you can probably do a simplified version. I actually just got a stomp and will be doing some dedicated stomp videos soon! Thanks for the kind words are for watching!
Hello! “IR 1024” and “IR 2048” are the two drop down menus in the helix under the IR menu. The number is the sample rate that the IR will be at. Basically, the 2048 selection is 2048 samples and will be more dsp hungry, but in theory should sound a little better. 1024 is half the sample rate, and thus uses half the dsp. I have never noticed a difference between them to be honest. So I usually just run them at 1024 to save on the dsp because everything still sounds great. All the speaker IR’s that I regularly use come from Celestion. You can find them on their website. They all sound fantastic! I also have some acoustic IR’s from 3SigmaAudio and found some “dumble” inspired ones from Vertex effects on one of their videos. I much prefer the Celestion ones though. I try to say in the videos which ones I’m using as well, but apologies if I didn’t make a note of it. Hope that helps!
I’ve not had the chance to check out a catalyst yet. From what I’ve seen, it seems to be some of the same hx family effects built into the amplifier, but not the amp models. That being said, I am sure you can dial in a decent jazz tone on the catalyst. I have a Boss katana that I have been using for teaching lessons for a long while now and it does a fantastic Jazz tone. So I am sure the catalyst can pull them off with much better sounding effects as well. That being said, you can always use a helix with any amp that you want. So if you are wanting to use the helix for the tone, and just plug it into the catalyst, then the answer is yes!
No, I don’t sell any helix presets. My goal for the videos was to show how I set up my own presets to help others make theirs how they want. All the info on the settings for each video is presented and only takes a couple of minutes to make if you’d like to copy one of them. Doing that, you learn how to make your own presets, gain a deeper understanding of the helix in general, and can tweak them to your taste!
All of the IR’s I regularly use are from Celestion. I use the Celestion G12H 75 Creamback, G12M Greenback, and Celestion Blue IR’s. My go to is usually the Creamback. www.celestionplus.com/products/guitar-responses-by-speaker/

Great jazz tone! Amazing!! It's not like digital amp at all!!!
Thank you! The modeler tech has come a very long way in the last few years. They sound very close to the real thing!
Great inspiration and a beautiful tone. I have to transfer this to the HX Stomp XL. Thank you.

does it work on Line 6 catalyst 60?
