When you said lighten up I immediately got annoyed and I wasn't even in a bad mood. In one of your videos you said that it's as hard for a yellow to be thoughtful as for a blue to wake up happy. It is much easier to control one's actions than emotions. What you do is a choice, how you feel is not. You can act like you're happy or excited or whatever, but often it's just that, an act. I've perfected faking my emotions and prefer when no one sees the negative ones as i deal with it on my own the best anyway. But if I choose to show someone that side of me or even if I lose control of it, it's just the tip of the iceberg and the last thing I want to hear is someone dismissing it as it inconveniences them.

A sick puppy... before I went to therapy I used to call myself a dropkick puppy out on the street because I was emotionally manipulated and used. The sick puppy thing is 100% true at least for me. I’m a lot better now

Taylor Hartman Thank you! According to the test, I’m nearly 75% blue, with the other colours more or less evenly split for the remaining ~25%. Hearing about blues makes me feel better about myself in a lot of ways, especially knowing we make up 35% of the population. My sensitivities and many other characteristics aren’t inherently bad like the world would have me believe. And all the parts that make me go “yikes” are really good to be aware of and work on improving. Normally, personality tests confuse and frustrate the heck out of me but so far so good here which is a welcome relief.
I'm a blue primary and a yellow secondary which makes sense because I'm also an enfp myers briggs type (most introverted of extroverts and if something goes against my moral compass I can't support that something). I identify with this so much!

Yes, a blue is a good planner... I planned my daughters birth to be around my husband and my birthday... 17-18 April... The due date was 18 and she was born right on the due date although I had 52 hours of labour...

I think I'm blue and golden. I think my blue traits are a disadvantage as I am very emotionally sensitive and are sometimes weighed down by other peoples problems. I am not very socially competent when speaking to acquantences or strangers and often get trampeled in competetive settings. In a corporate environment considering emotional well being and fairness are not valuable traits and I have suffered for trying to do the right thing.

I tested 22/45 blue. I wait tables and tend bar for a living. Best job I have because I get to serve people. At my restaurant, I'm my own server, bartender, host, busser, mucker, dishwasher (sometimes), etc., and I don't share my tips, whereas I've worked at other restaurants where there are hosts and bussers and bartenders, and I have to share my tips, which I absolutely hated.
I think sharing tips with kitchen staff is a good thing. I worked at a restaurant where the servers were really giving us a hard time and wanted special treatment, but never any tip sharing. That sucked.

Dr. Hartman-- Is it possible for me to be a BLUE as an adult even though my childhood personality registers as 64% RED? As a kid, I was over achieving and focused on winning, being the best, and believing I was truly above all my peers. Yet as an adult (I have Borderline Personality Disorder just FYI), I'm hyper emotional, insecure, and have failed to actually launch in my late 20's. The childhood RED would suggest responsibility and motivation yet in adulthood I'm consumed by self-doubt (even though I think I'm the smartest person in every room and that I'm always right). The biggest reason I feel compelled by the BLUE category is that my deepest inner desire is to be understood/appreciated. And I become quite desperate when I can't get it. I'm a walking contradiction at its finest, which would also pertain to BLUE.
I'm also a blue and was a big time overachiever as a child.... I think that's the overly high expectations of ourselves. It's very much a blue trait as well.
When a child is born, the child comes with their core personality in tact. However, with life experience they can lose their way or embrace other traits as a way of survival and life expectations. A chinese man in his 80s approached my once and in tears said, "I will never know who I am." He was clearly raised as a RED but it wasn't him. He had behaved as a RED his whole life to please his society but it wasn't truly him. Ask yourself, why you have navigated away from RED in your adult life. We have all of the colors to a certain percentage. For example, I am 39 blue, 25 red, 21 yellow and 15 white. My primary color is blue with a secondary red. You have a primary and secondary mainly.

Sam congratulations on your relationship. Now for Yellows and Blues to succeed I have these core recommendations. Blues need to "lighten up" and not personalize everything so they get stuck emotionally; Yellows need to care--listen to the whole story and not just the ending. Blues crave being understood, appreciated and sincerity. Yellows crave playful banter with sense of humor, freedom (which can be a challenge with Blue's controlling nature) and change (which challenges Blue's need for security). Is it possible for me to be a BLUE as an adult even though my childhood personality registers as 64% RED?
As a kid, I was over achieving and focused on winning, being the best, and believing I was truly above all my peers.
Yet as an adult (I have Borderline Personality Disorder just FYI), I'm hyper emotional, insecure, and have failed to actually launch in my late 20's.
The childhood RED would suggest responsibility and motivation yet in adulthood I'm consumed by self-doubt (even though I think I'm the smartest person in every room and that I'm always right).
The biggest reason I feel compelled by the BLUE category is that my deepest inner desire is to be understood/appreciated. And I become quite desperate when I can't get it. I'm a walking contradiction at its finest, which would also pertain to BLUE.
I'm also a blue and was a big time overachiever as a child.... I think that's the overly high expectations of ourselves. It's very much a blue trait as well.
When a child is born, the child comes with their core personality in tact. However, with life experience they can lose their way or embrace other traits as a way of survival and life expectations. A chinese man in his 80s approached my once and in tears said, "I will never know who I am." He was clearly raised as a RED but it wasn't him. He had behaved as a RED his whole life to please his society but it wasn't truly him. Ask yourself, why you have navigated away from RED in your adult life. Also where are your greatest number of limitations? Usually your greatest number of limitations illuminate your true core personality

It’s strange that I rationally recognize the positives of blues and admire them but in reality I have a hard time dealing with blues. I just feel they tend to be so stiff and negative.

I'm confused because you're speaking like someone is only one color. I am even with blue and white, I'm a little more yellow, and have a very little red according to this test I took. Are there people that are just one color? Some of the things you used to describe blue I think I can identify with but some weren't even close, is that the other colors dominating over that trait?
It is about your dominant color, the strongest one.
We have all of the colors to a certain percentage. For example, I am 39 blue, 25 red, 21 yellow and 15 white. My primary color is blue with a secondary red. You have a primary and secondary mainly.

Nobody worries are anxious, fearful, or afraid about all the stuff that can happen. I likely suffer more than any other personality type medically/physically because I carry things in my head and heart longer than I should.

sounds like a pseudoscientific version of astrology. a bit like Freud's id and ego and superego, I d like to think this is a good system of personality categorisation, but i still feel this is possibly an oversimplification and possibly without satisfactory data to back it up.

I have the funniest story tell me how blue this is I was like 9 years old when the Gremlins came out . went to the theatre super excited loved it so much until they kept saying don't feed them after midnite. so I kept saying to my mom "that makes no sense it's ALWAYS AFTER MIDNITE! " THEY SHOULD HAVE SAID BETWEEN MIDNITE AND 2AM OR SOMETHING! .
everyone kept shushing me and I got so frustrated I went n sat in the lobby until it was over . ruined the whole movie for me. haha. you know it's a true story cause I cant lie. I've never called in sick to work once in 25 years haha.

Sam congratulations on your relationship. Now for Yellows and Blues to succeed I have these core recommendations. Blues need to "lighten up" and not personalize everything so they get stuck emotionally; Yellows need to care--listen to the whole story and not just the ending. Blues crave being understood, appreciated and sincerity. Yellows crave playful banter with sense of humor, freedom (which can be a challenge with Blue's controlling nature) and change (which challenges Blue's need for security). Clear example of "opposites attract" and it widens both people's experience when played well. GOOD LUCK!
