Getting Our Pump Track Ridable, But There's Plenty More Work left

  • We've been busy building and finally got our pump track / dirt jumps ridable, but this project is far from done. However I'm satisfied with its state for the time being. I have some bigger plans down the road, but I also want to move onto a few other trail building projects in the woods so we'll circle back to this in the future.

    As the title states, we have a ton of work left, but for the time being, I happy with how it rides and there's a few other trail building projects that I'd like to get a head start on before circling back to this at a later date. That might be this year, or we might wait until next. I've been taking advantage of the favorable building conditions to tackle a bunch of other projects. The next few videos might jump around a bit, but I think it'll come together.

    Love these videos, but I have to say Phil, I was higly impressed with that sneaky cross-foot- technique at 3:40 you used to tow the wagon of rocks behind you! 🤙

    Concerning the last jump in the line: lip to lander =14 ft, take-off should be 36-40 inches high with a 9-10 ft radius. This will give a decent amount of hang time and pop for tricks.

    Get an old self propelled drum mower (a small light one) take the blade pulley off and use that the pack it down.

      Can you be more specific? Do you have an example, this is the first I've heard of this.

      @@PhilsWorld i did try to reply however I think it was deleted because I put a link in the reply.
      Basically I was suggesting getting a "reel mower" and taking the blade off or disabling it and then using it as a mower like compactor.
      Probably not the best idea as they can be heavy and they would slip on steep inclines.

    What is the best way to dig up through a ton of small roots?

    • @PhilsWorld
      @PhilsWorld  2 роки тому +2

      Dynamite. Honestly though, that combo can be super frustrating no matter what tool you use. Frustrating by, hand, and frustrating in an excavator. I find jabbing branch cutters into the dirt to cut as much of a root out at once to be pretty effective to get rid of roots. Then i follow up with a standard pick axe to pry out rocks. The smaller rocks and roots are easy to get with a rake.
