  • A recording of the moments leading up to and the reaction during the North America Eclipse from Walnut Ridge City Park, in Arkansas.
I imaged the Eclipse end to end with my telescope and have posted the timelapse video here:
    • North America Eclipse ...
For us, the eclipse totality lasted 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
My telescope was set up, mostly for automated tracking of the sun and automated imaging, to begin capturing the eclipse at 12:37 (1st contact) and take an image of the progress every 60 seconds. Then once totality approached was where the real fun began. Totality started a 1:54:46 (2nd contact) and ran until 1:58:35 (3rd contact). My automation captured hundreds of images in that 4 minutes span, including some of the key events I was looking to capture. During 100% totality, you can take off the solar glasses, as well as take the solar filter off of your camera/telescope. And finally, I waited out the final hour or so to continue imaging to the point the moon no longer covered the sun anymore at all (4th contact). The four "contact" points are the standard way to measure/describe when the key events of an eclipse occur.
