    I like your reviews. You touch on all the things that matter... obviously an experienced user. Very thorough. Thank you.

    Got mine. It is light. For being a tarp to keep you dry in the rain, it will. I couldn't use it in porch mode because the tarp is so thin, it pools water very badly. I haven't any wind yet. I will let you know how it works. The sealant sent with the tarp was still tacky after 2 days.

      @livingsurvival  7 років тому

      you can really tighten it down if you need to. yeah, on any sil product the sealant will always be tacky.

      +Taromovies Swiss Bushcraft thanks Taro, yes the snow came and melted. As it cools down it should stay longer.

    I have had mine for a little over a year and last weekend I was out in the rain. If you notice at 5:41 you will see a rip. Mine ripped in two corners. You just can't get these tarps tight enough to keep water from pooling. If you try too hard you will rip the corners. Trying to repair mine now with super glue but the silicon material doesn't want to stay glued.

    I am getting almost an entirely new kit, as lightweight as I can be and still be comfortable. This tarp looks like it would go nicely with my stuff. Great video. One small suggestion, include the weight and/or size of the product (i realize that you said the size) , I would think ounces and grams. I do like your approach to demoing stuff. thanks

    Thanks Ben... a great look at this tarp. I myself stay away from silicone nylon... one spark from a fire, and hello big hole. Ripstop will take a spark, and maybe make a small hole, but easily covered with gorilla tape... good as new. If I were a "gram weenie"... probably a great product to use. More into get-home, bug-out and camping preparedness... I'll not consider this. But for those good weather backpackers, considering weight... sure, why not; and I would ask those people to please consider this very lightweight true silicone nylon tarp for their kit. Ben has shown you his review. Thanks MI bro!

      Not a problem, just carry a ounce of permatex flowable silicon sealer. EZ-PZ. I have a silnylon tarp like this from integral designs I bought 20 years ago, still going strong. I need a bigger tarp tho and wish the 15% off offer was still in effect all these years later. LOL.

    On their website now. Debating weather to go with the 8x10 or the 10x12. After seeing your review and the way you hang it, I think I will go with the 8x10 since I'm using it to replace my Hennassy big tarp for hammock camping. Love the coverage but a little too big and bulky. Have you got any discount codes? There on sale now for 89.99 USD

    Thanks for showing the tarp in a few configurations, many others wouldn't.How much sealant do you get with it, I take it that you have to recoat every so often?

    • @livingsurvival

      +Steve Clark you get a tube. i guess you might have to recoat every few years or something. depends on use.

    Can you use this tarp to close off the ends like doors on the 10x12 tarp? Will it still work with a hammock?

  • @jamescarmean2701

    This does look like a nice little emergency tarp for my uses. It would be a good backup for my Jeep kit too Thanks for the detailed data on the Tarp. I like details and the way things are constructed.On a separate note. I have a beautiful Camo tent by Early Winters, circa 1986. It is a goretex 3 person tent. The waterproof finish on the flooring is peeling off. Is there a product I can spray on or apply in some way to restore that coating. It is a great tent and I would like to get it back into shape. You suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  9 років тому

      +James Carmean you can use a product called nikwax. hang the tent upside down with the floor facing the sun and do it on a warm day.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  9 років тому

      +James Carmean or get a cheap tarp from harbor freight and use it as a ground sheet/ footprint

    Great video! Let's start there! I watch all of your videos and have actually bought items on your recommendation. So, keep up the reviews!
    In this review however, at 8:26, u r reviewing the tarp in a windblock setting. on the ridgeline, right side, middle tie-out, it looks like there may be a hole on it. looks small, but still I was curious since I kow durability and rigidity is very important with items like this.
    if u could let me know Ben, that would be great as I am considering picking one of these up.
    Thanks.

    Good video. I like the theory, but man...20D..........I'm just wondering how durable some thing like that is??? To bad they don't make it in not only 20D but 40D as well for those of us who don't care if it weighs twice as much or twice as big packed down. At least I know I'll always have it if a storm rolls in and the wind picks up at 2am and my tarp start whipping around. Keep up the great work.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  9 років тому

      +wjf213 yeah the point is the light weight. there are other tarps out there for when weight is not a concern. aquaquest for example :)

    • @wjf213
      @wjf213 9 років тому

      +Living Survival Yeah, you're right. Very light weight is what they were going for, and really did achieve that. Is that Aquaquest made of the same material as this one is or is it coated? I hope you do an update on this tarp and tell us how it's holding up after several uses or even just set up and left outside for a few weeks in all kinds of weather. Keep up the great work and Happy Thanksgiving.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  9 років тому

      wjf213 yeah i think i will leave it outside. the aquaquest are 40d and 75d poly on one side and sil on the other. coated.

    This almost looks like cuben fiber. Nice tarp, I really like the loops vs the grommets, although having to the sealing is a bit of a bother to be honest
