I came from twoset. After having heard so much roasting of the viola, I just say it is a hauntingly beautiful and touching instrument. It has an intensity and melancholy I wasn't expecting
What makes the viola special is that it can create it's own foundation of music, while delivering it's own melody... like two hands on a piano, one playing the music that fills your heart, while the other tells you a story to break it. All the violin has is a sweaty try-hard technically executed melody, and a constant need for backup to create music to help it's melody make sense
Not many people play the viola but when they do, they play it beatufully. I hope that someday I am able to play this amazing instrument as beautifully as you do.
The Viola is truly one of the most beautiful instruments, as a viola player it always excites me whenever I hear the viola. Totally recommend this instrument!!
Most people love and rave about the violin and violin music is beautiful, but there’s something that’s just a little bit... idk... better and more hauntingly beautiful about the viola. It’s my favourite of all the stringed instruments by far. Thank you for sharing with us.
Same! My sister has been a violist for 7 years and I really love it when she plays tho i play piano and the flute, i would love to learn the viola someday aswell!!
I played violin as a child and growing up but never really liked the sound the viola is just darker and smoother i think if i got a viola instead i would have continued to play.
My mom was helping me decide my instrument for orchestra and we were leaning towards violin when we came across the beautiful video! Now I play the viola and I love it!!!❤❤❤
For all my viola players out there, (I am one of them) never give it up even though you only play 8th notes in orchestras. Your viola can still be as stunning as this ❤️
The viola is responsible for playing the alto section of an orchestra. It's a necessary instrument. An orchestra with only treble and bass clef would sound incomplete. Imagine a band without a bassoon or trombone (technically tenor clef). It wouldn't be the same because you are missing part of the story. Imagine a story where supporting characters are taken out. It would leave it dull. Yes, as violinists (myself included) we do make fun of the viola. However, I would never want someone to stop playing and I greatly appreciate them. Making fun of viola is more like a "who's better?" competition. Everyone always says themselves. Don't take it too seriously. I would hate to see a day where there was *any* orchestra with no violists. I hope videos like this continue to inspire young musicians to play the viola. An orchestra can't go without them, really.
The viola is always the butt of jokes amongst any ensemble. I've been playing for almost 30 years, I'll never trade the richness the viola is capable of for any other stringed instrument. Besides, they're just jealous...!
@@fallonbrumback8642 As a non player I love this instrument. Beautiful, haunting and gorgeous. This is the first time I listened to it because of twoset. But let me tell ya as a non musician who likes music there is nothing that sucks about it.
I am a 16 year old viola player i've been playing the viola for 6 years and honestly I am astonished by this the creavity and how she mixes the double stops and the way she barely touches the other strings make a unique sound.
I’ve been playing the viola since 4th grade, I am now in 8th grade and I’m still amazed on how Beautiful of a sound they can make, this was amazing ✨❤️
I love your performance of this piece! I feel like your vibrato really shines here because it fits so well with the richness and elegance that this piece really shines the best with.
I took a 5 month hiatus from viola due to work and school and lack of motivation but this incredible performance just reminded me of why I love it so much. Thank for this emotional performance. Absolutely enchanting.
I came bc I am composing a song using musescore and wanted to hear a real viola so I can find a good viola sound font that is that has a rich and deep sound. I subscribed because your playing really touched me deeply looking forward to hearing more
You are so excellent! I am also a violist and hope to become professional like you. I’ve been playing for 6 years now and want to be more with it. Violists like you give me that hope that the viola will become more appreciated ☺️💖
Violist Here…(self taught 😏). THANK YOU. Your playing makes a difference!!! It helps us to reach higher. We get to listen, watch and learn. Best of all, we get to hear where practicing can get us.
I don’t play an instrument and I’m torn between viola jokes and viola. I’ve decided to choose viola because it’s a beautiful instrument when the craftsmanship and playing is good. Your performance is enchanting. Not saying that I will oppose viola jokes very much because I like a good laugh occasionally, but I think I will advocate for the honour of violas when expected. I’ve also wanted to write a mystery book that incorporates classical music in the puzzle and maybe I’ll consider letting one of the main characters play the viola. Thank you for opening my eyes.
This solo gives me phantom troupe vibes, and believe me, it's a compliment. It's an amazing piece, and you played it beautifully. A sound like that can draw the attention of anyone. I've been playing viola for 7 years but am only just getting started! I can't wait until the day comes that I can sound that good. Amazing.
this is a really wonderful recording, well done. been playing violin for about 3 years and came to tune my friends violin and turns out it's a viola and I'm really loving the sound!
I’m in intermediate orchestra at my school, I’m not great at it but damn this was beautiful and maybe I’ll keep playing. I do wish they let us play the c string morning because I love it.
Interesting piece! Great addition to my travels and waits. Great inspiration for grave and critical analysis.... or just losing myself in story. Thank you!
I have come back to your rendition of it so many times in the past two years, you are the main reason I fell in love with this piece and the viola generally! Thank you so much
Oh my god you play that so beautifully. I also play the viola, but I won't be able to play as beautiful as you. This video gave me again motivation for this instrument.
Beautiful. Thank you! Can you tell me about that chinrest? I have a big viola too and I feel like I am balancing a pizza box and want to get better but I know my setup is in need of amendment.
The Viola always seen as the butt of the joke pushed aside by the other instruments such as the Cello or Violin but when it gets the chance to be shown as the voice of the orchestra it makes the most of that opportunity showing it’s true potential in full power.
Brava!!! So beautiful. I am just starting to learn the viola and this is massive inspiration for me (also a bit daunting, but what's a heaven for?). Thank you!
You know, I stopped playing the viola in favor of the cello; look, I love the cello, but the viola is such a pretty instrument, and I'd like to become proficient in both.

It has more depth and range than any other instrument I've heard.

I was just gifted a viola for my birthday a few days ago 😊

Eow
This is a difficult instrument. The finger spacing is slightly longer. But double stops are some kind of magic that I never expected.
I've never heard a piece for solo viola before. You played this beautifully!
What a lovely introduction into the world of solo viola. This piece and performance are terrific!

I just discovered this piece from watching a specific twoset's video. It shocked my mind when you played it. It was ineffable.
This reminds me of my years playing in the orchestra from jr high to high school. My instrument was also the Viola.
Wow! Just the sound of a Viola is so pure, Hard to put in words. I played for years, Im getting that wanting to play again.
This is sublime, and such a lovely and fitting treat for the cold and rainy Seattle afternoon outside my window.

I am not a musician at all. This instrument seems to have a deeper, richer sound than the violin. I envy anyone who can play either instrument though.

the way she is moving so fast it looks like she's glitching around

I play the viola but it’s not as good as yours (what I mean by that is I play horribly)

Violin is overhyped, too much of high notes, viola is the real deal, having mids to such a perfection
