As great as the 2011 Packers record looked, their offense had to play almost perfectly each week and their defense needed almost a takeaway per game because they gave up yards in chunks.

One big reason for that: Nick Collins’ injury

same with Brady's defense that year in 2011. Gave up hella yards but still good at points allowed. People are hypocrite these days though as they view yards allowed as being a horrible defense when there's more to it than just yards allowed. packers got smack in the playoff real hard during this season and never quite recovered from it.

As a Giants fan, this reminded me of when they played the undefeated Patriots during the 2007 regular season. The lowly Giants neck-and-neck with the top team in the league. Same exact score, too. So when they played the Packers in the playoffs, I knew a win was possible. I just couldn't imagine how spectacular of a beating it would be, regardless of a handful of questionable penalty calls in the Packers' favor.

The NFC was very strong in 2011mainly due to the offensive fire power from most of the teams. The Lions and Bears before the Jay Cutler injury were tough outings for everyone but once Cutler got hurt it left the door open for Falcons to get it. As for the Giants they were on a 5 game losing streak after this game and somehow Dallas sill imploded and went 1-4 the last 5 weeks and the Giants went 3-1 the last 4 and swept the Cowboys twice within that time frame.

That’s what I’m saying. Defense in general was arguably at its peak in 2011 (tho 2011 was mainly a passer’s league w qb’s racking so many yards in passing). Packers defense was just a bit lower ranked in the 20s but that doesn’t mean they were bad. They were pretty good that year
