As a Giants fan, this reminded me of when they played the undefeated Patriots during the 2007 regular season. The lowly Giants neck-and-neck with the top team in the league. Same exact score, too. So when they played the Packers in the playoffs, I knew a win was possible. I just couldn't imagine how spectacular of a beating it would be, regardless of a handful of questionable penalty calls in the Packers' favor.
This game was when I started to feel like the 2011 season seemed strangely similar to the 2007 season for the Giants. Losing to an undefeated team late in the season by the same score 38-35 only to get revenge in the playoffs.
The NFC was very strong in 2011mainly due to the offensive fire power from most of the teams. The Lions and Bears before the Jay Cutler injury were tough outings for everyone but once Cutler got hurt it left the door open for Falcons to get it. As for the Giants they were on a 5 game losing streak after this game and somehow Dallas sill imploded and went 1-4 the last 5 weeks and the Giants went 3-1 the last 4 and swept the Cowboys twice within that time frame.
I attended this game. Only NFL game I've ever attended live to this point. Fun memories, the loss was unfortunate but not what would transpire after ;)
