- One of our all time great project cars is the Crew Cab Chevelle: a 1966 Chevy Chevelle that we bought for $1000 and have made all sorts of modifications to. Here are some of the best things we've done to this lovable car, plus a whole bunch of Roadkill style snafus along the way. #Roadkill #RoadkillGarage #MotorTrend

I wish roadkill returns to UA-cam!
Finally something worth watching!! Nostalgia here we go!!
Oh yeah, Roadkill Garage... I remember when I could actually watch this show. Such a shame.
Roadkill Garage was always on MOD.
@@Hotlog69 unfortunately with all the monthly subscription fees that pile up nowadays I had to take a hard look at what I was able to justify and MOD just isn't something I can do anymore.
Mike O'Barr it’s a dollar a month man come on.
That's $1 a month for the rest of my life to keep watching.... And I have to use their terrible video player.
Discovery bought Motor Trend, then they killed the youtube channel. Last December they ran a special, 4.99 for the year. I signed up
4 door muscle cars where pretty common & popular in Australia back in the day 🙂. The Chevelle looks nice 👍
I LOVE IT!!!! I love to see the resurrection of the '66 Chevelle !!!! So inspiring!!!! Thanks for sharing.
brig back Roadkill to UA-cam
Roadkill is currently in the brig sailor.
I agree, hurt when they left! I just started my channel where I take trucks up into the bush and wreck em. Maybe I can make a few folks laugh.
Just fuckn around on classic cars day in day out that’s why like this cast keep it coming 🤙🏻
Used to love roadkill. For principal, I refuse to pay. VGG does a lot of this, on a real budget too.
for $60 a year, i can go to a swap meet and buy a ton of car mags that will teach me things.
The perfect way to start a week. Go Roadkill!

Love my 66 300 Deluxe, turns heads daily. Best driver I've ever owned. Can't wait to finish it.
Love these guys, needed them thirty years ago.
4 door cars make great sleepers,had a 79 olds 88 with a 350 lt1
Best part, "watch the paint Dulich"
I miss roadkill. Legends that i miss because i cant afford motortrends. Sad.
I literally bought a year for $24...
same here i miss those roadtrips ang junkyard
@@nates9353 good for you. I dont have 24$ for a service
That was great!!! Nice work. Real world hot rod and I love it. I'd buy it for a 1000 bucks. 👍
You guys help me learn so much
I’d probably do a basic rebuild and use it as a DD. A four door is good for that
if you can find one rust free, then grab a work truck at auction and transfer over the drivetrain and AC and some used speed parts, you can beat the heck out of a new lease car.
love 66 dirt cheap nice job man
Great show. Really enjoy the builds. So many cool junker cars that you just can't get down here... but I do wish Freiburger would wear some better foot protection when he works on the cars.
Just love the magic these two create and how well they seem to work together...#bestutubersever
What's with all the AT's? Install a third pedal and one of those pokey things up through the tunnel.
Pokey thing that goes through the tunnel? Why I have one of those!
Loved to see it raise its rear on the first burnout--that's what you want for a good launch, not a squat. Second, that switch pitch torque converter was such a great idea, I can't believe GM didn't continue it. They needed it with their 2 speed automatic with a 1.48 first gear multiplication. Stand on the gas, and stall speed went from 1,800 RPM to somewhere around 3,300 RPM. I have one with a manual switch, in between a THM400 and a 461 cid Olds with variable duration lifters. That thing can pull off the line in third gear (manual valve body) and get 15mpg in a 4-4-2 with a 3:1 rear axle ratio, or I change the stall speed and bang it into First and go to 60mph in 5 and a half seconds.
Nowadays, you have 4 speed automatics with steep first gears and lockup torque converters. But back in the muscle car days when GM was handicapped with a 400 cid limit? That switch pitch torque converter would have made a difference on some of their muscle car options.
As for the best 455, the problem was none were offered in a truck, so you can't just grab heavy duty parts cheap in the junkyard--unless there's a FWD GM motorhome, and then there's a Toronado 455 under the hood with a forged crank. The Buick's advantage was if you knew how to drill the head for the Stage 1 valves, otherwise its light weight was a double -edged sword--not a lot of strength if you were going to go nuts with boost. The Pontiac 455 had a lot of cheap torque potential, once you got past the Armasteel connecting rods. Find some 6X or 1971 2bbl 96 heads, stab in a Ram Air cam, and the stock cast exhaust manifolds even had a header design to them rather than the terrible log style on some luxury cars.
Albert Gaspar. good info, thanks for sharing...my 455 street strip Pontiac had so much bottom end in my '65 GTO with its narrow rear wheel wells that hooking up at the strip sometimes happened, sometimes didn't. i have dialed the bottom end back on this latest build. take care
We need to pay them so they can afford to give Lucky a mic.
Wow I remember roadkill, thank God for VGG
They weren't lying when they chose the Buick for torque that burnout at the end was shocking
Roadkill material! Haha the thumbnail had me
MOTOR YOU yes
You guy from Roadkill are top notch, I enjoy your show, the 66 Chevelle 4 door is sometime I have been looking for a long time can't never seem to find one worth restoring! Any tips?
I got one out in Cali lmk if intrested
That looks like my old 66
300 deluxe I got rid of maybe 10 years ago in Arkansas. I still have the 230 inline six it came original with car
GREAT VIDEO DAVID AND STEVE. HOT RODDING DOES NOT HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE. HOT RODDING IS ABOUT USING YOUR RESOURCES TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY. JUNKYARDS AND SWAPMEETS.
This Malibu is so badass!
From what I remember I saw you guys driving that car on the road some where between the Ohio turnpike and Pennsylvania maybe, me and my wife were going to D.C. from Michigan and out of nowhere you appear with your Roadkill logo across the back window in white letters and then I look to see who’s driving and I saw the one in the ball 🧢 cap then I said wow! It’s the guys from roadkill and my wife turns and looks as if she knew what I was talking about and like that you were gone, it was around June 16th 2018 and I hate that I’ll never know if I really saw you guys or not. It’s weird that from seeing y’all on UA-cam made me feel like I saw friends from school. It’s a good thing you didn’t pull into a gas station because you’d be going who the heck is this guy 😳 but I love the show
I kinda like the look, of the four door.
50 year old teenagers. Gotta love em!
66 dirt cheap amazing
I think it's really cool because it's a crew cab Coupe
I have a 67 chevelle and I love it
Thermoquad, the only carb that punishes you at WOT.-David Freiburger
I think roadkill might have the all-time record for using the most optima
Upload more roadkill on UA-cam! #bringbackroadkill
It is very hard to find 2 door cars new or used any longer, and the younger generation are doing a lot with 4 door cars..... The other tough thing to find is anything with manual transmissions any more.
I'd love to daily this car, what a beast
I like how steve rides the engine/trans in like dr. strange love lol
Dulcich your stare makes you look like a crazy person lol
Bro I watch u guys all week
@@HASHTAG-o5p reported. That makes three.
That old chevelle looks mean. So what if its a 4 door id consider it still a musclecar. It was downright evil when then put that blower on it
fryberger unit dosage of geniuses man I like this I like to swap a Chevy with a 455 Buick engine man that's perfect keep up the good work
I don't know if you guys still answer questions on this build but, here it goes. Hope yas do! You guys replaced the wheels and tires with that nice new set, can we have the specs on that new set of wheels and tires, please??
both the driver's and passenger's head went thru the windshield
Finally aftar a long long time 🥰Roadkill

well well well good to see ole friedburgler and doli again.missed you fellas. oh and the beard???? guy anywho was good episode.would be nice to see more of this fine show on utube again but ofcourse motrend has to make money so i guess i wont cuz i dont have money either but thanks for the post.maybe one day you will remember all the folks that made you popular by word of mouth and treat them to some more of this good ole roadkill vid all the best you guys ;)
Wow that's an awesome car!
Mental note for when I have money 😄
All the fans that Roadkill/ Motortrend lost went over to Hoonigan. So far so good there. I just hope that Hoonigan doesn't go the same route these guys went.
Like it makes a great street sleeper !😎
When will Roadkill be on UA-cam again ???
Hans Adi probably never
It won't be on YT ever again. Motortrend is greedy AF and they want people to pay for their channel in order for people to be able to see Roadkill and other shows like Dirt every day that used to have free episodes on YT.
When capitalism fails...
When you type "car hits skunk" in the search bar.
On my third episode now.....IM A FAN
I now only write lists in black marker on brown cardboard because Roadkill
That’s kind of rude you know but I still loveRoadkill it’s still a good video to learn about stuff like you know if you buy a car from a junkyard you know how to fix it up because I Roku so that’s why I love roadkill and there might be a missed type
Cool cars!!! I love 4 durs!!!!
YES!
1000....800 to much! LOL.... But hey your in Cali, so I get it
Since no more roadkill on youtube I watch vvg
#1 on the list: turn the crank to see if it even turns. THEN do plugs and stuff.....
6:50 so they are ordinary mechanics..
💪💪
I dont know Steve's background. But Frieburger I wouldnt call ordinary. Hes knowledge of everything automotive is astounding.
Steve is a "mechanic" Friebuger is a "technician". Those of us that dont just turn wrenches or just throw parts on but actually understand the physics and engineering of all the components of the vehicle and know how to rebuild and diagnose are technicians. Everybody else is a mechanic
You can’t beat the torque of a 455 but you do need to watch that oil pressure and rpm redline.
Nice
4-doors are cool
Cut out the center and make it a 2 door. With 2 1/2 feet shorter, it could do badass wheel-stands.
ive never had an issue dropping in a big cap hei.
what a car
did no one else realize how long that 350 pulled that burnout or is that just me
My uncle has a yellow Buick wildcat in his yard, if he didn’t have legit wildcats living in it I’d love to restore it. But they ain’t even that nice looking 😂
Steve sure gets electrocuted alot.
I’m still waiting for Top Gear America.
Its amazing u can get these 4 doors for cheap whitch is the same car pretty much as the 2 door and its the same car
🐎a well entertained and satisfied subscriber
How was the distributior tested? What and where is it connected????
Power and ground to the HEI it has the coil on top and terminals in the cap. A yellow and a black, dont use the brown it's for the tach. Funny these are becoming a thing of the past. If you are lost say you are lost and leave it to others.
Wont be long before guys are converting the 4 door family cars into 2 door musscle cars. Ive see a few guys convert the 4 door 55 to 57 chevys in to 2 doors with new reproduction sheet metal and donor cars.
I'm in Australia and can't seem to find more episodes even if I do try/want. 2. pay? WTF...
Bring back roadkill to youtube please
Shoulda primed the motor while the spark making thingy was out.
what was the mounts that was placed on the a body cross frame, i want to put a 455 in my a body
“Getting a breeze” “your vent might be open” to guys in a car it’s a little awkward🤔🤔🤔😂😂😂😂
SUGGESTION: PLEASE BRING BACK DIRT CHEAP CHEVELLE.
At 0504 where did they test run lol looks like home
Question from the UK - is that Buick 455 engine the same as was fitted to Kojak's Buick Century, which I noticed had a "Stage 1" badge on the boot and on the wings at one time?
Yep it's a Buick 455 c.i. big block V8. Mostly known for being the powerplant of Pontiac's "The Judge" GTO.
On ce crorait en plein mad max serieux
I am looking for this EXACT CAR right now, color not important. I would have paid more than a grand for that and gone anywhere to get it!!
2:00 you wanna try that again?😂
Is it just me or were they putting in plugs and then time warped to the engine being out and on the fork lift?
Should turn it into a two door
I'd keep it a 4 door. Everyone has a two door already.
@@Payne427 two door is better worth more. Two door coupe is allways better
@@davidfindley1588 opinions vary. Two door coupes (not that I hate them) are like 69 Camaros or SS clones. They're everywhere.
Doesn't the flat side go up on the coil spring? Or does it vary from manufacturer?
If a person were doing bodywork and a paint job on that, it wouldn't be too much trouble to Weld and Smooth amd move things a little to turn that into a 2 door. It wouldn't be an entirely accurate 2 door, but close. Leave the door handles on the inside back area to drive passengers crazy
Or, you know, just leave it a 4d...
@@matsgranqvist9928 Yeah that too. There's really nothing wrong IMO with that being a 4 door
Can yall do worlds greatest drag race 10!.
Edit: but with a bugatti veyron and the McLaren senna again
I will cut holes in floors and grind frames all day for $25 an hour.
Hagerty is making some great content now, and not shilling us for it.... bye bye.
I want finnigan
He's out Boating.
just fix the glass and headlights.... drop in 5.3 V8 turbo'ed and have fun with it
Dude where in az are you guys
Free????? Are they getting soft over there?
Why is david buying stuff from Hector..didnt he rook them on the Buick wagon..I think they like to humor his backyard dismantling operation; maybe Hector supplies the crew with cheap imported beer..
