It's fine. The undercoat needs to be scraped off so the hitch directly contacts the vehicle. If the undercoat gets sandwiched between the hitch and vehicle, the hardware won't torque correctly because the undercoat might have some 'give' in it. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/CURT/C38JR.html

The spacer blocks are a pain. I’m in the middle of this and you cannot get the blocks to sit flush. Not enough room
