what makes FW so special to me is, that Jim Matheos means every note he composes and really turns his inside out with the lyrics. They are not pretending something they aren´t. The whole Band lives the music!
I've been a singer half my life. I like Ray's voice a lot more than Geoff Tate. Tate's is in my top five. But Ray has a lot more emotion and power in his voice. I love his tone and how he phrases his lyrics. He's emotional without being blues oriented. He's got that Halford quality when he sings a ballad (I know this weird to say)but, it makes you want to cry. Ray's voice changed my whole approach to writing and phrasing. Thanks Fates!!

Ray was pretty much at his peak at this time. Unbelievably memorable vocal melodies. Jim's guitar tones are fucking fantastic. Rich and crisp.

The band is top shelf and any new member that has come about has had to be that caliber of musician to pull it off. Nuff said. long live the FATE!!
