Seems like MGA is dying. Every single one of their brands is feeling completely lackluster. Like even Bratz. MGA takes way too long to come out with new designs for dolls. Also for how long it’s taking for the new designs, I would expect something more exciting than what’s coming out. Not that the new Bratz aren’t cute, but they could’ve done so much better.
Yeah...it's very sad because they can be so innovative when they want to be, and they make the best doll clothes quality wise. Idk why they decided to take this sudden turn when they knew they had such a strong fanbase in the adult market.

That's my philosophy on collecting in general, that if I don't love a doll then I'm not going to buy it just to say I have the full set or whatever. It's why I haven't bought any of the Skullectors at all. But there are people who like to collect that way, and that's their preference. I think instead we should say to Mattel, 'hey, there are people that will buy these dolls if you make enough. Don't make them so limited!'

I am going to take a swing that Iris is to add diversity to the 'core' line up (which, from MGA's own worlds, were the original six + Amaya [And I guess Bella to some degree, cant get rid of the pink girl] And noticeably, the darkest skin tone there is Sunny.). I won't ever complain about adding more skintone diversity in a core line, as sad as it is to see less Ruby and Jade. The Poppy thing however is part of this weird legacy of red-head erasure wherein the redhead character is replaced by a second blonde part way through a doll line's existence (in this case, Amaya and Bella, with Sunny being the first 'blonde' I guess) - see also Diva Stars and MyScene. Fun fact though, they made Slime World (or whatever its called) artwork with Poppy's character art even though she has not had a single release in the rebrand. I work for an apparel company that licenses MGA and saw this.

I love redheaded dolls, I tend to gravitate towards them over blondes. Thanks for sharing your insider knowledge! Besides the first slime line, they've only done groups of 4 characters when they used to always do 6 in a core line, I think. So that's probably a lot of cut costing there. I do not like the rebrand so don't take this as me defending it too much, but I do think also they probably have some data that kids, little kids, do like the rainbow, sparkly things over, say, orange, overall. I would be curious to see if they have hard data on the selling of characters from the original RH run. I was also just thinking about this, but they probably started targeting younger kids (besides to appeal to their moms) because the original child who liked them in 2020 may already have grown into their tween years and stopped liking dolls (5 years is a LOT at that age), so they wanted to capture a younger demographic who they could sell to for a few more years before they also become tweens. That all being said, the Poppy art is so cute. I actually like her style over her series one doll in it, she's wearing a orange boho-ish dress with pink butterflies and has small braids in her hair and an updated version of her butterfly heels. You can see her if you search 'Rainbow High Colorful Friends Retro Group t-shirt' on amazon in a group shot tee. Honestly I am surprised they even approved the art with her in it!

When we moved to PA there weren't as many opportunities, which is why I switched into the medical billing. Yes 2025 is going to be a big year! I'm looking forward to what other smaller doll brands might bring.

I tried to get into medical billing because I used to do a job that seemed to be the same processes but alas all the places I applied to needed medical billing experience (which always makes me wonder how anyone gets a job where experience is recommended but oh well 😅) I’m glad you’re able to have some creative outlets like Etsy so urs not just medical billing for you 😄
@kristinaland ugh yes, I know the struggle of the 'experience' requirement. For me, I was in the right place at the right time to get hired at the chiropractor, and that allowed me to get experience to transfer to the billing department. That would be my suggestion, to get into an adjacent job and wait for an opening within the same company.

I tried to get into medical billing because I used to do a job that seemed to be the same processes but alas all the places I applied to needed medical billing experience (which always makes me wonder how anyone gets a job where experience is recommended but oh well 😅) I’m glad you’re able to have some creative outlets like Etsy so urs not just medical billing for you 😄
@kristinaland ugh yes, I know the struggle of the 'experience' requirement. For me, I was in the right place at the right time to get hired at the chiropractor, and that allowed me to get experience to transfer to the billing department. That would be my suggestion, to get into an adjacent job and wait for an opening within the same company.

I mean no offense by saying I don't like them, but they're just not for me. I always preferred the mini Bratz because they were just shrunken versions of the actual Bratz instead of morphed baby characters 🤣 but that's just my opinion, you are free to love the Kidz!

Sweetie, Bratz Babyz isn’t a new, I understand with rainbow high, Bratz babyz & kidz have been a thing since 2004 & 2006, the original Bratz fans love the Bratz babyz & kidz & i remember sometime in 2023, Bratz did a poll saying would people would want the babyz back & majority said yes, so people wanted them back & last year was they’re anniversary, so go figure they reproduced them for the true Bratz fans, again it’s not a trend for Bratz, the babyz has been here for 21 years & I will believe in 2026 they’ll reproduced the Bratz kidz for they’re anniversary, ok
I had Bratz as a kid, I do know the Babyz were around before, but I wasn't into them then either 😅 like I said, if you like them, if anyone likes them, that's fine. I've just never understood the need for them. But it is a trend for MGA, because they do it with all their lines. For the ones that start out as baby dolls, like LOL surprise, that was great when they made OMG, but when it goes the other way, I'm not into it. But maybe I'm in the minority thinking that. Anyway, I don't think it makes anyone a true or not true fan to not like the Babyz, it's a personal preference.
