  • A comprehensive pantone colour guide tutorial in Illustrator. Hi everyone, it’s Tom with Satori Graphics back with another graphic design Illustrator tutorial; today we are delving into the world of pantone colour in this Illustrator tutorial. We will be first looking at what exactly a pantone colour is, how to access the pantone colour libraries in Illustrator, and then how to convert or change a design such as a logo design, to pantone from something such as a CMYK logo design.
    Pantone colour is aa universally recognised system for printing and using colours throughout the graphic design industry, that ensures your designs and logo designs print out as intended when viewing the pantone colour swatch. This makes life a lot easier for us graphic designers, and you will see why in todays Illustrator pantone colour guide tutorial.
    Me personally, I didn't have a clue what pantone colour was for the first couple of years as a graphic designer, and I remember one day a client asking me what the pantone colour code was for their logo design, and yeah I was in hot water in that incident. We all live and learn, and from then on I made a point to utilise pantone colours in my graphic design work. And that's why today I have this Illustrator pantone colour guide tutorial, so I can spread the knowledge and you then in turn make your designs in pantone colour and also can convert or change existing design to pantone.
    If you found this graphic design pantone colour guide tutorial on how to convert a design to pantone colour in Illustrator enjoyable or useful, let me know in the comments section and drop a like on your way out. That's it for this week so have a great weekend when it swings around on Friday, and drop any suggestions down for future videos here. I have a list already and I am going to start really working through them next week.

    Hi! Great insight into the Pantone world
    By the way, it is not possible to apply a nice gradient by using a Pantone right? Because I get that greyish shade in between a colors on the gradient slider. Have you used Pantone colors for gradients?

    I have a gradient logo that I need to change to Pantone colors. Is there a way to do this and still keep the same sharp look of the gradient or is it not possible to change a gradient to Pantone?

    • @SatoriGraphics
      @SatoriGraphics  6 років тому +1

      Some people would just make each side of the gradient pantone, but that isn't really effective.
      One way is to make one of the colours a solid box of colour, then the other Pantone to gradient white, then set that to multiply.. if that makes sense lol?

    • @kristina5404
      @kristina5404 6 років тому +1
