For a little context, the sticks aren’t properly working because they were calibrated for the adapter board that was used in the Ambernic device you got them from.
I don't think so because i got the potentiometer stick from the switch and put it on the 505 and it worked perfectly
I nvr herd of the device you salvaged then from buy id recommend gulikit
@@unknownl8154 whenever u see hall effect joysticks in current devices its all from Gulikit, they didnt put the joycon version till now because they needed to make alot compared to that niche device but its all the same.
@@Deadlines-X
1. Until now, only our split type electromagnetic joystick is authorized to K-Silver for sub-contracted manufacturing only.
2.Until now, no any third-party company is authorized by us to sell GuliKit electromagnetic joysticks. Be cautious of being fooled and avoid unnecessary legal disputes.
@@unknownl8154 in English please.
I’m honestly impressed by you taking the time to do this. Interesting how they are exactly the same design as the original sticks..
This won't be a problem when Gulikit finally releases their hall effect Elves joystick.
EDIT: I heard! They're out on Amazon now! I ordered a pair! I'm so happy!
EDIT 2: I can confirm that they are legit and they work perfectly.
they had "it working" as a prototype back in June lol
@@stemdeckesupreme164 my guess is they facing the same problem like this mod, there something in the board that keep reseting the stick
There is a listing on amazon for them right now.
I think you mistaken with the older apls version which they also made
@@アキレス-j2r No! It looks like the hall stick soft dropped on amazon! I just ordered a couple pairs, should be here next week
Damn, impressive yet disappointing
Hopefully they will start to sell perfect replacement joysticks soon
They're on sale on amazon right now. Actual replacement sticks!
Gulikit sells them, the same company that makes the King Kong 2 controller
Bulk eBay $30 for 10
There's a Hall Effect joystick replacement for Nintendo Switch. I think it's from GuliKit. You can buy it easily in game stores in my country. You don't have to destroy another joystick or a console with Hall Effect joystick.
Can you send me the link?
AKNES is a distributor for 8bitdo and Gulikit, so guessing GK soft launched now and will do a full announcement after Chinese NY
@@VKsChannel There's also the new Nyxi Wizard which is a Gamecube controller-design joycons that has Hall Effect sticks.
@@VKsChannelthey’re the replacement joysticks for their “elves” controller, gulikit has a page on their website for them
Well this is hopeful. Waiting for plug and play replacement sticks
Considering these sticks come from a dedicated device, and aren't sold as bare modules like JC replacement sticks, I have a feeling that the chip on the stick is expecting a different voltage. Say 5v compared to 3.3v (I have no idea what the Switch or other devices use, I'm just making an example) which would skew output negatively; similarly, if you take a 5v controller with potentiometers which would have a 2.5v center, and feed it 3.3v you would now have a 1.15v center, which is actually fairly close to the lower end of the usable voltage range considering carbon pot wipers have a much larger arc when the stickboxes themselves only have ~±23° of movement from center and this is further limited by the controller's stick gate. Depending on their actual implementation, this may be a limitation that isn't easily worked around, say if 5v is the lower end of the operating range for the chip, and a lower voltage variant isn't available. There also has to be some kind of IC, just look at the Steam Deck hall effect replacement sticks from GK, each board has an IC on it, look at the design of the KingKong 2/Zen Pro and notice the relevant hall sensor IC, you could even compare an 8BitDo Ultimate wired/wireless with the bluetooth version and see that the hall sticks have an additional IC.
What a strange experiment. I'm impressed you went through all the trouble.
Don't worry, I also broke SR and SL my cables trying to replace the sticks.
That looked like quite the pain to calibrate, and putting it to sleep just undoes all your effort.
so i recently got some of the k-silver joysticks and had the same issues as showcased on the video, after contacting the seller that i got them from, i received a photo showcasing that the joystick requires additional jumper cable soldered to the pcb to deliver more power to the joysticks. after i've done that, the joystick worked perfectly fine with no need for calibration at all
I heard about that
I ordered a pair and gonna make a video update on them soon too!
Well, thank for posting! Looks like Nintendo is finally going to get my reserve sets for repair... 4 sets that need the thumbstick replaced. I've grown far too tired of doing it myself when I'm not getting oem parts.
Amazon is a cheap band-aid on a bad wound... They work until they fall off!
Thanks for sharing this content!
I appreciate how above and beyond you went to attempt this mod and troubleshoot to the point of at least making the sticks functional despite unfortunately yielding a less than optimal outcome.
It definitely helps to understand a possibility or reasoning as to why HE sticks for JoyCons haven’t yet been officially released by GuliKit or other companies.
Although hall effect sensors are not new technology, it’s still interesting to see how you are able to manipulate the calibration and gameplay with an external magnet.
I can imagine the rollercoaster of anticipation for the results while working on this; The excitement to see such real potential after desoldering the sticks and having a near perfect match to the OEM Switch layout, the frustration with the level of time and effort involved with the calibration issues, and finally feeling real excitement after successfully calibrating and testing in game with great results. It was really cool to see your effort pay off! So, then being hit with the disappointment when restarting the console and realizing it is incapable of saving the calibration must’ve been pretty disappointing after all that effort. I felt bad for you, myself, and everybody else who was so happy to see what you achieved up until that point. 😢
If it didn’t require such a seemingly tedious amount of effort to recalibrate each time, I’d be left with an indifference that wasn’t strong enough to remove the HE sticks and would likely just do a quick calibration before playing, but in this case I’d replace with OEM sticks until GuliKit or K-Silver eventually releases a dedicated HE stick for JoyCons.
Hopefully you don’t have any issues reinstalling them on your Anbernic…
I have a set of the NYXI Wizard GameCube style JoyCons coming in the mail. They have full sized HE sticks and I noticed they’re also made by K-Silver. I hope the quality is equal to, or better than GuliKit’s HE sticks, but I’m worried they might be of a lower quality. Based on personal use with GuliKit’s KingKong 2 Pro, the sticks on mine are buttery smooth and accurate.
A major thumbstick element that most reviewers seem to neglect mentioning is whether or not they have the negative effect of latching onto the axis’ when your directional “dot” gets near them anywhere within the circle. It’s terrible for aiming, and as far as Nintendo products are concerned, the only controllers I’ve used with sticks that don’t get yanked over to the closest axis are the official Nintendo Pro Controllers, Official JoyCons (when working properly), 8BitDo’s SN30 Pro +, and GuliKit’s KingKong Pro 2. All other 3rd party controllers I’ve tried, including an officially licensed PDP FaceOff wired Switch controller have had this issue…
A short clip I saw reviewing the K-Silver HE sticks on the NYXI Wizard GameCube JoyCons seemed to still show a bit of that “axis latching issue” (without anybody mentioning it at all) but I’ve only heard good things about them, so I guess I won’t know until I receive my own set in a week or two.
Anyway… Sorry for the really long comment.
If you made it this far and still have the time, please let me know if those smaller K-Silver sticks seem to have the same problem I mentioned above.
Thanks again for the content!
the smaller k-silver sticks do not stick to the axis, and yea I have seen the NYXI wizard review and it does stick to the axis
this deadzone issue is a problem of the company that makes the controller not to the stick piece at all, in fact I put the original joycon sticks on the RG 505 and they had deadzones on the 505 but not on the joycons, the deadzone is a problem on the software side and not the hardware.
@@VKsChannel I posted a comment linking GuliKit’s ‘now available’ HE JoyCon replacements on Amazon…
I noted how there is a small caveat where there is a tiny gap that can be seen when you pull the thumb stick down, simply due a minor difference in the design of the thumbstick base, but it can be easily mitigated with a small black piece of paper/tape/etc…
I don’t know if links are allowed in comments, since I don’t see my comment anywhere. I’ll leave it out this time… Feel free to message me if you have any questions.
solution: never turn off the switch
Guilkit has one for:
-joy cons
-steam deck
-and their king kong 2 pro controllers
You said turn off, but that's actually sleep. For the Guilikit ones, they mentioned setting a calibration for their sticks and then turning it off and on(not sleep/wake). Not sure if that may work on these.
Guilkit released actual Switch compatible Hall Effect sticks.
What an absolute pain.
Oh... I thought these were the Gulikit ones and that they sent prototypes or something.
Gulikit just launched Hall effect joy on replacement stick kits.
Well the good news is that Gilikit is now selling them on Amazon in the US. $30 for a set of two replacement sticks, plus screws and screwdrivers.
6:20 You don't even have to take them apart! My virgin right Joy-Con that has never been disassembled had its Sync and SL buttons stop working!
Thats is a clever hack to get it working
I'm ordering mine soon and that's not the only way now. I'm getting a box of 4 from ali express with no desolder needed
on a side note i just got an oled switch with new joycons. im wondering if i should even make an effort to take care of my joycons 😭 you're right in that the side ribbon cables are so fragile. you'd think they'd reinforce it a bit especially since its located in a part that is exposed/moved a lot
Guiket just released their halleffect this week 😂
steam deck magnetic sticks include a button to center input
i guess these sticks require the same button
gulikit still sells their ns40 kit which is drop in, calibrate once.
they're just hard af to find with all the shortages.
I think we like always have to take matters in our hands , what big millionaire company can't do.
Gulikit hall joystick for Nintendo Switch Lite or Joy Con. Plus the cap is removable
They need to release modules for Ps4 and PS4 controllers.
Hello,ElecGear is doing these study.
The company "Agnes" is selling the gulikit hall effect sticks separately now with 2 sticks for $30 and 4 sticks for $52
Aknes
I already bought 2 pairs!
As soon as I get them I'll be making a video
the gulikit released hall effect sticks for joycons
Nyxi has released hall effect joycons, they're sold out currently but, easier to buy those when they're back in stock than this method
I'm sure someone is working hard on making these work. They're sitting on a gold mine. Joycons are constantly sold out because people keep buying replacements. If they solved this and sold the sticks for 20-40 a pair they'd make so much money.
Hey for the SL SR cable breaking, i think you are mounting it wrong, also sometimes brand new Joycon have them wrong, but my point is you make sure the cable goes under the plastic battery holder (the same you use for holding your cardboard against the stick) so it doen't get caught between battery and back cover and won't bend 180 degree, also not break after 2 or 3 teardowns.
at least that what i found after fixing my joycon drift thanks to your findings, so again thanks a lot for that !
They break under the plastic too I had them mounted in both ways
And both break very easily
@@VKsChannel oh okay nevermind then, i'm just lucky for now, thanks for the information
I wonder does it ever break the first time you open it? I replaced a number of joycon sticks and never had a problem with the SL SR cable breaking. I did a shell swap on a pair recently and did have one that had the same flickering playerlight problem but took it apart again reseated the connector in it’s port and the flickering was gone. So for me so far it did not break. Also my ribbon cable is always routed over the battery folded flat. If you look closely you can see that the back panel of the case is notched leaving some room for the cable…
@@kenalfaroponce4778 well for me it broke on my first joycon After 2 Times, and when i tested it xas broken on the flat bend spot, and since i place them under the battery cover i did not encounter any other issues
They are out on amazon as of yesterday or the day before. Gulikit NS40 sold by AKNES
Yeah I bought them
I don't know how the sticks send their positions to the Switch, but assuming they just send analog voltages for the potentiometer values, maybe it can be fixed by adding some diodes or resistors in series, or in worst case, the signals have to be amplified. If you are interested, you can try to measure voltages on the pins of the original sticks and the pins of the hall effect sticks and see what is the difference
It's definetly doable but it is a time consuming task and since gulikit is already working on these sticks I'd rather wait for their solution
If a long time goes by without the sticks coming out officially I'll try to work on it
@@VKsChannel Oh nice, I didn't know
You can now buy them from Gulikit
It’s like $30 for two sticks
Gulikit sells them they're called elves sticks
Guilikit sells the kit on amazon for $30 now. For switch or switch light
Yeah I bought them, gonna make a video when I receive it
You should put ribbon cable under the battery case
Yes I'm doing that now
Your intro makes me want to test stuff 🔥😤🤙
Bro eat some vitamins - you're shaking 😳
It's because the camera was zoomed in
Why youtube not update me tp your videos...
You need to turn on the bell for notifications
its the yellow among us in the thumbnail
I found these sticks on alibaba/aliexpress for 30$
Yes it was updated after i posted this video
That’s cool why can’t Nintendo do that
IS THERE ANY WAY TO ADD HALL EFFECT JOYSTICKS FOR XBOX/PS5 CONTROLLERS?? ill litterally learn how to solder and learn engineering and pay as much as i need to in order to get it
Gulikit makes these for the switch for like 40 bucks. You dont need to rip them out of another device.
Yeah but they were not available at the time of this video
Soo... What is the hall effect?
Hall effect = magnetic analog stick
It's internal parts don't make contact so they don't wear easily
I got really excited, i thought they finally released the joysticks on their own...
No that would mean Nintendo would’ve admitted they lied about the quality of their joy cons and would immediately lose the lawsuit.
TRY CALIBRATING USING JCTOOLKIT ON PC!!
I did and it didn't work
@@VKsChannel so sad
Why not just order the hall effect joy stick replacements directly off Amazon?
Because at the moment of this video they were not available
THE SL SR BROKE, SAME
there is the Gulikit ones that are sold on Amazon that are better
hello good, at minute 6:07 it mentions that the Flex of the SL/SR and the SYNC button of the left joycon broke, I created a button by soldering a certain part of the board, I did the same with my right joycon exclusively for PC use now I was tired that the flex broke easily since it happened to me 2 times even opening it delicately, so I was able to find 2 points to solder to make the bluetooth SYNC button of the right joycon work, with the detail that the SL / SR could not use them , but that doesn't interest me if I use them on PC as long as I can use the joycons on both PC and Switch. I am happy. This is what I did. It is the correct joycon. but on the left you can find the 2 solder points and create a button that should be the same system just in a different location you can search for it like in GBATEMP: Point found to solder to create a SYNC Bluetooth button on the right joycon in case the flex cable broke
It is an option but i like to have the joycon lights working too and the SL and SR buttons functional
nice vid!!
Aren't you able to purchase Ambernic's hall effect joysticks from their store directly for like $20?
No
The website doesn't have the parts
Can you send me the link?
They actually sell the hall effect sticks in Anbernic's website, I didn't have to buy the whole handheld in order for me to get the hall effect sticks. I believe they cost $20 per stick
It's not for sale anymore
@@VKsChannel I bet they stopped selling them because the new gulikit drop in hall sticks that just soft dropped on amazon a couple days ago can work without that anbernic-specific extra daughter board plugged in.
Must need
You do realize that you can buy Hall effect joysticks from gullikit right?
When this video was posted they were not available
it will fit perfectly with a switch lite, but doing the calibration every time is just sad.
did u solve the calibration save problem ?
no, but there is new analog sticks from gulikit
Will never understand the appeal of joy cons. Just get a grip controller with Hall sticks. Basically half the price if you don’t buy a carrying case.
Impossible to get? Gulikit literally sells them around 35$ iirc.
This video came before that
is gulikit elves jocon replacement kit hall effect?
No
5:09 I know how to fix this, just never turn off your switch
I misspelled to so I re edit lol
Someone do this for Xbox and Playstation
cant believe others are still living in a cave
gulikit has hall effect joycon kit already
are they expensive? not yet unless they get scalped and get resold lol
Check the update video
What the hell. I've installed these guilkit in mine Switch OLED and my friend's V1. Nothing like this happened in our case. I didn't have to even calibrate it because they vere perfectly in 0 position. As a person with totally no experience in electronics I've had no problem with open joycons and didn't broke anything inside it. As a matter of fact the same thing I've did with Steam Deck (with some help because of soldering) and one again everything just worked. Maybe it have something to do with using analogs from different device. Maybe try dedicated set, it's not that pricey.
k-silver or alps is better potentionmeter?
I think ksilver is better
Generally most drifting controllers have alps sticks
@@VKsChannel 8bitdo ultimate have 2 variants, one with xbox logo ( alps) and another with 8bitdo logo( k silver), i confused
what game where you playing?
ninjala
This was simultaneously very informative and extremely disappointing...
Nintendos stick calibration tool is so dumb. Isn't stuff like this exactly what it should be designed for? Yet it requires the sticks to pretty much already be calibrated to start calibrating.
what game is at 4:46 ?

joy cons sucks nintendo sucks
