Because of cigarette smoke? For me, I HATE the smell, and I CAN'T breath! I would try to get it out of the doll but if I can't then I would have to sell them.
@@style_icon997 No, he was talking about the people that ruin good deals for people and the snobbery that goes on. I see it all the time in Facebook groups. The American Girl community honestly has a lot of upper class middle aged "Karens".
I think collectors going to sellers like that is extremely rude and petty. Sure it's natural to be jealous when someone gets a good deal on something but you should just be happy for that person and go about your day.
Another rare doll is the original GOT 19. She originally had dark brown hair with bangs and gray eyes. This edition was available from 1995-1999. In 1999 number 19 was changed to lighter brown hair and green eyes.
My proudest purchases are Cecile for $166, which was literally all I had left at the time, or my most recent purchase #49 for $89; her name is Annalise. Also, agree to disagree on the naming. I feel disrespectful if I don't give my girls a name. That might be because I'm a writer who loves creating characters, but I feel it's important to give each of my dolls a name, story, personality, and so on. My Holy Grail doll is #10. I agree that the Pleas. Co. pure black hair is so pretty. I doubt I'll ever get her considering I've never even seen her listed but if I did she would definitely be the golden girl on my collection.
If you list a doll for X amount of money and it sells, you should give the person that doll for the amount of money they paid. You listed the doll, you sold it, you didn't know the doll's worth. You as the seller were the one who didn't do their research. Your loss. End of story.
Yeah, but I can't blame anyone who's hurting for money- if you realized you had hundreds of dollars fall through your hands and you hadn't yet mailed out the doll, I get it.
I've been looking for a 6 for a while too but the prices are insane. I bought a black wig and used an old (pale paint) JLY13. Looks exactly like her so I'm happy with my fake 6 ❤
I’m so glad you got her! She’s a beauty! I’m sorry you’ve had those past experiences and honestly I think it’s so unfair that people reach out to the seller to offer more or discuss the value of the doll to the seller. Let people get their chances to a deal of a lifetime along with their dream doll!
Such a gorgeous doll! I’m shocked that American Girl only offered her for a short time. If she is retailing at $1,500 for some resellers wouldn’t it be smart for AG to sell her for money? My opinion, once the sale is final it’s final otherwise it should be fraud. I think you can actually report them to the provider of the sell of this as some countries that’s super illegal
She’s not a very remarkable doll. She has pie-cut bangs, brown hair and brown eyes. Nothing special, she looks just like #16. I have the second version of #6, and I love her bright green eyes 🥰
I had the same experience. Found a trashed white body kirsten. Purchased for $100... then they canceled the order, relisted for triple. And it sat on the market forever. I'm not sure if it ever sold. 🤔
Congratulations! I don’t think you should call her by her factory number. Make this beauty your own by giving her a beautiful name, then she will feel loved. For this girl, I like the names Crystal, Tatiana, Annalise, Margo, Brigitte, Cher, Annika Alexandra, Celeste, Pearl, or Silke
I can’t believe people do that! All I can say to stuff like that is you get what you put out into world threefold and karma will come back. I think based on her rarity and your past stories of trying to add her to your collection you should name her Anastasia which means “she will rise again.” Congrats on your beautiful new doll!
Love the Trixie Mattel pillow! Congrats on finding this beauty of a doll, too. She looks so much like my first AG doll I got in 2000, although mine had slightly less dark hair and def is not rare 😂
I wish sellers could/would clarify if the doll has any defining smells to it for people who are sensitive to certain smells, especially cigarette smoke because once the smell enters your nose it can sting your lungs, or at least does for me. Unrelated to that but I think if I could choose any doll to buy or a doll that is rare in my eyes I would pick JLY #12 or Gwen Thompson because they look the most like me, I hope they start to make dolls with bangs again
I've had three sellers cancel on me this week because of that same situation on Mercari. Honestly sick of these collectors, they are so aggressive and then I see the items sitting there days later unsold. SO frustrating.
Ya know, if someone has mislabeled a doll, I do speak up. But usually it’s up to the seller to do their research and set their prices. I had no idea about this doll in particular & think she is really unique. Just ‘Six’ would be a great name. Thanks for sharing ^_^.
Yeah I’ve told sellers in the past when they’ve mislabeled a doll, but they don’t listen and they don’t change their listings so now I don’t bother anymore. Let them figure it out when no one is buying their doll as the price they’re asking for.
Happens allll the time. I had a similar situation not too long ago where I was purchasing an Ivy for only $50 in pretty good condition. Then the seller messaged me and apologized, saying someone else had given her a really good offer for the doll. She said she would sell mer her Nellie for the same $50 price, which I wasn’t too upset about and accepted since that’s still a great deal, but was a bit sad since I really wanted Ivy. Thankfully the other buyer ended up falling through before she shipped Nellie and she sent me Ivy. I just don’t understand collectors who do that and don’t even end up buying the doll afterwards.
Don't give up! 48 was just on my radar as a doll I'd like to have but someone posted that they found one thrifting and I could buy it off her. We are still friends 2 years later
Congrats! You got a beautiful doll! 😍 and I'm glad that you didn't pay a fortune for her. I think that once a Seller is paid, they should not back out of a deal. In my book, it's not right to turn around and cancel a done deal.
Admittedly, I did message a seller once about a rare Webkinz plush and regretted it pretty quickly cause it’s honestly fucked up to hijack a good deal like that for someone. I’ll never do it again and I’m sorry you’ve had that happen to you multiple times!! Congrats on finally getting your #6☺️😌
I have a custom orginal 6 and orginal 18 so while they aren't the actual dolls they look identical. They were actually really cheap to custom make it cost me 110 to make my own number 6 and it cost me 70 to make orginal 18.

I have been searching for a good Lindsey for so long. She did not come with her meet outfit. But she is a beautiful doll and I got her for a really good price! So i am super happy! I may have to keep an eye out for number 6 at the thrift stores. It is amazing what you can find in them!

Wow, what drama for a doll, lol. She is beautiful and I am so glad you were able to get her. I am fairly new to collecting AG but I wanted to ask you a question. How do you tell which dolls are the originals particularly with the Truly Me dolls? As for collectors, the thrill should be in the hunt, not in undercutting someone. Shame on them. Enjoy your new doll.
Omg she is so so pretty and so cute also just a tip if u didn’t know u can put her in a plastic tub with a lid and surround her with dryer sheets and that helps get rid of cigarette smoke or at least for me it’s worked. I forgot to mention I did find the first Nutcracker set with the doll all MIB for a really good deal. I love looking for American Girl stuff It's a blast
Hi I love #1 and #6 their beautiful doll's I'm so happy for you that you got orginal #6. It's not nice with messaging sellers bullying them into making the doll even more and outrageous bidding wars. Theirs alot of resellers who don't know alot about AG and how some dolls are more harder to come by. They just know it's an AG doll and they don't want her no more. While theirs other resellers who know a little bit or know alot about AG and how valuable some dolls are. In my experience in getting dolls off eBay and once on Facebook which I manly go on I don't go onto other resell site but have looked a few times.
Wow that whole story is so unbelievably awful, I’m glad you were able to get her! Yay! ❤ don’t worry about the cigarette smoke. I have a #29 that arrived smelling like a smokehouse. Her wig was destroyed so I ripped off the smoky wig and put on a brand new wig from a #107 (the closest match I could find) it looks great on her. I ‘washed’ her torso and her vinyl parts with a magic eraser. Now she doesn’t smell smoke at all. I named her ‘Clover’ after the clove cigarettes that everyone loved to smoke in the Noughties 😂😂 I have the second release of the GOT #6, and love her bright green eyes so much 🥰 I named her Janeen after my beloved first cousin, who also has blonde hair and green eyes. Janeen unfortunately got stage 4 colon cancer at a young adult age, and she had to have her bowel removed. She has 3 little kids, so dealing with a colostomy every day is difficult. So I’m always sending her healing and love vibes through my #6 Janeen doll ❤
Yaaaasss Kris! I paid 300 for mine like 4 Years ago and im like damn im glad and at the time I was like hmmm thats alot 😂 someone on fb helped me! I'm soooo excited for you!
What that’s horrible. If someone got a deal on a doll they wanted, I’d be happy for them and congratulate them, not harass them. People can be so mean 😕 I’m a seller of video game stuff and have that happen to me where buyers will fight with me about stuff. My experience in buying and selling collectibles and dolls is that some of the collectors can be very much so jerks. I’m sorry that happened to you.
I agree, nobody should do any behind the scenes bidding war. That would piss me off! I can understand informing some sellers if they have a named doll, help them a little. But you were the high bidder, & just cncelling on you like that, not just bad business, bad form! Like come on, have some respect for those interested in buying. A great deal, is a great damn deal!
She's beautiful! What a great find! Wow, that's absolutely ridiculous that people will message a seller about how much something is worth. When I find a good deal, I keep it to myself and make the purchase, or either be happy for whoever else got it. If the seller doesn't know enough about the item to list it for what it's "worth" (an arbitrary amount made up by selfish people), then so be it.
sooooo.... you're telling me that my childhood doll that I absolutely ruined and ripped the wig off of is being sold for how much? omfg I could cry lmaoooo
Wow congrats I have to look through my dolls and see what I have if I have one probably not but I just collect I have no idea the numbers I have hundreds of dolls this may take a while
I understand that it’s frustrating to lose out on an amazing deal, but it feels kinda bad to paint the other collectors as like. elitist fun ruiners in this context because the amount of money that doll sells for can potentially make a real difference in someone’s life. If I saw a rare doll listed for that low of a price I’d probably let the seller know what’s up too tbh, even though I wouldn’t be able to afford the proper price. I don’t like seeing people be ripped off in deals, from either end. When the difference is smaller, like even up to the seller could be making 50 more dollars it’s sorta whatever. But going from making 100 to 900 dollars is super significant. If I saw it happen I would feel like a bad person for not letting the seller know, even if I wasn’t at all interested in the doll myself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ this is totally a matter of personal philosophy, and I’m not saying you searching out a deal is like. evil or whatever. But I also think it’s unfair to paint the other collectors clueing these sellers in as “vultures”, when, even though they’re trying to get the doll themselves, they’re also helping the seller out.
It’s from the American girl of today line, called the “birthday outfit” or sometimes the “lawn party outfit” it was released in 1998 and retired in 1999 so it can be hard to find!
Bellissima, deliziosa con la sua meravigliosa chioma nera e lo sguardo dolce (somiglia molto a Samantha). Beautiful, delightful with her wonderful black hair and the sweet glance (looks like much Samantha). 😘😍😻
Wow was it really less then a year :o I thought . I thought it was 2 I got SOOOOOOOO lucky with mine 🤣 I paid 325 shipped perfect condition 2 years ago I thought this was a lot haha now I’m like woooo deal 🤣🤣
Feel free to guess down below before the premiere of who you think she is!? 🤭🤫🥳

I love that fruit outfit. Is that from AG, or another brand, because I want to track it down for my dolls.
It’s from the American girl of today line, called the “birthday outfit” or sometimes the “lawn party outfit” it was released in 1998 and retired in 1999 so it can be hard to find!
Lol I know its a Old Video but I totally wouldve named her Nikkie after Nikkie Sixx.
What about the homeless American girl
I would name her Seis.
Cute! 🌹
Is it too on the nose to name her Rarity?
Name the doll Rachel.
Bellissima, deliziosa con la sua meravigliosa chioma nera e lo sguardo dolce (somiglia molto a Samantha).
Beautiful, delightful with her wonderful black hair and the sweet glance (looks like much Samantha).
