    Good stuff, the spark plugs and wires are a pain in the rear to get them through and plugged back in. I did that on mine because it wasn't starting like it wasn't even coughing or sputtering just cranking. So I took off the easiest one which was like number 3 there but was still incredibly difficult to actually see the spark anyway. Though a few days later like a lot of days later that plug wire got ridiculously loose from that one unplug. So it ran bad after that oh the no starting was from the ignition switch in there so imma probably change that one day I did try cleaning it tho and it helped. I did the tune up on it too actually because i now had to, and it is annoying to get like almost all of them really all except 4 back there yeah. When I needed to remove them WHOOOOH BOI 4 was hecking TIGHT. I had to (I don't recommend it really) had to use a pipe over my rachet WITH like a 7 inch extension or longer. Don't recommend that because you can easily snap that spark plug. Though good things came from that it came loose after that, them plugs were nasty I'll tell you what. Specially 4 for me, that cylinder needs to have an eye kept on it which I will do. I commend you doing the wires there it took me all day, I started late in the day but god it was annoying fishing them through the alternator.

    Thanks for posting! This was very helpful to change the thermostat, fan clutch, and radiator cap and flush the heater core on my 2003 Sonoma! A word of caution for anyone doing this job: Be sure to remove the PCV elbow between the upper plenum and the valve cover! The nipple in the valve cover is thin aluminum and WILL BREAK if the hose is not removed! Good luck finding a replacement! The thermostat that I bought did not come with a gasket and had to be purchased separately. Pretty strait forward job, if you don't make extra work for yourself! Thanks again!

    dexcool wasent required in the older 2.2s and the radiator cap is a press down and then turn kind.

    What if you change it and it just blows cold air still?

    Does that engine not require the DEX-COOL stuff recommended for all GM engines?

      Yes it does require dex-cool
      Customer provided the parts and was informed that its not the correct fluid. He said hes been putting green coolant for over 6 years

    Is there not a gasket for the thermostat housing?

    • @JaboTheMechanic
      @JaboTheMechanic  5 років тому

      The the thermostat itself has a black ring gasket. That will be the gasket for the thermostat.
