Quite amazing that you could race side-by-side and hold the high line for several laps! The conversion to concrete eliminated that. Extremely hard to pass, and Dover was the same way before 1995.
Yet people bitch and cry for the pre 2007 concrete one groove Bristol, we got the multi groove Bristol back when they started applying the PJ1 to the bottom groove and I actually prefer this style racing, asphalt Bristol is the real "Old Bristol" I've enjoyed every asphalt Bristol race I've watched because of this.
man, look at those beautifully sculpted works of art called real stock cars. shaped and formed like bullets. those t birds and monte SS aero coupe's were as beautiful as they were fast. back when you could actually buy these same cars at your local dealership on Sunday when your favorite either finished well or won the race. sadly, today's NASCAR's boring/average looking next gen cars are overpriced and you can't actually buy them. i miss the win on Sunday sell on monday mantra/tagline. plus, add in the fact that these old time cars were driven by some really talented, hard working, trail blazing, blue collar drivers.
NASCAR stopped being STOCK back in 1981 when they shortened the wheelbases to 105in. I suggest brushing up on your aero-wars history before spreading such uneducated filth
This is back in the day!!!, I can't believe how much Bristol has changed 😮
Dale let Richard finish on the lead lap, that was class act!
