Thank you for this clutch video. So genuine and helpful 🤘🏽
Thank you Gabriel!

I've been searching videos for info to start out and you are by far the easiest to listen to and the most informative 👍
Late reply, I watched the whole video, but appreciate how you get straight to the basic points, then break down the details for the ones interested. Hope you’re doing well.
Thank you! Super helpful!
👌👌👌 Thank you great explanatory video
Really COOL! I did want to know this difference! Thank you. Especially the bonus tip on the respirator! Was going to ask you about it!
Have you compared the HARDCORE cans or the 94s? Or tried out the Luminous / Chalk / Marble / Metallic Cans? Thank you again!
yoo thank you so much this was super helpful
Thanks slug!!
Hey Rolyo. I’m new to your channel and I’m actually working on a small project. I’m doing a small wooden chair for my nephew. I went to an art store today and saw black and gold and didn’t know the difference and now I’m here. Which one would you say has a better quality?
Also if they need to clean w water, will the paint come off? I want to make sure I use the right one that will last long w a good quality
Thanks!
Hi Mario, welcome to the channel! I always suggest taking a piece of scrap wood and testing it on that before anything but you shouldn’t have a problem. Make proper preparations as far as sanding or priming etc. and as far as cleaning the caps, there will always be many people with several ways to clean them. I use acetone for this and haven’t had any problems. Good luck!
Good shit dude glad I racked those filters and face mask from work
skip to 1:20 for the actually video to start...
Thank you so much so far I like how you get to the point not using the scenic route
Great break down im just trying to paint a g pro wireless but good to know.
Thanks for this video.
Do you know if a vinyl sticker will adhere well to the matte finish of Montana Gold spray paint?
Any tips on applying a vinyl sticker to that paint much appreciated!
I'm doing up an old steel frame bicycle - for the fun of it :)
At the moment painting my guitar, just got the primer done thinking how about trying a two colour shade paint with MB... Nothing too fancy, just darkening edges of body. Now thinking would you recommend using MCold with shading as it is les presure and so les aggressive with spurt? Very nice quick look at MB sprays with an important extra! Like your style, straight in to point with no chitchat 👌
Nice vid bro
Thank you for the lungs 🫁 speech . Finna buy one ❤
I found that it was easy to find the differences between them on Montanas homepage
So, Montana Gold is an "Acrylic Lacquer", which I take to mean it's made of pigment and solvent, can be resprayed any time, and that if sprayed over acrylic enamel, the solvent will eat the enamel up. Have you had this kind of experience?
My case: I'd like to feather Montana Gold Flame Blue over a Duplicoler auto color; current thinking is: 1. Test, 2. Probably lay down the Montana Lacquer first and feather the Duplicoler on top instead.
That’s very interesting. I haven’t done a dedicated test on this, but I can say that I use both black and gold in mostly everything I do and haven’t had any problems. But after reading the AutoColor part then yes I can see where you might run into issues. Is there a way you can get a lacquer in both?
Can't get a lacquer for the purpose; have the auto color now anyway.
A rough test on cardboard seems to show basic compatibility. Am painting on fiberglass, so I can sand any disasters off - don't want to need to, of course...
Dang I forgot to think about respiration thanks vid was helpful
Thank you, Phyllis.
Have you ever used this paint on a fiberglass surface and wet sand the matte finish and varnish for a super hi gloss finish ?i was curious to use this paint on a gas powered rc boat
I found some comments annoying, so I just wanted to say as someone who doesn't know ish THIS was very helpful. Thank you!
nice tips, i did graffiti back inn the 80s to 90s and im starting again with my 11 year old son.
why did the first 2 peaces with loop but next time i get some Montana gold , i think it is easer for my son because he is not so fast in sprayinng outlines.
Greetings from germany
Sweet brother. I’d like to see your stuff
So your experience what style spray can work best for your son? I tried to get my daughter into spray painting and she really wants to but isn't strong enough to comfortably spray. She's 7
Hi, what mask did you use here? I’m using Montana gold chrome but have no idea which full face mask to get? Please could you help where you got your mask from? Thanks
thank you!!!
Ur kinda awsome for this. Thank you.
No, thank you!
No, thank you!
Which version would be better to paint a bicycle frame with?
Great video. I want to paint on a plastic surface gold or black is more suitable
Does one dry faster than the other? Thanks for the video
Im gonna start using Montana Black Cans for NYC Subway Tunnels! The reason why, because it will last a Life Time Durable, Permanent & Weather Wise! My selective colors is Silver & Black!
gracias 🙏
Great content, very much appreciated! Excellent advice about the respirator too! Macho men do without and that is not smart.
Please don't add music, makes it hard to hear and ears hurt after a while. Too much sound overall.
Less hand gestures would be less distracting.
I want to paint my metal cast iron furniture. I will probably sand blast or wire wheel them clean, spray Loctite Rust Neutralizer on them to prep and then...
I wonder if you have any info on using automotive spray paints - adding mica tint for a pearlescent color - then finishing off with a gel coat. It would be great to have high gloss pearly teal/ turquoise/ blue green furniture. Tired of the old Victorian chalky white or dark green - yuk! I want a splash of color. Are automotive paints also acrylic lacquers? Please - any info on this would be very much appreciated!
I know i am late but can you hydro dip with Montana gold?
Yo bro, what store did you go where you can see two racks of montanas for sale? I wanna go there
Artist and Craftsman Supply in Miami.
Can I also use a mouthguard?
Montana Black costs like 3,60€ where i live!😅
costs the equivalent of 6.50euro where i live :'(
Can the Montana gold be used on carbon fiber bike frame? Thanks for this. I bought the gold and am disappointed with the low pressure it’s hard to swipe. Also it’s textured!! Do you know if I spray clear coat of it will smooth out?
Hi, I never tried the carbon fiber application but I don’t see why not. It would be best to maybe take a sample and test it on that first if you can. The spray coat should be fine as long as you let it cure. There’s a dry time and a cure time.
@@rolyocreative thank you for responding to my question. Is it natural for the gold Montana can in shock black to spray and leave a texture (bumpy rough)?
That has also been my experience with it as well.
@@rolyocreative thank you so much!
Which art store did you buy the montana golds from? I’m also in south florida. Thank you
I got them from a little shop called Artist and Craftsman Supply. It’s on SW 7th Street and 27th Ave. I don’t know the current cost but they were on sale when I got them.
I found some Montana Gold in a Michaels. Check there if there’s some nearby
Montana black- normal budget
Montana gold- high budget
Montana white- low budget
(I know he's not talking about montana white)
low budget gang
Just got 17 of the blacks on sale for like 100 bucks..... worth it they were like $5 and some change per can
That’s badass!
Do these ffp2 corona masks also work to protect my lungs
For painting wheels is the Black or the Gold better?
Could it be that the Black line produce a orange peel easier than the Gold ones?
The paint has a lot to do with it but the focus should mainly lie in the prep work. Not sure about wheels. Do you mean rims on a vehicle?
Yes, my 20 Inch BMW rims..
I would like to paint them black. I used a primer before and then used the black from the Monatana Black Line. Unfortunately it became very spotty. Now I have ordered the Shok Black from the Gold Line in the hope that it will be better.
Thanks for the specifics. Reminds me of something I discovered on accident a while back. It’s called “Tuff Top” for concrete driveways and it’s only sold at Sherwin Williams. I spilled some on some furniture a while back and was amazed at the results. I then painted the rims on my jeep (keep in mind it’s not a BMW) and there were no streak marks at all. At this point I would recommend you try that on something cheap and see the results. I used it on just about everything black I own but do your due diligence before using on your rims. Either option, make sure you use an alcohol base to clean the surface prior to painting. Hopefully the spray you already ordered works for you but if not, look into the Tuff Top option as an alternative. I’d love to hear how it worked out either way.
@@rolyocreative Oh man, I have to thank you for the quick and detailed answer!!
If it doesn't work with the black from the Gold Line, I'll definitely try tuff top, thanks for the tip!
I will report on my experiences.
acetone is paint thinner. great vid, thanks man
What’s your favorite shop to get cans in Miami bro?
Artist and Craftsman Supply (Little Havana) Buy I’m gonna try some places online to see if you f I find something cheaper.
@@rolyocreative bet bro thank you
Nah thank you!
which one is the most similar to a regular rustoleum can?
Honestly not sure. Rust oleum is more of an enamel. I’m gonna look into it.
@@rolyocreative montana gold. I picked up some cans the other day. As far as pressure goes it is like your run of the mill spray paint.
What's the most durable one for use on asphalt?
That’s a tough one. I’d love to take both and see which one works best. Maybe you can get one of each and do a test?
I'm going to do a mural for my fiancé on an asphalt area. I'll use both types in different areas and we'll see how they gold up. Thanks, love your videos
I want Gold but can’t find Gold in Matte finish? Is it that they don’t make Black matte with the Gold Brand.?
Hi all, I am in miniatur wargames 30MM high models with a lot of Details. I search for a good way to spraycan with a prime coat (ideally in different colours, depending on the miniature) the minis before details are colored with airbrush or brush. What would be a good can to do so?. I need a stable thin Coat. No spots or irregularity while spraying as this screws up the details of the miniature.. what would you fo for? Regards, Kube
Hi Kube, it seems like you’re probably better off going with the airbrush for the details, but these Montana cans are great option for background fills for them. I would suggest using the low pressure “Montana gold” brand for best results if you’re worried about the spotting. Also, grab some scrap plastic or similar materials and run a test spray before spraying on the actual minis. I hope this helps and let me know what you end up growing with!
Hi, I tested on actual miniatures. The spray was a little spotty and sticky... potentially one has to use a different cap? 🤷♂️ I could use a paint thinner to smooth it a little... but it was an extra step I would like to save. At the moment I would only be OK to recommend the cans for terrain in miniature wargaming. I test a car undercoating spray can to see if this turns out with a better result😉
Thanks for following up Kube. Sorry it was spotty for you. I’m actually going to use these shortly to continue a beach mural on an aluminum fence. I’ll post a video on it shortly. The smallest item I ever painted was a model car and I did that with paintbrush. Let me know your progress and what ends up working for you.

Hi, I agree airbrush is a great option.. I was just not able to spend >300,- to spend :)
Thank you for this I make tumblers and trays😅 and I went to micheals and they couldnt tell me the differences.
And whats the difference between montana hardcore and all the other ones??
Which one should I use for legal graffiti
That’s completely up to you. Try as many brands until you find one that works for you. I like the Montana’s
where'd you buy them
are they all acrylic i need bik paint and it has to be a lacquer or someething that last. not wash off.
It's all about what and were your going to paint (me painting a boat) - Go with Montana Gold. Just a little tip if you whant your stuff to last ✌🇸🇪
How big is the boat?
@@rolyocreative 15ft long and 5ft wide
What’s the difference between them and the Montana 94
I haven’t tried them to be honest. I just stuck with the gold and black but that’s a great idea for a future video!
4:50 😳 dang bro. That topic hit a nerve? Hahah use whatever you want. Nobody is stopping ya
"Montana BLACK is a high-pressure Nitro-Combination based" and Montana GOLD is quick-drying acrylic based paint.
Imagine trying to tag with a big ass mask like that
I don’t tag
Montana Black also acrylic ?
i bought the montana black for 4 EYRO in my nearest art shop
Very nice!
You might mention a big difference between acrylic and lacquer paint.... acrylic will go on much thicker it's almost like Wax but it's not as durable of a paint whereas the lacquer is a little bit thinner, seems like it might have greater chance of dripping but it's a much more durable longer-lasting paint. . . and I'm not referring to the durability of the color, like fading and such.. I'm referring to the durability of the actual paint itself..like from getting chipped or scratched or rubbed off...let's say you painted your bike.. you would want to use the lacquer not the acrylic..
@treykearns4867 Montana Blacks doesn’t fade until 15 years
I buy one can in Germany for like 3,65€ from the Montana gold and black so both are very cheap
They are obviously cheaper in Germany than in the US. Here in Sweden they cost $4.20 for black and $5.50 for gold.
William Redshield okay that a lot.
Which one got better colour? Montana Gold or black?
They’re both made by Montana Cans so the quality is the same for both, one just has more variety of color and is a low pressure can for more control so it’s bit more expensive.
@@rolyocreative can you tell me one more thing? Which orange color is very similar to the ktm duke wheel colour. I want to paint them. But i got confused about the colour variations. Can you tell me which orange color should i use?
I’m not sure which one would be best for you since it depends on what you’re trying to achieve. As far as the color wheel, I have not tried all of the oranges yet. What I could recommend is to go to the Montana Cans website and I believe you can request a color sample brochure via mail. 👍
My art store sells them for about $6.99 for the Gold and 94 cans.
IFUCKINHATEY0UTUBE Ok. Let us know where your art store is located and spell out the url
I am from switzerland and they sell the blacks for 7.50 swissfranks, and the golds for 14.90Swissfranks. thats pretty expensive
in the netherlands the blacks cost about 4 euros which is 4,86 dollars.
👀
In my local shop are for less than 5 eur...
Sweet. Yeah over here they’re pretty expensive at the stores. I’m looking for a place to buy wholesale (in bulk) maybe online. I’ll upload a solution if I find one.
Montana black from twitch entered the chat.
Respiratory and cap cleaning? I still don't know the difference in Gold vs Black.... hahaha
Knock off steve-o
steve o with hair
Lmao. Thats the only reason i clicked on the video
I feel kinda stupid but I wish it was explained what's the difference between low and high pressure (still novice...)
Low pressure is easier to control and get clean lines with but not exactly good for speed or large areas
High pressure is good for quick coverage in large areas but harder to control
What about montana white. Nobody talks about montana white i am sad😭
No worries pitsos, I’ll make a video about the Montana white!
@@rolyocreative dope man 👍
and White?
shit first time i saw thumbnail - i thought steve.o gonna tell me something about spraypaint.
aderance ?
One is High pressure/other is low pressure..
Simple black is for throw ups and tags. Gold is for pieces
I use montana black for my mural work, much better coverage than belton , loop etc.
Yeah I love how the black fills. How much do they run on average in the UK?
@seinerOne Montana Blacks are permanent & durable & i use it for tags
Steve I doing graf reviews now?
IDE like to share some of my art and see what you think?
I don’t know why I’m just now seeing this but sure! Send it over.
Do you have a link?
Actual answer starts at 1:25
It has nothing to do with pressure, Montana Gold is just more premium paint, Black is still good though.
In Bosnia Montana is 4$
Wow! That’s crazy
no no no i use spray carburetor cleaner, just pull the cap off the cleaner and stick you paint cap on and spray. the one big advantage you didn't mention for using low pressure paint is there's a lot less over spray, over spray can turn a great painting into crap....
Montana Gold and Black are the same, same pressure, same colours just different lacquer bases. Slight pressure differences.
looks more like a Tasters Choice jar
please dumb it down a bit more. what does high vs low pressure mean? One spreads faster and harder to control aka high pressure? As a noobie, who wants to use spray paint on canvas here and there, and mix it up, should I go with low pressure one?
Hey glad I found yr page I’m a newbie I need all think I can have new subscribers
Welcome!
When did Slug start doin graffiti???
Neither of them come with their own caps right? Rookie here lol
Yeah they do. They’re not bad actually. I’m a rook myself
Can somebody help me come up with a graffiti name for me
I would recommend that you start with letters that you’re best at writing and build a name based off those letters. And then maybe do a search for names that are taken and go from there.
