I have all of the Mars books in the Science Fiction Book Club editions that feature Frazetta covers on all but one book, I forget which one, that features a cover by Richard Corbin. The dust jackets are the best physical features of the books which are typical of the very low end production values of SFBC books of the time.

I own the complete set of omnibus paperbacks but they are not nearly as nice as the hard cover books. I introduced one of my daughters to Burroughs last summer so I’ll give her my set of Tarzan paperbacks.

What an amazing box! I'll certainly have to pick something up to support them...while waiting for them to make their editions of the Barsoom series so I can upgrade that entire line of essentials from those paperbacks into something that'll survive a dozen rereadings in my lifetime.

A lot of the early stuff was written to be serialized in magazines, so you'd get a new "chapter each week." They're made to be easy read in short bursts. Many of his works are public domain so you can throw them on a Kindle or something for nothing now. Most of the "Mars" series is out there, for example.

Funny that they would send you that because I was going to email you to ask if you have ever read the ERB Universe books. I hadn't seen you review any or talk about them and I kinda figured you had not. I hope you enjoy the Geary book enough to want to try the other books. I especially think the Victory Harben book by Christopher Paul Carey is especially fun and I can't imagine anyone who loves the Pellucidar and Mars series would not love it. Great stuff by the way and since I already had some books in my cart I intend to use your code. 😀
