  • Went for a cruise on the eSkate to get some lunch and enjoy a nice Sunday. Rode 4 miles each way to make an 8 mile trip. Top speed was 29mph (47kph). Overlaid with GPS data from the trip. Filmed this on the GoPro.

    Looks like the winter park/aloma trail. I used to longboard that trail with my dogs all the time lol. Love the kydex vids you did btw! Going to attempt kydex for my board.

    You live in a beautiful place man, which state? You were going 30mph, that's insane. So awesome

    Super impressive! Love the data on the side. What did you use to measure that? Beautiful board man, those are the speeds I'd like to get my future set up too. Just subscribed. I'll check your other videos to see if you have a step by step of your build

    Approximately how much does this board cost

    Quick question, I know you said you are running 4x Zippy 3S 5000mAh, is there a certain C raiting on those batteries? Does the C rating matter? Should I go with 20C, 30C, or 40C?

    • @barnes_specialty
      @barnes_specialty  8 років тому

      Yes the C rating matters. C x Ah = allowable amperage draw. So say a 20C battery @ 5Ah(5000mAh) = 20 x 5 = 100A. Now with that said depending on your VESC settings regen can hammer the batteries pretty good and the charge rating on some batteries is 1C. I might have damaged mine some with regen, but not really sure. They seem to have high internal resistance. I have 20C now and plan on going higher when I hook up the BMS. I am not sure how accurate the C ratings are on these chinese lipos, but theoretically higher will be better to some point.

    Hey Barnes'd, what type of deck did you get? I want a rigid deck for my board, but I don't know what to look for (how to know whether the boards I'm looking at are rigid).

    • @barnes_specialty
      @barnes_specialty  7 років тому

      21area21 Landyachtz Canton Arrow. Look at the number of plys. 9 plys are normally rigid.

    Hello! How does it works on hills? Do you think that it's enough with just one motor or it would be worth to put two? Thanks!

    • @barnes_specialty
      @barnes_specialty  7 років тому +1

      Works well with a big single motor. Just need a wider belt to handle it.

    What charger are you using to charge the lipos? do you charge individually?

    • @barnes_specialty
      @barnes_specialty  7 років тому

      Jerico Napalan I have a dual Turnigy Reaktor. Yes I am charging them individually. I have a BMS and charger I am going to use when I buy new batteries so I can charges at 12S.

    Question: If I increased used 4 3s batteries like you, would that increase my top speed?

    • @barnes_specialty
      @barnes_specialty  8 років тому +1

      Yes. Motor is rated in kV. kV means revolutions per volt. So a 192kV motor on 6S lipo (3.7V/cell) will spin 192x(3.7Vx6S) = 192x22.2V = 4262.4 motor rpm. More voltage = more rpm as long as the motor can handle it and the amperage draw goes down with higher voltage so it's a win win. 12S would be 192x(3.7Vx12S) = 192x44.4V = 8524.8 motor rpm. Double the rpm because of double the voltage.

    • @roboto321
      @roboto321 8 років тому

      Oh sweet, the calculation helped out a lot. Would this be taxing on the motor though? How would you compare this with a double motor. Obviously price is a drastic difference, but what about the life of the motor?

    • @barnes_specialty
      @barnes_specialty  8 років тому

      If the motor is rated to handle the voltage it is fine. I have a single motor and the only thing at times it lacks is traction. It can mostly be avoided by throttle and weight balance. Single drive will require wider belts 12-15mm and pulleys, but saves on everything else.

      The motor can handle 80A. You do not have to provide all of that. You can run it on less amperage. That is the same motor I have.

    Don't hit a rock at those speeds

    • @barnes_specialty
      @barnes_specialty  Рік тому

      With the big wheels it surprisingly pushes the rocks out of the way. It doesn’t really compare to traditional skateboard wheels where you come to a dead stop and go flying on the smallest pebble.
