  • In a world obsessed with full-frame cameras, I’m here to tell you why I’m doubling down on Micro Four Thirds (MFT) in 2025. With the Panasonic GH7, GH6, BGH1, and a dream lens kit featuring the Lumix 10-25mm f/1.7, 25-50mm f/1.7, Leica Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2, and Voigtländer Nokton lenses, MFT proves its worth. From incredible image quality, dynamic range and portability, MFT delivers everything I need for professional filmmaking and photography. Join me as I dive into why MFT stands strong against full-frame systems and what Panasonic should do to improve it. #microfourthirds #lumixgh6 #lumixGH7 #filmmaking #lumix #cameragear #cinematic

MFT is the best for video point blank

I was reminded yesterday of why I stick with the format, taking video with the 100-400 in a snowfall. Super stable, lens never fogged.

I've been shooting video on Panasonic MFT cameras since 2014. I've been using 3 GH5 II cameras for my business, I love that camera. Combined with the f/0.95 Voigtlander lenses, the Panasonic f/1.7 zooms, the wildlife and macro lenses along with wide angle options like the Laowa 6mm and 7.5mm, this system is all you need :)

Totally agree - the GH5 ii is an insanely capable camera, just ordered another.

How are you doing, mate? Have you been able to figure out the HDMI issue?

@@pragmaticfilmmaking Doing well, thanks! Hope you are too. I haven't figured out the HDMI issue and I probably never will. I'm now stuck to BRAW if I want to view anything externally 😅 To be fair, my GH6 has seen some rough environments since I bought it 2.5 years ago.. Very happy with my GH7 though!

I got the GH7 at launch. New to Lumix, I wanted to use the system for a bit before making a huge investment... I should have bought two! I now have 5 Pana-Leica lenses and most accessories for this beast of a cam. I'm curious to see what OM Systems has up their sleeve, as well.

Thanks for sharing such insightful reflections.
I was debating leaving Lumix going into 2025. But I find myself steeped in the MFT ecosystem, not only because it is budget friendly, but also that MFT cams are dependable for an array of video productions I often get hired to do and for my own passion projects.
I have a large inventory of Lumix MFT cams (with the exception of the S5ii) for livestreaming and multicamera productions-2 GH6, 3 GH5S, 2 GH5, 1 G85 (1 S5ii). The only serious feature missing is autofocus, for certain scenarios.
When the time is right, I’d like to get a pair of GH7 cameras as well and definitely some of the Lumix box cameras.

The GH7s are brilliant, mate. Autofocus is on point, and I don’t have to ND the hell out of the camera when shooting outdoors. I also got the XLR2, so I’m no longer stressed about interviews clipping. To be fair, I don't see any other mirrorless camera as an upgrade, and the BGH1 still has better low light, dynamic range, and rolling shutter performance.

Hey bro, some feedback. Firstly, amazing video and its very informative. Just pointing out a few things to improve on as I can tell you are a smaller channel. Audio level is pretty quiet. Camera is not level, you could try some background music or something, the intro graphic could be animated or applied in a better way. Overall though, the shot/setup looks really good. Keep up the good work

Please don't use background music. Pseudo-professional nonsense.

@@endah08 to be fair, that's something up to debate. But the rest i think is good advice. No background music is fine though

@@pragmaticfilmmaking Agreed for the audio leveling, YT reduced your loudness by 17dB. Other than that you are fine. Don't bother about intro animation and big no-no for background music. Subscribed! ✊

Although I also shoot full frame S5iix I gotta say my GH7 is a monster in various aspects and out performs my s5 in many ways. Other than dynamic and low light the GH7 wins in everything else. But as as far as the dynamic and low light, the s5 wins buy a little bit and it is not night and day difference. Nobody would ever tell which cam is which. Bokeh isn’t an issue for me cause I use sigma 18-35, sigma 50-100 both paired with metabones ultra shoot at 1.2 Olympus 45 1.2 Olympus. 75 1.8 all these lenses give me bokeh for days on MFT which is why I’m not leaving the system probably ever.

    • @pragmaticfilmmaking
      @pragmaticfilmmaking  10 днів тому

Exactly! I sold my 1.2 primes and the 75mm, but now I’m looking to get them back purely because of how good they are and how perfectly they’d pair with the GH7.
