An alert has been sounded after a dam of the Rishi Ganga Hydro Power Project burst in the Chamoli valley of Uttarakand near Joshimath Tapovan on Sunday morning. The burst would see a sudden surge of water in the Dhauli Ganga, which threatens to flood the waterstream till Haridwar.
