  • In this video "Feeding pigeons the economical way" I am showing a diferent method of feeding pigeons that is 50% less expensive. Racing pigeons need high quality food but it doesn't have to be flashy!

    Great & yeah I've been doing that as well just straight up whole corn & chicken pellets plus grit & whatever I can find that's cheap & affordable

      Have to look for other methods. I know it’s not as flashy but as long as they stay in good health I am all for it 👍

    Good advice. I'm currently doing research on pigeons for the future and this was very helpful. One thing I would do different is that instead of just, corn i would use a cheap wild bird mix along with the laying pellets to add some variety

    I am sure the feed will due just fine, hardest part is getting them to eating it not the nutritional value. I got a 50lb bag of deer corn from tractor supply for under $10 that I mix in occasionally on colder days for the birds. Haven’t tried pellets yet but have considered using them. Keep me updated on how well they do. Great video as always!

    Hi Mike, I feel your pain on the feed price increase. I have started mixing one part pigeon feed(peas, safflower, wheat etc.) one part cleaned scratch grains, one part shelled corn. With 5 pounds of peanuts mixed in . 50 pounds for the other parts. Game bird breeder pellets work good for breeding or molting birds.

    • @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
      @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons  2 роки тому

      I don’t plan on cutting the wings. I had mentioned putting an elastic around the four flights just for one day so they don’t fly off on their first release. Taping would be the same idea. Thank you for your comment

    Hello sir, I am writing from Romania. We found a pigeon , a young one, probably fell on the first flight. We took him home until he repaired his leg but he doesn't want to leave anymore; we take him outside and he sits on our shoulder or head. What do you advise us? He make dirt if we keep it in the house, we clean all day, but it has become attached to us and we love him. What would be better for him? How do we keep him out? Thanks and best wishes!

    • @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
      @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons  2 роки тому +1

      It sounds like the pigeon is very young. When he is ready he will start flying around the yard. Once he does that he will continue to go father and father away. But he will always return as your home has become his home. You can make a small loft or cage outside And once you keep him in it for 2 to 3 days he will return to it for his home and food. Good luck with him sounds like he is a nice pigeon
