    This is a spin-off of Titanic: Honor and Glory, which allows you to explore and incredibly realistic recreation of the Titanic. There's a LOT to see and there are some fun little Easter eggs too. The current build doesn't have any audio, so I've added a soundtrack and background sound myself (so you can blame me if you don't like the music! :)
    Also, I've tried to keep a medium speed throughout, but if the walkthrough is too fast or too slow for you then I'd recommend altering the playback speed (going as low as 0.65 doesn't take too bad a frame-rate hit)

      Also, the plank is not a “door” it’s actually a piece of the ornate carved panel over the entrance to the first class Lounge. You can get a glimpse of it in the video at 20:36

It would be so awesome to have any commentary. There is so much work put into creation of this model, that it is a big pity, that people would just open it and wander aimlessly aroun, without having the knowledge of what they are exactly looking at. Such a small detail in the beginning like the menu card on the table gives me chills, and can be so easily missed by a person who would not even know that this card may be as accurate as it can get. It's really incredible that so much detail has gone into Project 401. I wonder how some of the detail was collected vs. made-up, considering there are probably not enough photos of the actual Titanic to go on, and probably many of the details could only be ascertained by visiting the sunken ship on the ocean floor. Perhaps there are other sources too that were compiled together to recreate all of this as well. Titanic: Honor and Glory, which Project 401 is a standalone spin-off and demonstration of, will seek to present the history of the Titanic as a narrative, taking you from it construction to is destruction. As such, you'll get to experience it's sinking first-hand once the project is complete, and as part of a much earlier stage of development the devs created a demo of the C-Deck level of the Grand Staircase as it was flooding with water. It's a much rougher experience than Project 401, lacking some of the exquisite and highly accurate details of that demo and being incredibly limited in scale, but that hasn't stopped it from being the single most haunting experience I have ever had in a video game or any other interactive media.
    You can almost feel the crushing hopelessness as the icy water rises to meet you, and every heaving shudder of the ship or flicker of the lights plunging you into momentary darkness is like watching something die with you in it. A living coffin. As if your house was alive but suddenly came to find itself slowly falling in on you, like a rotting corpse in the midday sun. Something that should feels so safe and ironclad being betrayed by its very nature, betraying your trust in it in turn. Shelter made a tomb.

      White Star line never made the official claim. They marketed the ship as being luxurious and reliable not unsinkable. The person who made the unofficial claim was Philip Franklin (vice president of White Star headquarters in NY) when trying to assure loved ones and family members of passengers everything was fine before actual news of what happened got around (so after the disaster not before). This was the same time when newspapers trying to jump on the story before evidence stated that Titanic had still been afloat and making its way to NY with minor damage.

    • @the_real_Kurt_Yarish
      @the_real_Kurt_Yarish Рік тому +3

      Then you might be surprised to learn that the Titanic also had a padded room to house unstable patients, located not far from the Surgeon's quarters. Nearly across from the Surgeon's quarters is a door, leading to a short flight of stairs heading down a level. This leads into a short "c"-shaped section of hallway, and in the section nearest the stairwell is the padded room. It's only just big enough to house a single person, and with it's unpadded floor probably wouldn't be very comfortable to stay in for long. Lucky that it never had to be used...

    • @matthewmozingo3625
      @matthewmozingo3625 Рік тому +1

      Back in Titanic’s day, doctors aboard ship (British ships) were still referred to as surgeons. The “surgeon” on Titanic didn’t actually perform surgical operations, you would need a special hospital on land for that. He was more of a general practitioner who did check ups and prescribed basic medications.
