just done this on a Scirocco. or should say my mechanic did after i nearly rounded off the top bracket bolt by using a hex on it! TOP TIP you can get the lower bracket bolts off without moving the drive shaft. Thread your torx bit through a small (long) ring spanner!
Thanks for this video. I have a 2012 Turbo Beetle with same problem. After failing to remove the turbo bracket I was able to install the new bracket by just gently pushing the turbo apart where the clamp meets.
What do you mean? You failed to get the bracket off then pushed th turbo apart to get off the bracket? Or do you mean you were able to get the clamp in
Couldn’t get the bracket off. So just gently pried apart the two parts of the turbo that the clamp held together. That allowed me to drop out the broken clamp. Then I just pushed the new clamp in and tightened it up.
I had the same problem 3 weeks ago, i recent put a new dv on was driving around when suddenly it sounded like something blew off and the car was huffing and puffing, my local mechanic said the boost pipe came off but that doesn't make sense, and he says you need to replace the turbo which I disagree
So I have the same issue I changed the entire exhaust from Down pipe to muffler and still I have that noise like I have a exhaust leak with the lose clamp clinging. So what clamp did you get and how much will it cost me to replace this piece . I have a Mk5 Gti 2 door cbfa
I believe this happend to me I’m not sure. So after pulling out of a place I didn’t realize til a min or so my 2.0T was sounding like a diesel and I have no boost. The car is very rough I barely brought it home. Went underneath and the exact same clamp was off of mine. Do I have the same issue?
oh man my MK5 turbo v-band clamp just popped off too... when that popped off my flexible hose cracked also... what size diameter is the v-band clamp i suppose to get? and was it hard to replace.. can you post a website where you bought yours also.. thanks
the link for the part is in the description of the video. I am experienced with working on this car, and the job was not very difficult for me. It is pretty straight forward.
I know this is an old comment but have you had any issues since? I had a hole in my downpipe and I was about to replace it when I found the clamp was loose, hoping I didn't damage it by driving it more than I shouldve
Do you know the size of the triple square bit for the axle and the size of the actual bolts for the turbo bracing because for some reason my car dosnt have those two screws😂
06J-145-807 is the part number for the clamp. I found one on ebay. Cheers
literally how mine looks right now lolol
Thank you for posting this video . Because of you posting this now I know what the problem is with my car..

I think your turbo is probably fine. I’d need more info though to really understand the issue
How’s the car now?
cars running great, check out the new video!

Do you need to torque the bolt or you can just tighten it up normally?
Couldn’t find a video showing how to get to the clamp till now🙏

Yes. Exactly what happened to me.

How did you get it off ?
@@verzey3520 good fucking luck. I'm in the garage fighting that bolt as I type
@@verzey3520 it took a lot of tries and tons of penetrating oil but I got it
Do you need to pull the turbo out to replace the clamp? Or can you just do it by dropping the axle and removing the turbo bracket?
You don’t need to drop the turbo. I was able to do it with doing just what you said. Was not difficult
When you clamp cracked the car make a noise? I have the same clamp brake and the car make a noise like air, thanks!
yes, it sounded like a diesel

hi there... i have a whistle sound on my golf mk5 gti near the turbo....
I would need more details to try and help.
Do you have any mods?
Do you really need to drop the axle to get that bracket off?
no
Do you know the size of the triple square bit for the axle and the size of the actual bolts for the turbo bracing because for some reason my car dosnt have those two screws😂
I’m not sure off the top of my head, but I bet you could find them on ECS or other sites. Just search Mk6 gti axel bolts etc
That just happened to me last week and I found the problem one shot
nice man. i checked everything I could think of at the time, and the turbo splitting in half just wasn't something i considered.
If you hear that sound like open exhaust why would you check anything else other then manifold and turbo
