Sorry y’all for the sound quality in the studio. My mic apparently wasn’t working, and we were in a rush to get this out. We appreciate you all watching!
No water shortage where you guys are apparently. 😂 Next time run the water a few minutes before you begin to soap the boots and a few minutes after you’re done, just for good measure. I type this as I look at the reservoir down below my house dry out as we hope for heavy snow this year.
This is so stunning. I'm 75 already but I still remember my father's shiny polished shoes. He was 6' 2" in the old jargon and always with a shoulders back, straight back posture. And a good looking man to boot!!
Hey! I really appreciate the effort you're putting into marketing lately! I first watched Fireball's video on the boots he made and have watched a couple more were you guys were featured. You definitely won me over! I'll be picking up a pair in a year or so when my current set are worn through!
Rose anvil comments so you’ll find his channel where he destroys perfectly new good boots. Meanwhile, T&H take tired old boots that could arguably justifiably be thrown away and gives them a second life.
I think that was a fantastic job of craftsmanship. To take a pair of boots that a man has trusted his life to, been a part of many experiences no doubt, and turn them into a fantastic looking everyday boot is just priceless. The uncompromising construction of Nick's boots, the undoubtedly amazing fit after all the wear, and the superb look that you guys gifted them with...I'm stunned into redundancy. Those are fantastic. Priceless. Well done.
If I hadn’t watched it myself, I wouldn’t have believed that a pair of rugged boots can be transformed to a pair of dress boots! And the brouging! Stunned! Amazing job, Gents!
First time watching your channel; I grew up in Phoenix arizona, in our neighbor there was a man who was a cobbler, my father on occasion would take his shoes or boots to be repaired but I never watched him at work, I was always amazed at how he could take what I thought was old shoes and breath life back into them. Watching you guys showed me the skill and talent that it takes to build a quality product.
You guys have become the " We are going to show you what we can do" channel and it is great. Transforming shoes from ebay and Target and my favorite with Heath making his own golf shoes and now this. Love what you guys do and present to us. I can't wait to see what is next.
Y'all truly amazing. In this era of "just good enough" and planned obsolescence, I just smile ear to ear at your incredible vision and craftsmanship. May this return to America, I pray.
Don’t know why I find your work so interesting, but I love your channel. I have mad respect for any traditional crafts that preserve the history of authentic hand made work. The tools in your shop look vintage from another era. You guys always pull off an amazing finished product!
I absolutely love these videos where you take tired old shoes and reimagine them in new ways! A true showcase of your skill and knowledge. They make me look sideways at my collection and wonder how my own shoe collection could be individualised! Thanks to your channel amongst others, I have been investing heavily in high quality footwear over the last couple years, predominantly Crockett and Jones bought used on eBay. Thank you again for your fantastic work and videos, I am always excited when I see a new video pop up! Cheers gents, Alexander.
The skill and knowledge is there but why in hell anyone would spend this much to get a dress boot of out these I do not get. Just buy a nice pair and have your boots for hiking and dirty play. I don't get it unless you carried your buddy thru a bloody war and it's a sentimental thing you have to have these boots go be dress boots. Insanity. More money than I have and I am not jealous, just if I was a billionaire I would do the same.
Man you guys are amazing. I’m Jamaican and Canadian and I can tell you man.. You guys are testament why Jamaicans love America. Your work, Tenacity and just a respect for quality, Imagination and hard work. Bless you guys.. love ya’ll
No clue how I ended up here nor why it was recommended but I decided to stay and watch. This was far more legit than I could've imagined. You've earned my subscription gentlemen.
Amazing! I think you guys can take a dumpster and turn it into fine furniture. Also, you’re both very articulate. You didn’t stutter, stammer, snort, hesitate, cough, grunt, or say “um” a hundred times. Well done.
This was hilarious! Living in the PNW you always see Nicks boots covered in ash, dirt, oil. To see them shiny and totally brogued out? Awesome. I can’t stop grinning. I kept chuckling throughout the video. This should become a cult classic! Thanks guys!
As soon as you started down the road with “you may be wondering”, my brain was right there in “old school” mode. Well done sir. Those boots are just an amazing piece. The artistry and craftsmanship gone into the transformation has to be seen to be believed.
A heat gun also does a great job of melting wax into the pores of the leather (I like to think it's more gentle, even though it's probably not). Great video, super impressive! You guys are masters of your craft!
This is a great video my uncle had a shoe repair place in Gary Indiana and my cousin is a actual shoe maker in Greece where we are from on the Island of Karpathos there is a shoe specific to the island and you still go and have them made for you and they fit you up and wear them most of your life you just keep repairing that reminds me of how we do it there ,you are true artists .a dying art here in thee states where we throw everything away ,and most from China .
You know it is going to be a good video when it starts with washing the boots in the sink followed by "unscrewing" the old sole. Just about spit my coffee when I saw the shaft of the boot being assaulted by a razor knife. The care, attention and craftsmanship that went into this amazing transformation was a testament to the fine work that your subscribers have come to expect from a pair of southern gentlemen. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing guys.simply amazing.Good Ole craftsmanship brought back to our instant gratification seeking society.I had my fav pair of shoes I've ever had in my life they wore out 20 yrs ago.i never could find a good shoe repair place to take them.they were leather with wooden souls and different colored leather flowers 💐 on them.natural leather colors though.i crushed ankle 6 years ago and got sad when I finally threw them away. YOU HAVE ME MISSING them.My daughter is now older I could've gotten them redone for her.
You truly outdid yourselves on this one, guys! Just when we think we’ve seen all of your talents, you step up your game. Thanks for always “bringing it!”
I took an appreciation for leather after receiving my dearly departed cousins satchel/briefcase. I’ve watched a ton of leather restoration videos and is how I found your channel. I love your content and the interaction you have with [and I’m guessing here] your brother and I’ve already watched about 20 episodes. One thing I would like to see is, bigger, better and longer money shots (sounds like a commercial for Extends😜). Of course the before and afters are what we look forward to, kinda like dessert following a good meal but you guys only give us a tease of your handy work. Maybe that’s by design but I sure would like to see more of the finished product. Keep up the awesome work fellas!!
I don't know how the algorithm brought me here, but I'm hooked! We had a cobbler in our town that made boots to fit your feet, but he's long since retired. I love this channel. I'm sharing!!
I loved Heath's "we just had to burn the sh.....heck out of these things". To maintain your composure and not chuckle at that almost slip of the tongue was impressive ;-)
I know nothing about shoes, but I've watched your videos for almost a year. I was watching another guy's shoe repair video and he wasn't half as thorough as you guys are. I thought to myself, "this is just painful." And that's how I ended up on this video.
wonderful! you steps remind me of a boot restoration i undertook myself 7 years ago with french service boots from 1939. i did everything but the resoling myself, which was done by a local cobbler in frankfurt am main. restoring / reviving / transforming footwear is one of the most satisfying things i’ve done and it’s the reason i prefer vintage shoes and boots over current products.
Amazing work, as always, love that he now gets a wonderful dress boot that has an awesome history to go with it. I appreciate your work ethic and always look forward to your videos!
One of these days y’all need to show us how those nails “crimp” over when nailing them through on the metal plate maybe when you have some scrap leather to waste… I find it fascinating watching these videos
I believe the term "clinch" might make it a little easier to envision. As the point of the nail impacts the metal plate, it makes a "U-turn" and drives back into the leather ("clinching" itself to the leather).
I've been a bootblack in leather bar/motorcycle scene for many years and my absolute favorites to work on have always been " I was going to throw these away..." Such an amazing transformation to see! Shoe love is true love!
Your knowledge, expertise, craftmanship and technical skills are mind blowing. To watch you guys perform magic on shoes is absolutely beautiful to see. I have huge respect for both of you . Thank you both for a really worthwhile show.
Awesome job, I would love to have a daily use boot that was built that well and was comfortable durable that I could wear without fear of them tearing up for 20 years not for work but a little work wouldn’t scare me because I knew how well they were made! You guys are awesome, love to watch the magic you work on boots! I think most of your reworks look better than the boots did originally. This project was a great example. God bless and continued success!
What a awesome transformation from rugged boot to dress shoe. As soon as the lighter came out though it all came back to me. I was cranking out mirror finishes in the barracks for dress inspections all throughout A and C school. Easy money, boys.
I cannot believe that I have, not one, but two cobbler bloggers/vloggers/internet film makers, on my subscribed list !! I just find that watching people using dying trades, absolutely fascinating. Thank you so much for sharing your trade with us.
Say it with me, "a RAPID Blake stitch construction!" :) Hey, whilst I have all the experts here, is Rapid Blake superior to Goodyear? It seems to be the most robust (having a whole midsole as a welt).
Most blake rapids use the midsole as the welt, where we added a separate welt attached to the upper. The insole stitching was not required where it is on BR. Just as Nicks insole stitches, but also outsole stitches. Theirs is a stitchdown and not a BR. This was a hybrid between all three construction methods.
Y'all are unbelievable! I'm pretty much obsessed. I have four sons, 16-23 and they are just starting careers and/or interviewing or just plain old growing out of dress shoes at an alarming rate. My oldest asked me about polishing a pair for a final interview that were in bad shape. They've been in his closet since he wore them to prom almost 5 years ago. Caught him on snap chat with his younger brother whose a Marine getting tips on polishing them. In my world Mama's supposed to have all the answers so your clips are giving me a hand up! Thank you for that. Maybe next time you can teach me how to tie a tie. 🤣😂🤣 Y'all are great!
Instead of using a lighter to melt the wax into the leather, I have used a hair dryer on the hottest setting to melt wax into my purse handle that needed a gloss as well as a stiffer handle to hold it's shape. And it worked flawlessly
Well done, guys. Beautiful transformation of a workhorse to a rugged dress shoe. Heath, nothing wrong with doing some things 'old school'. You do what the situation calls for. Nick's makes a great product, but this is certainly next level. Always enjoy you all. Happy New Year!
I have watched all of y'all's videos, some more than once. This one is by far my favorite and one I come back to watch time and again. It is one of the best explained and documented IMHO of all your videos. I think if a logger was looking for a pair of wedding shoes these answer the bill. I do hope something becomes of your collaboration with Nick's. Signed up for info on that one right away! Of all the cobblers out there on you tube making videos y'all blow the rest away. And Nick's are the best for custom shoe manufacturing videos.
...Simultaneously... A aspect of the modern world that not many of us have ever seen, or even thought about how real shoes are made, and how wonderful to watch with perspective closer than if we were standing right there (in the way.
I have no idea why this was suggested to me, but it's awesome to see someone showing the love for their craft. You certainly have a new subscriber. Thank you for the awesome and interesting content and for spreading your love for your craft.
When I grew up in the 1960s our local shoe repair shop would do a great job of replacing heels and soles on leather shoes. The shop would make worn shoes look new along with a nice polish and buff of the leather. I can remember the noise of the machinery and the smell of the leather and glue. I used to love the clickity clack of the metal heel protectors, the nuns at our school didn’t appreciate the noise we made when walking down the halls.
Are we going to see a Wranglerstar episode soon “Westcoast professional homeowner reviews Eastcoast professional cobbler boot transformation”? Ha ha Great job guys.
But, for Cody... it would NEED to be "Proper" to be given the Wranglerstar endorsement. (Not that T&H work isn't "Proper"... just a REQUIREMENT for Cody). LOL
now lets see them turn dress boots into actual fire fighting boots ( not just the appearance but actual fully NFPA 1999, ASTM F 2413, CAN/CSA-Z195) compliant and certified )it would be interesting to see how much of the original boot remained.
hmmm.... always been into mechanics and mechanical repairs, but this is pretty interresting... so Thanks for taking the time to make the video and share it
Amazing transformation from fire boots to what I would call “chipper “style dress boots.Never watched a cobblers video thought it was a trade gone by,nice equipment y’all have love watching restorations of good old stuff so it caught my eye.always liked a good pair of boots, wore Red Wings and Chippewas for years. I worked for the R.R. Doing track repair and the motto was don’t cheat your feet but there were plenty of guys that wore the $29.99 Walmart made in China boots with the soles flappin. I’ll definitely try to catch more of your videos unfortunately I don’t know any guys that appreciate a good pair of boots anymore to share it.
I love seeing what y'all can do with footwear. It amazes me. Thanks for bringing these videos to us. I was shocked to see what appeared to be drywall screws in these boots!
My youngest son leads a hand crew for Calfire in Northern Calif. After hundreds of miles hiking into fires and clearing fire lines for days or even weeks at a time, his boots look even worse than these. He has them resoled as needed, but they are pretty tired. Good video.
Awesome job! Works of art. I am patiently awaiting my Nicks/Rose Anvil ND1 boots in Oct. I love Nick's, your channel and Rose Anvils channel also. My great grandfather, a Holocaust survivor was a cobbler, I'm getting into leather work as a homage to him.
The polishing of the boots brings back so many memories from when I would make a little extra money from polishing black boots while in the Marine Corps before we switched from black to tan roughed out boots. It was more about satisfaction than the extra money for me. Taking a dual pair of boots and taking it to a high spit shine .
They look GREAT!!! 👍 Melting in the wax with a lighter brought back memories. In Basic, one of the guys set the fire alarm off in the barracks melting polish. That was...memorable. It was at that moment I realized...the Army will take ANYONE!!! 😅
I realize this is a late comment, but I really enjoyed watching the work you did on these fire boots. I was impressed by the transition from a working boot to a dress boot, but speaking as a retired firefighter myself I would have asked for the Brogue holes to be in the pattern of a traditional firefighter's Maltese Cross! I have no particular interest or skill in shoe repair, but I certainly do enjoy (and can learn a lot from) watching good work very well done. Cheers!
I love how these look the shine on it is wonderful. It doesnt need the high mirror shine on it. Not a cobbler but only a suggestion try using the heat gun on the wax next time over the lighter.
For a high shine you can set your wax polish itself on fire 🔥 then apply the melted liquid (put it out first) onto the leather. It spreads more thinly and evenly and will give you a very glossy shine.
Sounds like the old soldiers trick to get a mirror shine on toe caps. Apply loads of polish and then wipe a heated knife side. Frowned on by instructors!
I have no idea why these videos mesmerize me. I have no interest in boots. But here I am sitting in the rainy Uk watching the 4th video.... 🤓 Loving it
Wow! What a difference ! One tough boot! Think I will stick to my Dalton boots. I will buy these for my garden work or when I’m working on the tractor. Nicks boots are tough as heck!
Sorry y’all for the sound quality in the studio. My mic apparently wasn’t working, and we were in a rush to get this out. We appreciate you all watching!

Phew! Good to know you’re not a robot, and that it was just a minor technical fault. 🤣🤣🤣
I found a heat gun worked pretty well as I never had a lighter. Ha ha
ah i did wonder as it sounded like someone was talking into a bucket!!
Hair dryer set to high works wonders and you don't have to worry about an open flame.
This is so stunning. I'm 75 already but I still remember my father's shiny polished shoes. He was 6' 2" in the old jargon and always with a shoulders back, straight back posture. And a good looking man to boot!!
I'm happy to know that there are still a few people out there with this type of skill! We need more, no more throw away boots!
I remember my dissapointment when I realised that a line of stitches on my shoes where fake.
Yes sounds good in theory but before the mass production of shoes, a lot of people were in sandals or barefoot. They cost too much.
Thanks for absolutely transforming these!! Truly amazing. We're looking forward to that collaboration 👊
I can't wait to see the end result of this collaboration. The Rose Anvil boots were awesome. This collaboration will be worth the wait!
Thanks guys! This was a fun one. Looking forward to it! 👍
Oh my. Will be emailing Nick's to begin pestering them about that immediately.

Most comfortable boots I’ve worn are nicks. Best fire boots out there! Definitely worth every penny!
You know you're good when you have a 79 year old from South Africa loving your videos. Beautiful work.
That was so cool!
Thanks man! 👍
Anxiously awaiting my RA x Nicks boots! Beasts!
Next we need a rose anvil x trenton & heath collab 🔥

Y'all give new - and perhaps clearer - meaning to the term: "Cobble Something Together"
😁👍
Thank you!
It was a sacrilegious experience watching this video… my Nick’s Builder Pros will stay true to character!😉
😉
...Simultaneously... A aspect of the modern world that not many of us have ever seen, or even thought about how real shoes are made, and how wonderful to watch with perspective closer than if we were standing right there (in the way.
Wow that was amazing - must have been a pricey job, the amount of time spent. Worth it though - incredible transformation.
Thank you!
I have no idea why this was suggested to me, but it's awesome to see someone showing the love for their craft. You certainly have a new subscriber. Thank you for the awesome and interesting content and for spreading your love for your craft.
"Our MOST extreme makeover YET"
And the award for Understatement of 2021 goes to Trenton and Heath...
Ha ha
Great job guys.
LOL! I kept thinking those have to be Wranglerstars boots. That would be a fun collaboration wouldn’t it. Especially as he is a Nicks boots fan.
But, for Cody... it would NEED to be "Proper" to be given the Wranglerstar endorsement. (Not that T&H work isn't "Proper"... just a REQUIREMENT for Cody). LOL
You guys really gave a new life of these worn pair boots. Your work is perfect in craftsmanship. Well done!!
now lets see them turn dress boots into actual fire fighting boots ( not just the appearance but actual fully NFPA 1999, ASTM F 2413, CAN/CSA-Z195) compliant and certified )it would be interesting to see how much of the original boot remained.
hmmm.... always been into mechanics and mechanical repairs, but this is pretty interresting...
so Thanks for taking the time to make the video and share it
Just flawlessly amazing workmanship …. You people are the right example in terms of whatever you do.. give your best
I love seeing shoes get redone -so satisfying ! Thank you
Awesome to see that you keep this profession alive!
Wow!! Now thats a Restification! They came out Beautiful..
The craftsmanship, attention to detail and patience is great!
I got 9 years left…good idea for my retirement present to myself with my fire boots. Great conversion on a great boot!
Ive spit polished a lot of boots in my military years. Good to see it on something stylish with your work :)
Love the Y'ALL T-shirt. You guys are genuine craftsmen. Wishing I lived closer and I'd have you repair my boots. Thanks for the videos. 🤎🤎
Melting in the wax with a lighter brought back memories. In Basic, one of the guys set the fire alarm off in the barracks melting polish. That was...memorable. It was at that moment I realized...the Army will take ANYONE!!! 😅
😂
Thank you all so much for your service!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I took a nap after watching this, and I dreamed I was fixing those boots, awesome relaxation, keep up the good work
I realize this is a late comment, but I really enjoyed watching the work you did on these fire boots. Cheers!
All I can say is…wow! What a transformation 😮
More dress boots conversions. So fascinating and beautiful. Well done boys 😎
Krásné řemeslo a perfektní práce kluci. Pokračujte jste v tom dobrý 👍
You really went all out on this boot. I enjoyed this video very much. Best Wishes to You and future projects!!!
I have no idea why these videos mesmerize me. I have no interest in boots. But here I am sitting in the rainy Uk watching the 4th video.... 🤓 Loving it
Amazing! The one and only brogues boots. Love the brouging patterns too!
Terrific video! My dad was in the Air Force and he used to spray Pledge furniture polish on his shoes to get that mirror shine.
Almost a lost artform. You guys are masterful. I am watching your vids while I work. It is so soothing!
The military style brought back memories. Outstanding work guys 🪖
Wow! What a difference ! One tough boot! Think I will stick to my Dalton boots. I will buy these for my garden work or when I’m working on the tractor. Nicks boots are tough as heck!
