In this case, they probably zoomed in on a working copy of the raw developed film while editing the master version which accounts for the slight blurriness and reduced detail in high definition. To fix it, somebody would have to dig up the original negatives used to film those scenes. But chances are those negatives and/or working copies don't exist anymore.

    Richard Brooks (Paul Robinette) deserves more praise than he gets for his performances. Its interesting to watch early episodes where he is hushed when it comes to race, and think about how that likely developed the character into the defense attorney we see in much later episodes.

      Robinette coming back as a defense attorney obsessed with racial issues doesn't match his character from the early seasons when he stood for justice in any situation. It's lazy, sensationalism from the writers.

    • @Treblaine
      @Treblaine 4 роки тому +25

      @@jacobsaccount9353 When they filmed it in the noisy restaurant the sound recordings on the set were useless as microphones can't single out voices like human ears can. So they had to call back the actors to a sound booth to speak their lines again and try to sync up their voices with the footage filmed then also add back the background noises at a lower level.
      This is called ADR (Auto Dialogue Replacement) and it's why some dialogue sounds strangely off. You can't put your finger on it, your mind is really good at recognising "hey, that doesn't sound right" but you don't necessarily logically know why.
      It's far easier to book a restaurant and fill it with extras who are all trained to "act normal" but be ABSOLUTELY SILENT. It's spooky to see, you'll have a whole restaurant full of extras who look like they're talking, eating and laughing but none of them make a sound. Because no one wants the director to yell cut because something your fake conversation said momentarily drowned out the main actor's dialogue.
      In the final editing process the editor carefully adds just a tiny bit of background noise of people chattering and laughing at a level where it never detracts from the performance of the named actors unless the director specifically wants certain sounds to be heard in the background.

    I loved law & order! My husband an I would watch the first 15 minutes an then guess at date, story the episode is telling! It was a lot of fun, cause there was a lot of material to cover. The one about the highly publicized ice figure skaters and the cheerleader's mom was more sickening in a different manner of speaking! In other words, people let anger along with thinking too much, cloud the very morals of they're life!!! 👿😠🙏❤️
