AMD is an American company. Good number of folks who worked on Ryzen are based in Austin TX actually. Intel's CPUs are designed in Israel.

That is exactly how you should NOT open a box with a knife.
Always keep the knife facing away from you or else you are likely to slash or stab yourself...
If you are prone to being dangerous with knives, grab a set of car keys and it will easily open the box without the risk of harming yourself.

Best Ryzen unboxing video I've seen. I love how you captured yourself waiting in excitement for the package.. just like we all do. A lot of unboxing videos is just a guy blandly explaining everything in a box. You were purely excited..and even showed putting the PC together. This video has made me more excited about Ryzen than any others.
Sadly...I'll probably have to wait a few more months for the Ryzen 5. $250 is probably the MAX of my budget for a CPU at this point, and would love to have a 6-core, 12 thread CPU.

As a music producer I have been benefiting from 8 cores since win 10 with the FX series support so Im extremely excited to get even better support, twice as many cores, lower tdp, higher ipc, higher clock speeds etc... for less money and less heat. I havent been as excited to build a PC as much as I am now.

I am a computer engineer and always do 2d and 3d renders of all hardware before finalizing my BOM. Right now an I7-4770 is not enough for me I will be moving onto the 1800x and 32gb of ram which should make for a very affordable and powerful workstation build.

To answer the question you asked, on February 22nd I ordered parts to update my four hardware/firmware/software development systems. I design hardware (electronics) with also requires firmware sometimes (FPGA, microcode, whatever), plus software. No content creation yet, but that may be in the future.
My order:
- 4 * Ryzen 7 1800X
- 4 * ASUS Crosshair VI Hero
- 4 * Corsair H115i AIO cooler
- 16 * GSKILL TridentZ 4266MHz DDR4 SDRAM
Already received the DDR4 and coolers (hope they fit in my Arc-Midi R2 cases).
Nice job joker really like your video . i used to watch these kind of videos from linus but then he became more commercial guy then from jay ... Paul..etc but dude you still got that real PC hardware flame burning on pls don't let it get distinguished in the future and keep up the good work

Honestly the 1700 is the most interesting for me. It's the cheapest of the bunch but still packs a whallop, it should be extremely popular for "budget" streamers and performance enthusiasts.

Call me a nerd but I did the math since you showed such an amazing closeup of the pins.
39*39=1521
1521-13=1508 (corners)
1508-8=1500 (4 dots)
1500-(13*13)=1331 (center square)
AM4 socket CPU has 1,331 pins.
AM3+ had 938 pins, and the AM2 had 940.
Haven't been so excited about a processor since Amd's K6 400.

It's a toss up between the 1700x and the 1800x for me. Hopefully the thermals for the chip(s) are really good.

I'm doing a 1700x to upgrade from 4790. Because with a 1080 it lags bad.
my 3570k is bottlenecking my 1070 as well ... Hope it's been worth the wait...

I'm getting Ryzen for livestreaming. Right now my friend's the only one who can actually stream, and I'm stuck with sub-60 FPS on the lowest possible graphics settings in most games we try to play. I'll probably buy either the Ryzen 5 1500 or 1400X, not sure which.
I'm certainly looking at picking up the 1700 chip for gaming but mainly for freelance Adobe Work/Photoshop/Illustrator/After Affects.

This is out of the ordinary probably but could you benchmark Black Desert Online in a populated area with a GTX 1080? The best places to go in game are the fishing areas in Velia or Heidel. This game could definitely use a more powerful CPU with the extra threads. MMORPGs almost never seem to be benchmarked when we look at CPUs and they are possibly the most CPU bound genre available.

I'm picking it up for gaming, I already preordered my 1700x, lol but I don't have any more money left to buy the ddr4 ram or x370 motherboard, so I'll have to wait a while before completing my build. the fx 8350 is just not adequate for running an r9 fury, it served me well for over a year but I am losing over 20 fps on average in certain games. I am excited for my ryzen build.
So good to see that AMD has ryzen to the occasion.

The ASUS Crosshair VI review I saw shows that the MOBO has 2 sets of holes so if you have the AM3+ back plate the Corsair AIOs will be compatible with original bracket

So, yeah. I've been wanting to build a PC for the past few years. I like the way Ryzen looks because (so far) it looks to be stomping Intel in terms of price/performance. I'll know for certain on the 2nd, though. My subscription list will be jam-packed that day. I'd love to build asap, and right now it looks to be either 1700 or 1700X without waiting an undisclosed amount of time for Ryzen 5 or 3. Looking to be doing some low-intensity gaming, recording, and video rendering. Maybe some streaming down the line...
Either that or Intel will considerably drop prices to stay competitive before I pull the trigger, and I can have a few more options.

If I didn't know any better I'd say it sounds a lot like you've got Modern Day Babylon for your soundtrack around 13 minutes in. If so, good choice, if not, check them out.
