Hello this is the second time asking you but can you please do a review on the new msi ge68hx? it's ok if you can't but if possible tell me and thanks!
@@Ggz_X We covered it here: ua-cam.com/video/iIwm_WVfCyk/v-deo.html
Hola, por favor, puedes hacer mas pistas de audio en español? Me parece de gran utilidad.
Me gustaron mucho tus videos. Un abrazo desde chile. ❤
@@JarrodsTechhow's the bloatware? Or well, manufacturer malware really
Love how within 15 seconds of the video you've already summed up the XPS well.
Also a 40W GPU (30W maximum TDP effectively) with a 2000P screen, really Dell?
💸💸
well to be fair... every laptop that isn't designed for gaming is gonna have a overkill display for the GPU. Some people still to this day don't understand basic computer hardware and will spend ridiculous amounts of money on a laptop simply because it has a nice looking screen and sturdy metal design. It is the reason Macs exist, its the reason Dell XPS line exists. Stupid people that have money.
@@TheUchihasparky That is a silly statement as Macs also walk the walk, whereas the XPS tasks the talk but falls flat on its face. When Apple has changed PCs with innovation, people always spurt their anti-Apple rhetoric. The Apple Silicon chips were the first revolution in PCs since forever so your comment is hard to make sense of; more hate than making any sense.
@@TheUchihasparkyThat GPU TDP though is a joke in my eyes and whilst you mightn't game with it, it's a stupid amount of money to drop on a laptop for web browsing etc.
Stuff like the Asus ROG Zephryus G14 would put this XPS to shame in regards to performance.
THE GPU is a joke but this has been the same story for previous models. The XPS 15 with 4070 is marketed at 50 watts but clocks all the way back to 35-40 watts when actually gaming.
The 2024 XPS lineup is what happens when a company copies what Apple does 3 years late.
and does so badly, to be fair to Apple (which I really didn't want to)
2024 XPS lineup is basically 2019 macbooks, without the Apple Design™️.
@@rj7250a And with Microshaft Winblows.
I actually like the design and feel of the XPS. But Windows + Intel is 🤮
Linux > MacOS >>>>>>>>> Windows
Bruv. DELL has been far behind competition since 2016, 2017 I believe. Both XPS and Alienware lineup.
Even when gaming laptops get so good in 2021, DELL was still incredibly TERRIBLE.
0:44 ayo bro chill 😂😂😂
Funniest comment 😂
may be he was unhinged!
It's amazing that Dell could design a laptop with an inferior keyboard to save space while still being much slower, heavier, thicker, and more expensive than G14!
I bought the legion slim 5 14” after your glowing review . Waiting for it to arrive!! On sale for 1k at bb
The one with the Oled display? Congrats man!
@@jeffjularbal9404 yes
@@jeffjularbal9404 thank you!
If I were in charge of naming that one, I would’ve named it the “Slim 4”
The thermal imaging actually shows the boundary of the trackpad, which I did not expect.
Need a review on Legion 5i and 7i 2024!!!
Hi Jarrod! Awesome and comprehensive as always!
Will you be covering the new Legion 7i Gen 9 soon? Very interested to know how it stacks up with a HX CPU in such a thin design. Cheers!
The value on this just isn't there and the design decisions (similar to ones that Apple realized were bad ideas years ago) are off putting. Buy an ASUS Zenbook or g14 if you want a 14 inch Windows laptop.
Or the excellent HP Spectre 14 2024. Apart from the lack of a dGPU option (although the XPS 14 is stuck with a near minimum wattage RTX 4050, so not great anyway) and the lack of a 64 GB of RAM option (personally, for these types of laptops for general users, 32 GB of RAM is fine), the HP Spectre beats the Dell XPS 13 and 14 hands down. And it's cheaper too! I've seen it with 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage for $1,900. That's really great given it also has the 120 hz OLED touch screen on _all_ models. Literally do not buy the XPS lineup this year.
I'd go for the Zephyrus G14 with the Ryzen 9 processor. You get the best of both worlds if you want great battery life while also having good performance for gaming.
@moonlightcayenne8722 I'm talking about for people who don't need a dGPU or who need a 2 in 1 for art. Those people will be just fine with a Spectre.
Asus sucks, though.
Please don’t forget to specify the 2023 G14, not the 2024 G14.
am I missing something or is there literally no reason they couldn't put a wifi 7 card in there?
max profit, cut every corner you can get away with. Then the corners that'd be deal breaker for some people, you turn into upsell items (pay extra $ for GPU which sucks anyway, pay extra $ for 120hz OLED that you can't fully utilize, etc).
They could put it in, but with 99% of the world not even using Wi-Fi 6e, I suspect Dell thought that this year didn't matter. Especially as this is an ultrabook and wifi 6e is probably overkill.
@@andyH_England
yeah, "this year" it doesn't matter
but the card is soldered
They did the same thing in 2023 with the XPS 17. The 13 & 15 had Wi-Fi 6E but the 17 was stuck with Wi-Fi 6 and it was soldered. 🤦♂️
Just bought the MSI thin 15 with intel core i5 and RTX 4050 so far is amazing
I dont get it, why after compromising function key the gpu still stuck at 30 watt ?
The new 2024 XPS 14/16 is such a letdown! The weak capacity touch keys, loud fans, short battery life, and overheating issues made me return mine after three weeks of use! I do recommend them at all. For the $2k+ price tag, they really messed up.
Hey, i would really appreciate if you can help me, i am new to PCs and laptops and i am getting a gaming laptop as i stay away from home for prolonged amounts of time
Between the lenovo loq and Dell G15, the 4060 models, which would you say is better ? Also i know you said in a few videos you wouldn’t recommend TUF F15 but that was due to the price, so if it is a bit cheaper than the two mentioned above, would you pick it over them ? These are the only laptops where i live with a 4060 in my price range
Hey Jarrod! When is your Lenovo Legion 7i 2024 review coming ?
Hard to believe i got my first gaming laptop back in 2017. The Dell 15 inch, i forgot what the model was called, but it was the same one Ned had in Spider-Man homecoming. Good times 😢
I only want to have an overview; would you recommend MSI to buy?
The XPS 15 is still available on Dell's website and it's going to give you a way better experience than the 14 or the 16. You can get up to an i9 with a 4070, 64GB of Memory, and 8TB of storage for less than getting a Dell XPS 14 with only 4TB of storage, a 4050, and a Core Ultra 7. 3449 for the XPS 15, and 3789 for the XPS 14.
3500+ is absolutely outrageous wtf
But the build quality on the 15 is trash and they never updated the motherboard. Old motherboard with 13th gen CPU is a heat disaster waiting to happen.
The Dell XPS 17 doesn't have the motherboard nor build quality issues like the XPS 15. Only issues with Dell XPS 17 are the lack of portability and 720 web cameras. The web camera isn't too big of an issue if you never show your face on a Teams or Zoom meeting call.
@@yianovich 64GB of RAM and 8TB of storage, that's why.
@@akin242002The XPS 17 also never got Wi-Fi 6E and it's soldered.
Will there be omen 2024 amd and tuf a15 this years and when will it releas.
I have an old XPS from 2018 that still runs; the battery goes in and out so it remains plugged in. My Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop died after 3 1/2 years of use.
Why is it that Dell keeps the GPU power draw with all XPS models very limited
Impressive review!
Somehow something wrong happened with the XPS Lineup over the years, I remember that few years back the only thing missing with XPS was better thermals. Now I think that the 2024 Zephyrus are the more correct progression of the XPS lineup instead of this. Great display, better thermals, better efficient components. Imho
Thank you so much for including linux support!!! Not sure if you included them before too but I really appreciate it! (p.s. if you can go into a bit more detail that would be even better. perhaps a linux distro installed on a separate external ssd/hdd that u can boot into?)
Ubuntu 24.04 is out, but I'd only expect the Wi-Fi to be fixed out of the box; the speakers on some 2023 laptops from Razer, Asus, and Dell have still been reported not to be working and the camera on recent Dell XPS laptops require firmware blobs afaik.
@@cameronbosch1213 thats just normal new hardware issues with linux. Give it a year and everything should work. I had speaker issues and subscribed to a mailing list through bugzilla and was constantly updated on the progress the community is making. Not too long later people already had patches available for you to patch your own kernel with. A year later (or less I'm not sure), the patches were then released on the latest kernel version.
Now the only issues are nvidia related. Never buying an Nvidia gpu again (unless these are fixed). Fk nvidia.
Update: The Linux kernel version 6.10 will fix the Cirrus speakers not working on Linux (Cirrus is the brand many laptops from 2023 & 2024 used) but you might have to wait until Ubuntu 24.10 to get that kernel version, which doesn't release until October. Or you could use a different distro.
Hey there Jarrod. I love your content and your dedication to being honest and truthful in your reviews. I always use your videos as a reference point in this clouded laptop scene that doesn't always talk about whats what.
A very interesting laptop caught my eye recently. Colorful, a gpu manufacturer, released a laptop; the Evol p-15.
Here in the Asian market, everything is overpriced and what you can get for cheap is just pretty bad, which forced me to not buy a gaming laptop and settle for an m1 air recently, as I didn't want to compromise on screen colour gamut and overall quality, something that is important to me.
Though this laptop, not only performs well with the hardware it has, but also is priced well even compared to international standards. For $1100, you get a 13th gen i7, 100w 4060 and a qhd screen with 100% of the srgb colour gamut. This is unprecedented, especially here in Asia.
(For reference, even budget laptops like the asus tuf cost upwards of $1200 with modern specs out here)
I hope you can look into this new contender in the laptop space, and evaluate whether these laptops are a good buy for those of us out here.
Hello, could you hepl me with Asus laptops? Which one should I buy (prise is the same)? ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 (i9 13980HX, 4080) or ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 (Ryzen 9 7945HX, 4090)
14:00 Ubuntu 24.04 just released. Maybe that will fix some of the problems like the Wi-Fi, although that might not fix the speakers or webcam, as I've seen many other laptops not have working speakers and I think some Intel laptops have firmware blobs that are needed for the webcam to work. If you want a Linux laptop, try System76 or Slimbook's options. Heck, even Framework's Laptop 13 and 16 are better fits for many people while CPU performance is much better. Heck, even the raw GPU performance on the 16 is better. Sadly, no DLSS, but you better Linux support and amazing upgradability.
With bezels this thin what excuse does apple have to keep cutting into the screen
I avoid Dell laptops since they issued Dell XPS 9500 with defective screen. It freezes when you work and you can't do anything until reboot. It has become work properly only after entire screen replacement.
Is it really possible to use a double sided Ssd with 8tb?
How if it compared with asus vivobook in same price? Which is better?
would u recommend an hp omen 17 rtx 4090 intel i7-13700HX for 1850$? 4080 model is 1600$ is it worth the jump
Jarrod! A 2024 TUF review would be appreciated
Type C charging is truly an underrated feature.
My old Dell latitude 7390 2in1 and Hp elite book have it... And they are from 2017.
Your tonal inflection is strong
"I never thought that I would see a Blade 14 looking competitive. But Dell have managed to pull it off." Hahahaha! Yup, the XPS ship has sailed for me. 7590, 9500, and then 9530 (i9 4070, fhd). I've moved to Lenovo. I got the 2023 Legion Slim 7i (i9, 4070, 16G ram, 1 TB ssd) at $2099 (CAD). The 9530 with similar specs, but 40w dgpu and lower res 60Hz ips, cost about $1K more. Ya, no!
I'm glad I had waited long enough until the G14/G16 was released. It's a clear win compared with the XPS lines in many aspects, especially for the pricing of what you get.
Which is better dell Alienware m16 R2 ultra 9 4070 vs legion 7i 4070
Leaving the cpu which is good buy please help me I have to buy tomorrow please help me I trust you with eyes closed 😊
Loved the older xps models, but hated they didn't have a dgpu. This just honestly isn't good for the price
I am studying in China and I have seen a laptop with Intel i9 11900es CPU. But I can't find anything about it. Can anyone tell me more about this CPU?
I will never get a XPS till they put back those physical function keys.
To those who are getting this laptop, good luck to you finding those Touch Bar buttons under bright environment.
Question: why has no single reviewer, reviewed the Acer Predator Tritan 17X? 😢
The Asus ROG Flow X13 is another contender in this space, slightly smaller and more portable with performance close to the G14 but in a 2 in 1 form factor
I have the 2023 model. It has a higher tier RTX 4070 and 40 watts of GPU power (compared to 35 watts and only an RTX 4050 on the XPS 14) but is smaller, has more ports, better thermals, a better keyboard and touchpad, and is a 2 in 1. I can't find any reason to buy the XPS 14 over the Zephyrus G14 or the Flow x13...
Hi bro
Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16APH8 (82Y9000QUS) $899 and Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 (83DV00FXUS) $890
Which one is better to buy in 2024.
Or is here any other Gameing laptops in this price point.
Please reply.
Thank you 😊
Dell's really lost the plot lately, hopefully we'll see a return to form before too long.
I doubt it. We'd be lucky if we see any improvements by 2026.
let's hope it flops
Hey Jarrod, as we all know that 4050,60 and 70 dont go beyond 100-105watts, then why companies market their laptops saying that the 4050,60 or 70 fitted in their laptop is of 140watts?
Could you do a review on Asus TUF F16 2024?
i cant find laptop better than macbook m3,but i am windows user, its really hard for me to find new laptop
I never thought I'd see the day when Razer would be price-competitive, even on 14' models.
i have been burned once by Dell Laptop, never again.
yeh we need an explanation on that chief
Yes. They keep having so many quality control issues and some have never been fixed.
used a dell inspiron for 3 years, replaced by a legion laptop after realising my use case is too much for the poor laptop to handle, which is also said by a technician after he repaired my laptop and found me testing the laptop by pushing an AAA game, in which he said it wasn't an alienware, pushing that hard will just cause problems if pushed for too long
@@nicecarphill i have a dell precision 5540, and it just runs way to hot, always throttling even while doing mundane things. But the worst is that everything is locked down in BIOS but since its from Work i didnt just nuke everything. TLDR to much power for the formfactor and restrictive BIOS etc.
Only one? I work at a reseller and you'll be surprised how many ppl blame resellers and not dell
Will you make a Dell XPS 16 review next ?
Not worth it. Too expensive for what you get and all of the compromises Dell made.
XPS 14 just dropped the ball with fewer ports and electronic F keys. Hopefully the XPS 14 gen 2 fixes those issues with the Lunar Lake CPU.
Also, it really isn't designed to be a primary gaming laptop. It is supposed to be for engineering and content creation with some gaming on the side. Apple's M3 Pro MacBook Pro 14 is better for content creation, and Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i is better for engineering and content creation.
I like that Asus made the better XPS 14 with their Zephyrus G14 this year. Also how tf did they make a 14 inch laptop that heavy considering that it didnt even have crazy cooling with vapor chamber
I loved this laptop :p
But it's opposite day! 😂
Alienware m16 r2 next please!!!!!
Hi man, can you tell me something about msi alpha c7vg with 4070? There is nothing about it :/
Haven't looked at alpha series since 2020 or something, hopefully it's better now..
@@JarrodsTech there were problems with it? Don't know why but there is nothing on UA-cam about this series. Is it budget or something? HP Omen Transcend 14 review when? TwT
Hello, Jarrod.
Can I reach out to you briefly about a laptop I'm trying to purchase? I don't use patreon, so I can't join your discord unfortunately.
All I'm trying to find is a good laptop for mid sized indie game development; I've been considering the Asus Tuf F15 (2023 model.) with the core I513500H, Nvidia Rtx 4050.
Found a 16 gigabyte model for around 900 or so dollars on Amazon.
I was also wondering if it would run Linux well as I don't find Windows to be suited for me, nor will I lose much from changing to a Distro like Manjaro or any up to date general use Distro.
Hope to catch a few replies, thank you.
10:18 you said 1200 instead of 2000
13 seconds ago is crazy
15:57 100% agree! 😂
what about the 16?
Nope. Still low wattage and not enough ports. And upgrade options are worse than the Dell XPS 17 from last year.
Please compare 13700hx vs 13900hx vs 14700hx vs 14900hx
probably unpopular opinion but i think hp omen 14 would be a very good alternative if someone is looking for a similar form factor, performance device.Only reason i wouldn't recommend it is because it seems bit poorly built, too much flex and wobbly hinge. Lenovo yoga slim 7i 14" and zenbook 14 2024 models are better value overall imo.
Dell xps 16 please
3:06 nice design?
3:48 yes it is
Why even bother with dgpu if laptop cant even cool it without gimping it. Another e-waste from Dell.
Is it me or does everyone single laptop you review end up being not worth the price? Why do companies charge so much for gaming laptops and still end up making an underwhelming product?
Are you new viewer? Cuz it is rarely happend last hear

"... and you know, that you ARE in trouble, when Apple has more ports than you do ..." 🙂🙂🙂
Simply put: Nothing from dell is ever worth it. Just pretend they don’t exist. Been f’ed over once by them and I will never allow it again.
I hate this laptop’s design due to lack of accessibility. How the hell blind people are going to use it? Yes there’s quite options for them but still. Dell didn’t want try to think about it… Lenovo’s new thinkpad’s product introduction videos clearly says that accessible design… like little textures. When apple introduced the touch bar I was also upset. Apple is one of the most advertised by their accessibility features. At least they could have some taptic engine. People does not want to understand how the physical buttons, keys are…
This is such a bad laptop if you're visually impaired. They could have at least made the surface on the wrist rest that's not part of the touchpad feel a bit different or at least lit up the active touchpad area, but nah, they hate good design at Dell...
This year's XPS line is a huge miss for me... Awful keyboard and I want real function/escape/etc keys. In my book the XPS 2020-2023 models were the right design - I prefer 17" 16:10 with no numpad... If Dell had merely dumped Intel for better AMD processors, gone with higher refresh non-touch screens, and gotten away from the soldered wifi in '20-'23 machines they'd have had a good chance at taking my money. In my book the "(almost) everything soldered down" BS is also a major problem with 2024 hardware - I'll most likely order a Framework soon to avoid that plague.
Wow! Dell really failed on this generation of XPS. I bought an ASUS Zenbook 14 with the same CPU but no GPU and 16GB RAM/1TB SSD for less than 1/2 the price of the XPS 14. This is in serious need of discounts
I wouldn't even buy this for $1000. This is such a bad laptop.
Dells seem weirdly heavy. My
Work switched from lenovo to dell and my 16" is notably heavier. Its over 6lbs. Id never spend my own money on a Dell.
I still have my Dell xps 15 7590 that I bought used for 1200€ in 2019(i7 9750h, 32gb ram,1tb ssd, gtx 1650).
It's a shame Dell hasn't produced a single laptop worth the cost of the machine since then...
aesthetic stand point 100% ….usability? Almost all reviewer that reviewed this laptop hating it 😂
I tried xps 16 2024 in store. The trackpad, keyboard and design are way nicer than my m1 macbook except the speaker. Gonna buy this just for the design and windows (more intuitive and faster file management than the slow boring mac os)
Love to hear that you liked our trackpad. 🙌
