Wow, thank you! Vert helpful, I'm visiting Italy for the first time in September and so excited. Please add more of these type videos. You make it fun learning Italian!!!
This was very helpful! Visiting Italy for the first time in October - spending quite a bit of time in very rural areas where my ancestors come from. Took the language in college but that was over 10 years ago so this video was a huge help! I am nervous to speak Italian to locals but then I remember that I have had previous interactions with Italians when family have visited in USA and they are always extremely helpful and patient when you speak Italian with them. They really appreciate the effort!
Very useful video, thank you. When we visited Italy in March I'd been taking daily lessons for two months, but still struggled when I needed to say that we had booked a table. We ended up being seated away from the other diners and to make things worse I received an email from the booking app to say that we had failed to honour our booking. When we return next month I'll be better prepared.
Just been to Italy and managed to to order food and drink so was very happy. I did come unstuck when I tried to order a "Primi" and ask if it would be possible to share it with my wife..got there in the end but it was a struggle! Thanks again
Were you able to share then? I'm going to Italy soon and I already know I won't be able to eat pasta and pizza and meat after that. I'd like to try many things though so since I'm going with a friend I'd like to be able to share

For example, when someone enters a restaurant and sits at a table, he can say, after having a look at the menu…….Per Primo (first course)prendo Spaghetti alla Carbonara e per Secondo (second course) prendo una bistecca (a steak).
A good summary. Can I not order a first course, say pasta, skip the second course and then order dessert? I'm still trying to understand the protocol. I will persevere...
Haha, just got back after traveling across Italy for 3 weeks, here is where I went using the AMAZING Italian public transportation system”…all over Rome, Ostia Antica, Orvieto, Florence, San Gimingiano (Tuscany), Assisi, Florence, Bologna, Ravenna, Rimini, Modena, Padua, Mantua, Milan and Turin. Here are my observations. Most young Italians are pretty fluent in English (in fact, I think they are a little insulted if you assume they don’t). Most Older Italians no at least some English. If you know a few Italian words and use hand signals it can help. The easy part is saying a few Italian words. The HARD PART is understanding Italian when it’s fired at you like a major league fast ball. It takes watching many many many videos (and lots of study and practicing) to do that. As soon as you start using your “Italian” with your horrible American accent they usually switch to English 😂😂😂
I drink it all the time (even in the evening) People here think i'm weird (traditionally is only for breakfast) but who cares! Cappuccino is always awesome!! 😄
@@HeWoNe Allora: alla Sua salute! (This is a matter of traditions clash, I think: for us the concept "Drink a cappuccino after 12 am" do not exists. Sorry for my english)
I have tried to learn Italian, and also German,Spanish and French.I am useless at each Language(2 out of 10).I am trying to learn Italian again now.(2 out of 10 again). If I went into a Coffee Shop in Italy,I would sit down at a table,I would then look at the menu.I would choose a coffee from the menu, and then catch the eye of the waiter.I would point to him on the menu,in what coffee I would want. The waiter would bring the coffee.I would then settle the bill for the coffee. It is easy as that.
It was actually quite frustrating that cafes do not expect one to not have coffee and croissant. They roll their eyes and pretty much ignore your order! In the end, I found some cafes that will offer Americano- scrambled eggs and ham and an orange juice.

So when in doubt, say Prego.
E l'apericena?
5 type of cornetto maybe in the north part of Italy. Here in South we have many more variation 😉

Italians usually order a ''cappuccino'' with a ''cornetto''. But then again, anything is possible.
If you come to Milano, or to Northern Italy , we don't say "cornetto", we say "brioche ".
