      The Herd with Colin Cowherd The main thing i see boxing fans having at the moment is a serious lack of respect for mma. The progression mma Fighters have made in the last 10 years is ridiculous. When i see an ELITE athelete conpletely dismiss another, it SCREAMS ignorance

    • @pernellwhitaker5209

      I'm a huge mma fan but i think mma fans are the ones that are disrespectful. It's 2 different sports and you guys act like its the same thing. You fanatics act like Mendes has the boxing ability of Mayweather which is crazy. If a boxer came out and said he could just destroy and knockout a mma champion then that would be crazy and Conor is basically saying the same thing.

  • @Cornelius87

    Truth hurts but Mosley is correct. Face it, if Conor was a boxer he wouldn't even be top 20 in Ireland let alone the world. The only reason he got the fight is because he talks so much that he is able to convince quite a few people that he can do anything. Kind of like how cult leaders convince people to follow them into ridiculous beliefs.

    Fact: Floyd Mayweather Jr. is older than Manny Pacquiao.
    So why are people still claiming that Mayweather Jr. waited for Pacquiao to get older? Did Floyd not age at all during that period?

      Vee Draw Stuff " in boxing you age by the punches you take, and War's your in, you don't age by number. Bernard Hopkins won titles at 46 48 and 49 due to his longevity of defensive brilliance as did Mayweather. So in that sence Pac would be way older via suffering war's and knockout losses.

      Shane was saying that if Floyd fought conor in the octagon, and if conor chose to fight Floyd stand up only no wrestling or ground game, that Floyd would probably win. Shane forgot about leg kicks, body kicks, head kicks, knees to the face and to the body via muay thai clinch, elbows to the face, Floyd would never be able to defend against a spinning back elbow, not to mention conors hands. he's never practiced defending any of that stuff at all ever. And don't say conor cant box, he was landing big shots in that clip sparring Paulie, and Paulie has fought way more recently than conor has so don't even say Paulies out of shape. If conor was as bad as people are saying he should have never landed those type of shots on Paulie. Conors got just as much chance to win by ko as Floyd does. Floyd ain't been knockin out nobody in a while

    • @ramboslice7322

      heymelon It's not that James Toney chose to lose. It's the fact that he chose to fight in a different environment with mma rules which he is not accustomed to. Which is why he lost.
      It's like trying to compare a great nfl linebacker with a great nba powerfoward. The great linebacker would suck on a nba court just like the nba power forward would probably suck on the football field. Two totally different sports. And that's something that McGregor fanboys don't understand. I think that's what shane was trying to explain.

    For those of you who don't understand the nuances of boxing. Conor McGregor has no chance what-so-ever. His stance is to wide. He has slow lateral movement for boxing. His balance/stance off his back foot is to slow to pivot and make powerful punches. He's a stricker and not a boxer who needs to be just as fluid with his movement as Floyd. His jab is not crisp like a seasoned boxer. If this was a street fight, no rules I would pick McGregor but this boxing at a world -class level and that takes time to develop. This is not a "Rocky" movie when Stallone got hit in the stomach when sparring with by then an over-the-hill Earnie Shavers he waved-off and said "No Mas". Derrick "DV Ali".

I mean, do you know how stupid that is. Aldo is great and all but he'll get killed in a boxing ring, especially if you lead with his face like he did against Mcgregor. And Mendes and Alvarez are wrestlers who don't really have great mma striking ability let alone boxing ability.

      mula00 early on he was more of a pressure fighter and at times even threw reckless. His career was greatly prolonged as he more of a defensive technician.
      Even Mayweather changed which helped prolonged his career. He was perhaps the greatest lightweight of all time as “pretty boy floyd” and after hatton he had a complete style change as “money may”.
      Manny on the other hand just went head first and had brawling wars. That definitely aged him faster and floyd was smart to know that. They didn’t age equally.

    • @TheGothGaming
      @TheGothGaming 6 років тому +2

      different eras have different fighters. Floyd being undefeated only tells us that there was no other boxer of his caliber in that particular era.
      In Duran's era for example, there were like 4 boxers that were constantly beating each other because they were on the same level.
      if you take floyd in his prime and faced him against duran in his prime or leonard in his prime he wouldnt remain undefeated for too long.

      I love how Conor's followers think that he will somehow re-invent or create some style that has never been seen. It doesn't matter what he studies, if he brings back Bruce Lee from the dead to train him... He's going to get outclassed because he isn't an elite boxer. He's going against someone way beyond his ring IQ. Floyd has been in there with men who are way, way better than Conor. Conor is selling difference to his fans, but look at his footage; it's a bunch of slow punches. rabbit punches, bad boxing footwork & sloppy shots that leave him open to be countered. If he was going against someone that was at his amateur level, then the fight would be closer. He won't win one round against Floyd, though. Night and day talent-wise.

    Shane does very well in his assessment of Floyd, but its clear that he's not very familiar with Mcgregor. Saying Conor doesn't fight well moving backwards is flat out untrue. One of many examples would be of him Knocking Jose Aldo out with one punch (13 seconds) while backpedaling. Aldo had never lost in the ufc, let alone been knocked out. I think Floyd will win but he should exercise extreme caution in the first few rounds. Its true that Mcgregor and maidana are both unconventional, but in two completely different ways. Maidana was just awkward and would brawl, whereas McGregor is far more technical/calculated and unorthodox. Mayweather will always be the better pure boxer but McGregor could still very well ko him.

    • @yaboiyaboy9980
      @yaboiyaboy9980 6 років тому +5

      I guess well see what happens, but if you compared the diaz vs McGregor fight and the Mayweather vs maidana fight i think you'll see there's no comparison as far as Madina being far more technical then McGregor

    • @MehMah83
      @MehMah83 6 років тому +5

      Difference is Maidana is a great boxer and Conor isn't a boxer.

    • @rustyboone1434
      @rustyboone1434 6 років тому

      Amer Syed Maidana was considered a journeyman just a few fights before mayweather. I'd call him good but not great. He brawled too often and telegraphed his punches. Also, mma fighters train in boxing daily. Saying mma fighters cant box is a lot like saying football players can't run because they don't compete in track. Or don't focus on running alone.

    molsey says floyd needs to put presser on conor, as he doesn't know how to fight backwards . this just tells us that molsey knows nothing about conor or mma and is just having a bs one sided opinion on boxing.
    conor kod aldo in 13 seconds going backwards, conor knocked down eddie Alvarez going backwards, conor kod/tkod Marcus brimage going backwards.

    • @pernellwhitaker5209
      @pernellwhitaker5209 6 років тому +22

      Mosley isn't talking about Mayweather just jumping in with his face first like Aldo. He's talking about putting him on his back foot like Heerden did in the sparring video and how Nate did when he backed him up in the cage. Methodically.

    • @bryanjmm4532
      @bryanjmm4532 6 років тому

      pernell whitaker nate is a mix martial artist thats a bjj black belt. floyds a boxer. nate can put presser on conor and then clinch or clinch and try and take conor down. conor doesn't have to worry about that with floyd in a boxing fight.
      if floyd trys to put presser on conor from the bell, floyd will get kod.

    • @pernellwhitaker5209
      @pernellwhitaker5209 6 років тому +9

      I actually think Conor is great and is up there in skill with Jon Jones but Jones is better. You are too much a fanboy and think Conor is a god. I don't understand why you are so bias you don't even know him personally.

    • @bryanjmm4532
      @bryanjmm4532 6 років тому

      pernell whitaker theres always good fighters of an era and then theres special fighters of an era. floyd mayweather is a special boxer of his era, like manny and conor is a special fighter in this era of mma.
      people get smoked screened into thinking a good fighter is a special fighter because they dominate there divison, but the fact is, jon jones and mighty mouses are in two of 3 weakest divisions in the ufc.
      jon jones dominates a weak divison through being much bigger, longer and athlete, plus he has mostly beatan Pioneers of the sport. mighty mouse is dominating the weakest division in the ufc and when challenged by a former world champ in tj dillashaw from the next weight class up, mm went into hiding.

    • @pernellwhitaker5209

      hey man like i said i'm really a big mma fan so i don't want to sound like i'm trashing mma or Conor but he is a mixed martial artist and not a specialist in boxing and that's basically my point. Floyd is a specialist in boxing and he's been doing and seeing all kinds of stuff since age 6. Is Conor great, sure he is and I think he has natural boxing ability but he's simply not a pro and hasn't faced pros in real competition. It's like saying you have good grappling skills and then expect to enter a bjj tourney and win it all. that's not likely to happen

    Best ever is Roy Jones Jr. and I'm a white dude that likes UFC. Roy had the best combination of speed and power ever. His style would beat Tyson and Mayweather if they were all the same size. Roy kept his hands low, he still had speed and power which means he would have dominated mma too. He was just less picky with his opponents.
