  • Today I'll be showing how I made a #fantasy #fairyhouse using a glass jar and #polymerclay , that you can use as a cool decoration as well as a #lantern!
    Use an LED tealight (battery operated tealight) to light up the house, not a regular candle.

    A truly spectacular fantasy creation Maive 😍 a really great video, especially when you get so close and show how to get the details on the clay. I wasn’t sure why you were using black as the base, but now I understand. It is amazing, and I’m going to give making one of these a go. Super duper impressed 👍🏽👍🏽

    • @MaiveFerrando
      @MaiveFerrando  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Whitney, so happy you're enjoying my videos and that you feel inspired to sculpt. I never had a problem with masking tape being in the oven. The temperature is relatively low (110 Celsius). What I do is put the house in the oven first and then turn the oven on so that they both warm up together. I set the timer once the oven reached my desired temperature. Really hope this helps but do let me know if there's anything else I can help you with :)

    Love your tutorials! Have just bought myself some clay so I can make fairy houses for the children at work for their fairy garden. You gave me hope I could pull it off! New subscriber here. 😁 I have bought air dry clay though. 😕 Will I still be able to bake it for 15 mins in the oven each time do you think? X

  • @LedZepUltimateFanPage
    @LedZepUltimateFanPage 3 роки тому

    So cute. Question. Would you have to put the clay under the foil, or would using foil work just as well? thanks.

    • @MaiveFerrando
      @MaiveFerrando  3 роки тому

      I'm sorry I don't understand the first part of the question :'D The reason I use foil is to save clay and to help the clay cure more evenly. Polymer clay in thick, dense layers (like the rood would be without the foil core) doesn't cure properly.

    • @LedZepUltimateFanPage
      @LedZepUltimateFanPage 3 роки тому

      @@MaiveFerrando I wasnt sure if the first layer of black clay on the glass was needed. Great idea using foil to save on clay. I like that.

    These fantasy houses are my favorite type of tutorial! I really love the technique of pale tones over black clay, it's absolutely lovely and looks really lived in. I also appreciate that you make these tutorials really approachable. I'm definitely going to give this one a shot!
    If you don't mind me asking a question, I seem to have this weird issue where my clay is super sticky and tends to want to stick to my hands and tools, which makes it super difficult to make small delicate things like the little roses. Do you happen to have any advice?

    • @MaiveFerrando
      @MaiveFerrando  6 років тому

      Thank you Anna, I'm glad you enjoy this kind of tutorial. As for the sticky clay it could be that there is too much oil (plasticizers) in it. I do have a tutorial on how to fix soft clay, it's easier if you watch it rather than having me explain it :D Let me know if that helps, otherwise it could be that the clay you're using is too soft for that type of work. I use mainly PREMO and FIMO professional. FIMO soft and Sculpey III are very soft and I don't recommend them to make delicate flowers with.

    • @annan9651
      @annan9651 6 років тому

      Ahhhh, I see! My local craft store only carries Sculpey III so that's what I have on hand. I will try to snag some Premo online (and of course watch your tut anyway, since I seem to have missed that one). Thank you so much!!

    These are so cute. I'd love to add these to my flower garden, could they go out side?

    • @MaiveFerrando
      @MaiveFerrando  6 років тому

      Thank you :) If you didn't paint the clay I'd say yes because polymer clay is waterproof although like anything left out in the sun, the colours may fade away. But paints and varnish are not waterproof and will get deteriorated by the elements. Hope this helps :)
