Hunger - Day 17 | 30-Day Composition Challenge (Theme: Hunger)

This was written for Day 17 of Ryan Leach's "2022 Theme of the Day Challenge" where I'll compose one piece per day for the entirety of June. The prompt for June 17th was "Hunger". I was delayed in working on this due to a power outage issue, though I still intend to do all 30 themes. For this prompt, I tried conveying a gnawing eerie sense through utilizing Bartok-style dissonances. The texture is mostly sparse with a few layers of sound written with three staves but playable for solo pianist. Lots of canonic imitation in the three lines, and a hint of whole-tone scale elements in the middle to give a floating eerie feeling.
