If they are Micron D9, it will help.
"High Definition Audio Bus" was what XP video drivers often called the HDMI audio. Set him up with an XP VM for his old hardware: Use a modern NUC or other tiny PC headlessly and VMware for easy and reliable PCI or USB pass-thru, add COM/LPT ports to the host as needed, and then he can use it over RDP/Anydesk/whatever on his daily driver. We have a lot of customers with old plotters and this is an easy, reliable, and cheap solution that's far better than the astronomical expense of a new plotter.
Timmy Joe: "I swear to God I'm trying to turn it off!"
Everyone Else: "Yeah ok whatever dude, you're liking it"
LOL
@Jacek Tomczyk, my Dad doesn't own or use a computer. He also rarely watches TV, has no interest in videos or DVDs. So no, my Dad's not like that at all.

I was thinking that same thing 😂
The moment you fired up that porn disc and could not shut it down. I swear I have not laughed so hard in a long time. Thanks, Tim you kill me.
yeah hilarious turn it off turn it off and it goes full screen for what ever reason probably hit maximize instead of close🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When he first pulls up the video and it’s not censored 😳
Awesome. I always find porn in people's DVD drives lol. It's great when I tell the customer about the great video they sent with their broken computer 😃👍
This was a funny case but I remember 10 years ago when I was doing PC servicing. A client left a DVD inside nothing written on it and when I opened it it had underage pornography on it with kids. I had to call the cops, he was weird from the start but that hit the nail in the coffin and I do not regret losing him.
@@Teksers Do you still have that DVD? I'm asking for a friend.
@@IgorBozoki1989 I hope you are joking, the police took everything related to that PC and even checked our premises to see if we made copies. If you are not joking you should check your head.

Most computers from the 2000 era won't display the boot sequence on modern monitors. Some manufacturers of monitors have included legacy support modes, but even then they may only display when an operating system loads. The safest way to boot an older computer with display for access to your bios, command prompt, executing safe mode, etc. is to always use an older monitor. It might also be necessary, if at all possible, to force the first display to come from the PCI-E or AGP port first in the bios.
It's important to use an older monitor or you might find yourself in a never ending loop of replacing other components when you're computer is booting normally, you just have no display.
Get a x58 MB, a lot of them have IDE, com pots and other legacy things. Not to mention you can put a 6 core in there :) .
Edit: not many x58 boards have com and lpt ports, but you can get pcie cards for that. Still x58 has beter compatibility with windows XP.
That's what I'm doing, probably gonna order it on monday actually
Yep, I’ve seen a few asus and gigabyte X58 boards have IDE connectors
Even better: Get an industrial embedded PC.
@Lance Ivan Dela Cruz I found the GA-x58A-ud5a rev 2.0 in a pc on the side of the road. Try getting an x58 locally. Good luck :)
Gonna be honest, most boards ive ever seen have serial and LPT headers on them, you just need a cable to bring it to the rear panel. H370 d3h I know for sure has LPT, not sure where serial is
You have another day too buddy! 😂

Well, sometimes you just can't upgrade to a new platform without spending a fortune for no real benefit. In our lab we still have a measurement system connected to a Pentium 3 system. The reason is the software is programmed for the GPIB card in it, which is ISA and doesn't work in those new boards with an ISA slot XD
0:20 i mean. That video on the CDROM is definitely Gizzo.
Great video, it's always fun to see a system you built for someone years later. I used the same case for a co-workers build around 2009, I think I went to C2Q, which was overkill for a family/office PC. I wonder if it's still alive.
Things like that DVD are why some of techs don't view stuff on client's systems, and why the others do
i have watched a lot of old videos of you from the old computers and video card and i think that''s great especially now
The company I work for was still using all XP machines as of 2015 because their database/invoicing program was some old ass keyboard only DOS based thing. I'm glad we finally moved past that, but wow. I still have an old Dell XP laptop somewhere at the office that has autocad, if needed. That was from an era where you bought a program and actually owned it, versus now when you can only just pay a subscription.
I used to have that same case but then upgraded to the Cooler Master Centurion 534. That is the Cooler Master Centurion 5. I took my 534 and cut the side panel out and rattle caned the inside flat black. It was my second mod back in 2008. First time I modded a case by cutting the side panel and added Blue LEDs was back in 2003.
i see that as an absolute win
i was hoping for its not a beach its a bath tub but o well
These videos are a lot of fun, thanks for making them!
Haven't finished the vid and you are already reading comments?

I used to have that case, I loved it!! Wish I could get it back
Your face when the drive made that noise LMAO
Used to say XP meant extra problems, but ended up liking the OS later- great and funny vid Timmy- keep em coming!
Why not build him a newer Windows XP machine? A few years ago Austin Evans made a video where he built a Windows XP machine with an AMD 9590 CPU and a 270x graphics card. All of that hardware supports the Windows XP operating system.
As other have said, use an X58 motherboard, it will probably have COM and LPT ports, you can run windows 7 on it, with windows XP mode (virtual machine) for the old software. i have to do this sort of thing for CNC machines all the time.
Fixes a computer, gets paid in C-tier smut. I like it
just when I thought this guy had no class lookin at that dinosaur of a pc he redeems himself and shows himself a true gentleman of elegance and taste with the Amy Reid Gina Lynn custom burned DVD. Hazzaaaa.
LOL, porn burned to a CD.
But this reminds me of a service call I got for a semi-truck transmission shop. Their payroll was being printed off an old dot matrix printer that they communicated with over a token ring network. I'm not young, and that printer was almost a decade older than I am. Was barely able to find the part, used. Told them to start looking to update that system since then next time it goes down, there may not be a way to bring it back.
Yea, some people have a hard time moving on... I had one client that was so hell bent on saving money you wouldn't believe the equipment they were running. It was a good idea in principal, but from what I saw, I don't think it was saving them any money what so ever.
Since 2005 my main job has been running a senior center for a small non profit, and I can 100% believe it, as I had one client about 3 years ago, and she kept on insisting I try to fix her old Packard Bell Pentium 75 Mhz machine running Windows 95 over, and over again she had not used in years so she could go online with it, and do Skype with her son who lives on the west cost in Oregon. I was like yeah that's not gonna happen, and Knowing she did not have the money for a new machine(her son was paying for her to have basic cable, and basic cable internet, so why he would not get her a computer as well is beyond me), so I went on eBay, and got her a used Lenovo Thinkpad X120e that looked in good shape with a dual core AMD APU someone posted for $90 that would not boot(it was bad RAM) so chucked in 8GB of RAM, and installed Chromium OS via Neverware Cloud Ready OS Home Edition on it, and she's been a happy camper ever since first using Google Hangouts, and now Google Duo to do her video calls to her son, and his family, along with her basic web stuff. So sometimes you just have to be firm, and tell people no this is not going to work, and just do what it takes to get the job done, and make them happy again with something that does work.
@@CommodoreFan64 I can't give any specifics, but these where much older then that and had 15 machines total. Running newer software didn't pose a problem for these machines from a technical stand point given what the solution was.... But the solution created a large number of other costly problems that wouldn't have been created had they just replaced the machines in the first place. Meh
My first PC used that case. It's kinda nostalgic.
7:31 I swear I thought he was gonna say "I am going to recommend he get some more up to date porn". Gina lynn? On a dvd? Christ dude. I just got early 2000s flashbacks 🤣
i worked in car audio and anytime we had to trouble shoot a system with a dvd player in it they always had a dirty movie in them
I still use an old Core 2 Quad, in fact I'm using it to watch this video! I use it to watch nearly all my media consumption, running Win10x64, on a small 120gb SSD, and a GTX 550 ti. I would like a better GPU for it tho... but I can't find a decent video card for $150 anymore.
I have that exact OCZ ram in my spares box. Mint.
My uh friend informs me, the video is called "Gina Lynn's Double D's and Derrieres 4" A Jules Jordan production produced 7/1/2009 apparently, so uhm he says anyways.
Sweet!! The old parts I sent came in handy!
Bloody class video! Keep them up :D
I upgraded from the 2007 era Cooler Master Centurion 5 case shown in this video to the Corsair 4000D Airflow just a few weeks ago.
Clearly his own dvd he's just trying not hide it from his wife haha
It's like I'm having a Vietnam War Flashback watching you use XP and all the b.s. you had to go through installing drivers etc. God we have it so easy now...
Well we know what he *really* uses the PC for now don't we.
Yo that Phenom II x4 940 Black Edition was my first ever CPU along with a BFG GTX285 OC :o
Still running as my now "retro" build to this day 👌
I buy a lot of PC electronics and gaming console lots....I have an entire old skool CD case full of games left in them...and that's not even counting things I have found on hard drives. Some people really don't care what they leave on them.
I hope your cable management has improved since you built this one!!!!! haha
That cable management!!!
Holy crap, that's the same Cooler Master Centurion case I used in my first PC build in 2007 :)
There are some pci-e too serial port adapters so you could build a newer 1155 system for him as that has windows xp drivers too for i think pretty much everything he would need I'd imagine, maybe have it dual boot into 10 as well for going online on the same system.
Not too mention 1155 still has pci slots so you could reuse the pci too serial adapter already existing there.
Think all 1155 chipsets work for windows xp too so would have quite the options for hardware there not too mention reliability.
Just needs the sata drivers pre-loaded before installing windows xp & it's good too go, skip overclocking ofc if you get a z chipset motherboard or have one at hand, maybe slight overvolting on the ram for stability, like 1.5 too 1.55v on the ram.
Also very common these early am3 / late am2+ motherboards failing on the ram slots, got one am3 asus board that has 1 ram slot working, which isn't great when all you have spare is 2 gb ram sticks lol.
When are you going to build something in that gray Apevia X-Cruiser Case you have in the back round?
Love it lol , love the old hunkajunk got loads of ddr and edo ram laying around lol
Hey Timmy interesting video! I still use this early Cooler Master Cosmo case with my Sandy 2600K rig. (blue painted version/2005) So.., was the issue with the ram slots not recognizing/seeing ram? I have that same problem with 4 sticks of ddr3 (16 gigs total) of ram. every once in awhile my MSI P67 would boot loop on startup. I just remove the ram and spray the slots and ram with electronics cleaner and it boots right up! I think corrosion gets into the slots and causes the system to demise/fail. Keep up the cool videos!
My first build, which I still have, has a AMD Phenom 965 x4 BE clock to 4.0 ghz with an air cooler. Was able to get it to 4.4 ghz stable, 4.5 shut it down..
I had 2x 2 gig sticks of OCZ Reapers you showed, with the heat pips on top. Wish they made them still. They honestly look better than current ram sticks! I at some point, added two more sticks of the same ram that I bought off ebay for way to much. But in the end, I had 8 gigs. Although I had all 4 sluts populated. Just wish I knew then, what I know today. Now have 8 gigs 2× 4 gigs of Patriot Gamer Series installed.
My psu, was way more then I needed at the time, 800 watts. Kingwin Mach 1. It was semi modular with screw in cables that looked absolutely nice. There were rings around each cable that lit up in blue when connected.
I have Windows 7 installed on a 1 tb WD Cavaier Green hd. Not much else installed, except Quake 3 Arena. Awesome game to play!
That customer wont be coming back after showing the contents of that CD too the Internet.
Or posted the video after giving it back to the customer

Phenom II on AM2. . . I made a mistake putting my Athlon II (same generation, just a cut-down version of Phenom) on an AM2+ board. I truly regretted that move as within a couple of years of building it DDR2 prices started skyrocketing, then became virtually impossible to find in my area. So that system was stuck at 4G of RAM. . . had I not cheaped out and got an AM3 board instead, I would've been able to upgrade the RAM much easier and much sooner, and then later swap the Athlon II for an FX series CPU.
Omg timmy-jizzo 😲😱😃🤣🤣🤣 I bet this was the best day in the office. Lots of jizz-in lmao 🤣 👍
Are you doing copies? :)
To check the motherboard and cpu, you have to do it without ram for beepcodes with this type of machine like lga775 or phenomII's. Only motherboard, cpu, psu, fans, and a buzzer. If the ram or the dimm socket is broken, the machine gives no beepcodes and the fans turn for an eternity.
I think old nvidia cards have a sync issue with monitors over dp to hdmi. I redid a Mac mini 3.1 put windows 10 on it because you know why not? Mini overkill DVD player that's why lol. Also to see if fallout will run. But any who I tried the other output on the video card then the display port worked and synced after the fact.
I used that same case for like a decade. It's the CM Centurion 5. and my power button fell off too, lol too funny!
Love me some Timmy Joe!
the wheezy laugh made the "surprise video" even better
Great video.
7:07 in the end the computer was not the only thing fixed, i think Amy Reid and Gyna were also fixed!
Have you tried the 32-bit version of windows 7? I have found in the past that you can finagle a lot of Windows XP programs to run properly on that OS. For that matter, even using the in-place upgrade options for Vista, then 7, can sometimes carry a stubborn old program kicking and screaming onto newer hardware. I certainly wouldn't replace an industrial plotter just for software compatibility. I'd either find a way to make it work on newer setups, or I'd stock a closet full of old XP machines.
I have that same Coolermaster case, but in blue instead of grey. Mine is currently housing a Pentium 3 866 MHz, Windows 98 SE and a Voodoo 2 (I have another for SLI but it's not currently installed), but no pr0n in the CD-ROM. My power button has also fallen off, but sadly mine is lost.
Check out the Snappy Driver Utility, It's fantastic for installing drivers on windows.
This is why im subscribed
I had those same Crucial DDR2 sticks. I RMA'd them twice before giving up and buying something else new. The would routinely fail memtest.
Hell yea! I rocked my PII 4X 965BE until 2018 😅
edit. I'm pretty sure it had DDR3 though 🤔
Could you possibly use a modern machine with some RS232 cards and parallel card or usb adapter and run XP on a virtual machine?
that's what I was thinking about myself, it would be interesting to find out.
Hey Timmy Joe the problem with the ATI/AMD drivers is known. Install the drivers and after the system found no driver(error massage) chose the driver lcation and use the driver manualy.

lol, sooooo many people sell their old PCs on eBAY/marketplace without wiping the discs (or if they do its a "quick format" only) ive gotten so many full of porn as well as the usual accounting/emails/holiday pictures. all the HDDs get the DBAN treatment before leaving my posession
15 years or so ago, i managed to bork the file table of a new HDD (with my VERY large VERY diverse) porn collection on it (i had backups on hand of course).
I couldnt fix it on my own with the software i had at the time so i took it to the computer store it came from, The dude behind the counter (typical unfriendly asian guy who didnt ever say much or show emotions) popped it in a computer and started recovering the file table, he says "its fine, ill just restore the file table"
A minute later it must have got to the files in my porn folder, his face lights up with the biggest smile ive ever seen on his face and asks if i have copies of all the data on the disc, to which i say yes, he pulls a brand new HDD off the shelf and gives it to me and says "take this, its going to take too long to recover yours" and sends me on my way, still grinning ear to ear.Im glad i could make his day :)
You should maybe try seeing if you can run a VM, pass through those com/parallel ports... Then you'd be golden
DDR2 was dying very frequently back in the days, just suddenly your PC doesn't post anymore.
