  • Sawhorses. How to make multifunctional sawhorses.
    Sawhorses with addition of t-tracks makes great versatility.
    Made this sawhorse as proof of concept. Will see - will it meet my expectations.
    Scrap wood, aluminium square bars, hand tools, power tools.

    Hi, just got to say, loved the home made T-track and absolutely brilliant idea to stick them on the legs too. Not all of us can afford a triple garage with a fortune in power tools. Cheap and practical. I love it.

    I don't think I've ever seen a track and clamp system like that before . Really cool idea , would be great for a work bench/table as well.

    I bet the t track could be made from 80/20 extruded aluminum instead of the aluminum square bar
    This is the most original sawhorse tutorial I’ve seen

    If I were you I would use those horses to replace the legs holding up your workbench. I believe saw horses are light, can be broken down and portable to take from your shop to another location to set up a temporary work station. That being said your craftsmanship is excellent.

      Ken Corsell a pair of these versus more portable saw horses yeah but just one of these in addition to everything else I haul from one jobsite to another would be an excellent addition for a lot of jobs

    great idea thanks, i made the same (without the T Track) but con-caved the base of the feet, to allow for uneven/bumpy floors. Definately will be putting in T Track in my next lot of Horses.

    In each of the sample uses, why cant a regular clamp (going around the saw horse timber) do the same thing. What does the track add?

    • @garage1168
      @garage1168  5 років тому

      Yes, when using regular clamp t-track makes only small difference - holds clamp in place. But t-track can be used for other things - to hold toggle clamps, bolts (for example to mount vise on sawhorse), etc.

    Interesting idea. But, a saw horse is supposed to be lightweight so it can be carried around for work. This thing must weigh forty pounds with all the hardware added on. Some of the ideas could work well on my stationary tables.

      T-track clamps. They come in various sizes and configurations. From Rockler: www.rockler.com/shop?w=t-track+clamps&oq=T-track+clamps
      From Woodcraft: www.woodcraft.com/search?q=T-track+clam
      Microjig and DeWalt also make them.

    Two thumbs up Mate. I really like the design. I know there have been a few comments about quick clamps, but these style clamps have a lot more holding force. Sure you can sort of manipulate F style clamps one handed, but this looks a lot easier. Have you found the aluminium tracks to be strong enough and would there be any point to upgrading to mild steel?
