  • See how to fix a bent motorcycle frame in this video from Partzilla.com.
This Kawasaki Z125 had a minor accident, and the frame has been bent almost an inch out of shape. In this video, John will weld a couple of push-points together so that we can use a bottle jack to push the frame back out and into shape. This technique might not apply to every type of frame damage, but for bends in this area, it might work for you.

Dude, you're gnarly. Nice fix. Would be interesting to learn if the frame can maintain its new shape.

So far so good a few months later. Remeasured a few points and it's right where I left it after a couple hundred miles. Would I attempt this on a sport bike? No way! The Z125's steel frame is much more forgiving. Especially considering it's intended use.

I nearly ordered a new frame until watching this. Makes me feel alot better about the slight tweak I have and can fix vs what this was!

I’m an electrical engineer also, but have spent most of my life working on things mechanical. And I did get a masters in structural engineering so I feel I now have some credentials for mechanical stuff. 😁

Nicely done. Given that the screws for the tsnk lined up and such, you must have beought it to close enough to where its supposed to be. However most of the time with such collisions the camber of the front wheel gets affected as well. You can be lucky and all the movement of the frame might be in the same plane as the bikes middle which runs through the middle of the front and bakc wheel. If the bike doest pull to one side when riding then its most probably fine in the camber department. However in cases as these you realle need an accurate way to measure these things. Strings might be enough but not always. But as i said if it runs fine when ridign with no hands youre most probably good to go. Nicely presed back into position that was done good 💯

Hello John. Help I have a honda rancher 350 and when you push the start or either pull the pull rope it won't crank. It's like it's free spinning. What could be wrong

Did the bending not weaking the bent spot on the the frame?

Cold bending it makes the bent part harder. When it breaks, then it breaks next to the bent part.
