Not going to lie here, I have been struggling mentally fighting Bipolar Disorder among many other mental health disorders for decades. Just recently I started taking an honest, and I mean real honest, look at myself, my behaviors, my thought patterns etc so I can pinpoint my weaknesses and work on strengthening myself as an individual to become the healthiest, happiest and mentally stable version of myself. During my deep introspection, I realized that I rely SO heavily on external validation from others because I severely lack the self-confidence in myself and my decision making abilities. The last two days I have been watching lots of videos specifically on self, internal validation and why it's so essential. I have been a big fan of Caskey for three years now and he just shared this video 4 hours ago. It's like the universe is sending me signs through synchronicities like this. He says "validate yourself on how genuine you are with your creation, the habits that you have and the type of character that you have." Thank you for the lesson/reminder Caskey and I will work more on putting this into practice!! 🙏🏼

I just spent like 30 mins in the whip with my wife explaining to her how an artist is always seeking validation and how it causes me so much conflict in my brain. I’ve taken steps back wondering how to do this all the right way. I told her I have so much respect for an artist when UA-cam recommends them to me, and the video has very little views. And I came to the conclusion, why should I give a fuck about anything anyone says, and I shouldn’t even trip on the numbers because the only thing that really matters is the fact that I will leave something behind on this earth after I die. Please keep making these, as an up and coming UA-camr I constantly compare myself to other creators who are more successful than me. But I know if I keep grinding and enjoying the process I will reach success. I'm close and I know it's going to feel so good when I get there because I've been patient with myself and even when I've wanted to quit I kept going. You definitely have the talent to host your own podcast brother! I've been an artist since I was 19 years old and have been producing instrumentals, writing, rapping, singing ever since! I've gone through the ups, the downs, and have dealt with everything you talk about in this video! I'm 40 now though and a few years ago decided to finally let up off the gas pedal chasing dreams of becoming an artist that tours the world etc. I've made some incredibly good music, but never blew up. I feel there's a few main reasons as to why I never blew up, but it definitely doesn't got shit to do with talent! I've always bitched about how despite recording over 300+ songs I never was able to get a dope music video going. People want to get to know an artist so music videos are absolutely vital to musicians and their careers! Whatever though.. these days I podcast and I love it! As a life long musician, transitioning over to the host of a podcast was super easy to do! Most people struggle starting podcasts and keeping them going and keeping them entertaining, but that shit is super easy for us musicians/artists! Man I reminds me of last year on new years at the emerson in Indianapolis. I opened up the show with a solo set as Trehan and later with The sex waffles. In between that you had some down time between your set and the music video shoot. I sat with you and tasty and me and you had drawn an art piece together signed by all the artists on the show in Florescent so the signatures were hidden. I charish that memory and how personal our interaction was. How you carry yourself is admirable. We have our own venue in indy now and have grown so much since then. For me as an artist I get my validation getting to perform even if I'm alone or in front of 10000 people I feel the whole world dissappear. Theirs no me just music.

Please keep making these, as an up and coming UA-camr I constantly compare myself to other creators who are more successful than me. But I know if I keep grinding and enjoying the process I will reach success. I'm close and I know it's going to feel so good when I get there because I've been patient with myself and even when I've wanted to quit I kept going. Man I reminds me of last year on new years at the emerson in Indianapolis. I opened up the show with a solo set as Trehan and later with The sex waffles. In between that you had some down time between your set and the music video shoot. I sat with you and tasty and me and you had drawn an art piece together signed by all the artists on the show in Florescent so the signatures were hidden. I charish that memory and how personal our interaction was. How you carry yourself is admirable. We have our own venue in indy now and have grown so much since then. For me as an artist I get my validation getting to perform even if I'm alone or in front of 10000 people I feel the whole world dissappear. Theirs no me just music.

I believe music is for the soul to allow the different emotions and struggles to be released through the lyrics of artists. The lyrics saying what we can’t say or are afraid to say out loud. I struggled for a while on exactly what you were speaking of “validation” and so someone told me to read the book, The Four agreements” it was spot on for what I was struggling with and I think you would enjoy the book as well.
