- The Path of Exile 2 developers are finally ready to talk about PoE 2 on consoles, so they've crafted another event in Los Angeles, CA for people to fly out and play the game, live! Thanks to all of your support, I've once again been invited and this time, I am bringing my wife to play alongside me to get some new POE2 gameplay. However, I need your help to prepare us both to properly vet POE2 on consoles.
This comes after the tremendous announcement of PoE 2 cross play, cross progression, and couch co-op on PS5, Xbox Series S, and PC. Amazing.

My main question for PoE2 is will it support on PC using a controller for game play then using a mouse/keyboard for inventory or really at any point just swapping over seamlessly?

Three things I'd love to know:
- How configurable are the hotkeys for the controller? Like, will we be able to change the pickup/interact button or is there an "interact only" check box thingy? Too many times I was unable to pick itens from the ground while in the heat of battle or interacted with a npc while trying to cast something.
- They talked about the buff/debuff hover system, where we can pause the game and read current de/buffs. How does this work with a controller?
- lastly, should we expect any differences between the pc and console controller experience?
@renatocorrea1542 i think the pick is rebindable in alot of different clips in the deep dive it shows X as a different icon and only 1 of those looked like pickup, also the only keys that dont seem bindable are start select and the ps button also im pretty sure the middle pad is clickable but doesnt seem bindable also L3 and R3

Great news! 2000 hours on PC but combat on a controler felt GREAT in POE1 - And this time it's real twin stick! Now if they can just adress the inventory managment at least enough so it's decent, it's going to be real nice
I disagree about combat on controller, but I think the tech and budget are there that it's quite possible they knock it out of the park and make it great for POE2. I proposed seemless transition to m&k for gamepad play on PC because with inventory, that can be a little rough moving one space at a time to get to the bottom right corner of your inventory...that much I agree on for sure. Also, these days, PS5 and the newest Xbox support usb m&k setups.
No fluke my man, you held this game in a good light while it had its darkest hour (Kalandra). GGG may not always hit it right with the league mechanics but they've always appreciated their community and content creators

Same.. at work i work weekends and if we are slow we can game on our pc. But I only got a ps5 at home.. so the cross progression made me super stoked
You are 100% making a difference. I don't always agree with you, but this is my one goto for info on POE2, and seeing's I have dropped more than 2k in POE since its beta I am a customer they probably would like to keep informed so that I return for poe2, so keep up the hard work.

As for party related thoughts, not being a party player myself: If you're playing couch co-op, will you be able to party with other people? It seems like it might run into issues with the party kind of being split between the 'single' members and the 'duo' members playing co-op with the bound camera. Or can two groups of couch co-opers play in a party together? How would they deal with movements skills that suddenly change player position given that aforementioned bound camera? Some food for thought.

Wow nice, congrats! I play poe on PC with controller, and I would like to know if there is an auto detection for your Input device in POE2, like in D4. Until now you can ether use controller OR mouse and keyboard. Trading + managing your Stash is kinda crappy with controller 😅 would love it to be able to use both.
I was wondering this as well. I personally love the direct control of character that a controller provides but I’d like to be able to manage all my stuff with a mouse and keyboard.

Yes, having developed this game so many years ago, POE1 didn't hit the mark with this. That said, D4 does it almost perfectly today, so I'm guessing they'll figure out how to bring it to us with POE2, and i PRAY they do, for my hands/wrists/joints sake.

I want to see some footage of two melee chads together, either you and quin if he goes this time(LOL) or alkaizer, it would be amazing! Way to go man!
We have so much skills and buttons to use,I wonder whether it will be comfortable to play on console because:
1)You need to hold left stick to move your character.
2)You will also often use right stick to dodge the enemy's attacks.
3)Do not forget the other buttons which you will press to attack the enemies.
And the last, you will have to press all this at the same time.
While on keyboard you can reassign the buttons and arrange them next to each other so that you can press them comfortably.
If author of this video is reading my comment I hope you'll give the feedback about the dualsense controller in POE 2 🙏
I imagine controller will be easier to use in conjunction with movement, while PC on a mouse will be better for precise gameplay since you can manually aim where you wanna shoot. Taking your fingers off of movement to press skill buttons on PC won’t be a thing to think about on console at least.
Check out ff14 on controller. There are many ways to bind all these skills and move at the same time.
Since poe2 is being developed with controller in mind instead of after thought I think it will be fine.

@@TalkativeTri I think the OG vs EG bo3 barely tops the final for me, that bo3 was crazy, the game 3 comeback.. holy shit.. and the handshake at the end, it was pure cinema. TI8 was incredible for the story, but TI9 OG was operating levels above every other team, total dominance.

I’d like to see, in action, one class using the skills we’ve only seen on other classes thus far. Like, Ranger using monk staff skills. JR said that was in the game, but I’d enjoy seeing proof on screen.

I'm a casual sweaty player, lol. This isn't console specific but I want to know if one shot mechanics will be in this game. I have 700 hours in Diablo 4 and just deleted it due to, more of the same, dying to one shot mechanics even with a meta build.
I love challenging mechanics but hoping this game won't have artificial difficulty driving the end game content. Any insight on this would be appreciated.
first of all, you deserve this :) we love you man! :) playing with a controller on pc is very appealing to me, and i think controllers will have a huge advantage when playing certain classes. my friends and I are on for many hours during the day and we dont necessarily talk/chat all the time, so my question is, Can we have some sort of speech to chat qol function whilst playing... on the couch? :)

Congratulations! Given that Jonathan Rogers and you are the most passionate PoE2 content creators on UA-cam, it is only fitting that you should join in the testing.
The big question is : spells that target specific, for example traps, will devs be able to make targeting spells good on controllers, because honestly POE 1 on PS5 feels bad. D4 made auto targeting for that kind of spells, and it feels really good on consoles. And what about trading on consoles, will it be different from PC? Thanks for the content man!❤

I need to brush up my lore on PoE cause i've been getting into how much love and hype this game has been getting. I have played some aRPGs when i was younger (Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance) and only recently with Diablo 4.
From what I've been told, Diablo 4 wanted to do what PoE 2 is doing with the less mob density and more intimate fights, but that changed overtime. Though Diablo 4 had many more issues, I hope PoE 2 is much more successful.
I originally started playing POE on PlayStation 5 then fell in love with it and transitioned to the PC version. The 2 biggest differences for me were: graphics and trading. The graphics on the PC are FAR superior to the console version that it was almost shocking to me. It looks so damn good on PC (max settings) that I felt like I was playing a new game. My hope is that POE2 graphics are more equal between PC and console (similar to D4 - I know I cannot mention the "D" word here but one thing they did well was optimize graphics for both PC and console - PS5 and PC Ultra settings are very similar). Regarding trading I liked the console version of trading better than PC. On PS5, you send an offer with your currency attached to the seller's "inbox" and they can accept or reject whenever they want (they do not need to be online and you don't have to whisper then accept invite then travel to their hideout). When the offer is accepted you receive the item in your own "inbox".

I'm so happy for you, dude. Honestly, I was a bit unsure about whether PoE 2 is going to be the game. I've been into PoE since closed beta. Now I'm getting the feeling of PoE 2 becoming a revolution in ARPG genre. Fingers crossed.
Some questions / thoughts from someone who has somehow only played ARPG's on console:
1) it would be nice to have clarity beyond doubt that there will be a unified trade market across platforms, and whether this will be coming to path of exile 1 (only being able to trade with other Xbox users in softcore basically means a totally separate, much smaller market, where you're at the mercy of the one or two players each season that manage to get their hands on a chase item, and in general is much more susceptible to market fixing. Divine orbs in necropolis for example go for around 210 chaos. That's mostly because of a single user, with lots of divine orbs, having lots of individual listings for divine orbs at that price)
2) many of the console features e.g. couch co-op being promoted for PoE 2 have been present in other ARPG's for over a decade (Diablo 3, torchlight, Diablo 4). What is going to set the PoE experience apart?

About the bot concern, two things: we don't even know how auras will work on PoE 2, hope they are different than a bunch of stats. Secondly, even thow botting is a thing we can never really deal with, GGG has shown over the years that they care a LOT about the game integrity, so I trust them to stop abuse cases.
My main console problem I think is the main regular game problem, trade. We have in game trade on Xbox which is less annoying to me than having to go to a seperate website but here are the flaws
1. Inflated item prices sometimes 2 or 3x PC(due to lower population, and ass holes)
2. Can't be as specific in search as on Website
3. Auto buy out! Though some lists something for 10C, the buyout isn't automatic. They still have to approve and it's often ass holes messing with the market. It should be automated after the price is set.
I know there are people who love living in trade but it should be a tool get us back to playing the game not dealing with t human psychology.
I’m curious how they’ll handle twin stick aiming with skills on the face buttons, as using the right stick and face buttons simultaneously would require weird hand contortions to do.
Maybe you’ll just have to rely on auto aim for skills on those buttons, or it keeps the aim of the last input direction on the right stick even after you let go? Would really appreciate if you could test it out, and maybe even ask the devs what their thought process was in handling the right stick and face buttons simultaneously.
It's possible that you just turn your character with the right stick and then shoot while the character continues to look into the direction you turned him, alternatively you could rebind shoulder buttons to skills, which is what I'd probably do
@@Scorptice Shoulder buttons are definitely remapable, but I feel like if I’m playing a ranged character 4 buttons might not be enough. Especially if PoE2 is gonna be less about optimizing one or two skills you that you spam, and more about using a bigger pool of skills for different occasions and synergies, which seems to be the case.
But yeah, right stick keeping the aim in the last input direction makes the most sense, but would still like to get it confirmed and hear about the devs’ iteration process behind it.
They really need to standardize mapping the face buttons to the back of the controller. Once you get used to playing with one, it’s just sooooooo much better and impossible to go back.

I’m an Xbox POE player… a unified economy would be huge, there are simply items that don’t exist in the Xbox economy, it’s very frustrating. The console buy out system is a must. Not having to visit other hideouts is amazing. I think it could even be improved with instant buyout. More filter options for the in game trade
I recommend "practicing" by playing Darksiders: Genesis . It's a top-down action game, that has couch co-op. You can play it on PC with controller. That's how I imagine PoE2 is going to play like.
Would be great if you or another attendee at the event could find out if:
- Controller + mouse can be switched between seamlessly, currently requires you to logout to the main menu to switch in PoE 1.
- Can we get access to the character preview screen from the controller inventory screen when playing on mouse and keyboard? it's a great way to view your character and it would be a shame to see this locked to one input type.
- How will loot work in PoE 2 when in party play? Playing through the campaign with a friend in PoE 1 can sometimes be a little awkward since the loot is distributed in a funny way. Do they have any plans to change this? Maybe just separate drops for each of you?

1. PS+, this surprised a lot of people. PoE1 on console doesn't require it, and most f2p games on PS dont require it. What's going on here?
2. Controller customization. Being able to rebond basically everything is a huge must-have.
3. Some PC players are concerned about abilities and content now needing to be designed for console and its restriction. How is GGG handling this?
4. A big one for me, will we be getting cross-progression for PoE1? My PS5 is better than my PC, but I can't bear to leave behind my years of cosmetics and MTX to play on my PS5.
Cross-progression is in the trailer, seems you're good there. Honestly, I think it was an oversight allowing people to play without PS+ and something that we'll see less and less as time goes on. Sony wants thier piece of the pie afterall. That said, and it's not 1 to 1 comparison, because it wasn't there on launch, but with Helldivers 2, they "advertised" you'd eventually need to have ps+ and then sold the game to people in countries that didn't have access to it, thereby creating a problem when they implemented it about a month ago (or at least announced they would be within a few weeks). The community review bombed them and basically got the whole thing reversed so PC players didn't need to have a PS+ sub to play. Now, this is a VERY apples and oranges conversation due to the nuances, though it is likely the reason WHY they were so clear and deliberate with their messaging in the trailer that the PS+ sub would be required. The fact that POE2 is free to play makes it a different case altogether than Helldivers 2. I only bring this up (and take this with a grain of salt, because I don't think GGG or Sony is wrong doing this in this case) because the community made their dissatisfaction known and the decision was changed by Sony. That said, they're not going to have to refund anything or try to spin something if this message is already out there in the open before beta, so I can't anticipate this going that way no matter how annoyed it makes the Playstation faithful.

Also, HD isn't really comparable since it's a first party paid game. Requiring PS+ for a third party f2p game is a new precedent.

The concern I came up with watching the trailer is the text that says ps plus required for online play when they revealed co-op (as long as we don't need ps plus to play on PC I'm fine, but I'm at least a little disappointed that you need plus to play "free" online games
Question: Are they going to making any changes to party play to make it worth while? Or will it only ever be worth it when in extremes like with an aurabot and mfer/culler.
Could you ask if couch coop is possible with one playing keyboard and mouse and the other playing a controller?

I was playing poe1 on pc , then we moved to NZ, had to sell my pc, bought a 2nd hand ps4 to play poe1 again,. I wish i can buy ps5 to play poe2, im excited at the same time sad coz can't afford a ps5 yet.. anyway enjoy, i have been following your updates..
My only hope, is they will NOT Paywall the EA. Outside of that - RF is a thing in PoE 2, so zero worries about the game from me. Would like to have even a glimpse at Endgame though.

The question is simple, how are they making the UI on consoles as fast/smooth as PC? How are controller players be able to compete in league economy with such as slow experience?
Honestly I'd be surprised if the didn't invite you, since you you cover a lot of poe. Also I'm interested in the behavior of the limitations of how far apart you can move frome one another on the shared screen in couch co-op, I'd guess you can't move outside the screen bounds. It'll be interesting to see how it affects dodging and such.
I know you're still technically one of the "smaller" content creators when it comes to PoE in general, but I don't think there's anyone that comes close in terms of PoE2 coverage specifically.
So, to me it seems like a no brainer to invite you. You put in the effort to carve out your "niche", you absolutely deserve to be there.
It will be very interesting to hear about your wife's experience in particular because the new player experience has historically been one of PoE1's biggest weaknesses.

The loot pick up and targeting of loot was a pain in the A$& UI was horrible. as well as the lack of pricing software for obvious reasons.

As a controller player I'd like to see a way to zoom in and out. It's not a feature in POE1 but it would be super welcomed for POE2.

Could you please ask them about the onboarding process for PoE2, maybe about the tutorials extends to more things like in game guides or videos, if they plan to include things like a build guide helper, filter builder (like Last Epoch) and a way to trade that's not just outside the game.
Mainly all of this for console as we'd have no way to easily do it.

Dear Talkative Tri! If you have the opportunity, could you be the "spokesman" for the Italian community? (or others too...)The question is: why is not possible to BUY a translation of the TEXT in POE as a Micritransaction? I mean: the dialoque and actors palaying them, are amazing on original language, no doubt on it! We don't want the audio track tranlated! But for us "poor peole" it will be great to have the choice to switch the TEXT dialogue overlay, and Skill tree, and gems explaination in our language! I can buy that for 20 or 30 or even 40 bucks without any hesitation. Now with the AI improvement is something that could cost almoust nothing to GGG, at the same time they will improve the base of player sooo much!
