    I love the look the aquarium gravel gives this!!! When there's leaves its gonna be even more stunning having the mix of warmer colors(the terracotta pot and caudex) and cooler colors(gravel and leaves). Is there an update video to this?

    This plant is well rooted in soil with lechuza. You only need to spray the tuber and it wakes up very quickly, takes root and begins to grow leaves. True, I always do this already in the warm season. I have a video of my Stephanie on my channel.

    It's a potato! 😂I had to look it up, it certainly looks interesting, very unusual. I love it when your cats make cameos, they are hilarious and adorable. Would be YT stars.😂

    Thank you for this! I just got my Stephania Erecta and can't wait to get started with it :D I have a question though... I live in Sweden and winters are... well, you know.... dark... I use plant growing lamps for my leafy friends and I wonder, if the Stephania will stay dormant through the whole winter, does it need much light or can I just keep it warm and with the little natural light I get? Thank you

      Found on UK Houseplants website: Once all of its leaves are gone, maintain a warm, dry location with little to no watering during this period. You can store the plant in a darker area until there are new signs of life, or keep it in the original location. Once spring comes to an end, increase the ambient temperature (or relocate to a sunnier area) to stimulate new growth in its roots and node (where the stem will regrow, at the bulb's top). Give the plant a good thorough water, diluted with a 'Houseplant' labelled fertiliser, and wait for the new growth. This could take either a matter of weeks or even months. Give the plant time and always keep the soil dry until the growth emerges.
      Hope that helps! 🥰

    I have a Sinningia leucotricha that has been dormant all winter, I thought it would come back on its own come spring but I haven't seen anything yet. I'm going to try this process with it and see if I have any success. Hopefully I haven't already killed it.

      Good luck!! I'm sure it's fine, they just seem to be reluctant to waking up 😂

      Thank you!! Ooh good to know, honestly I am expecting it to take like a year as everything seems to take a bit longer for me 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

    Hey, so I know it’s been a year so I sas just hoping maybe you could answer a couple of questions that I had for my stephania erecta. So i know they’re deciduous, but I was wondering if yours had its leaves fall off and go back into dormancy over the winter?? If so, did you have to do anything to wake it back up the following spring/growing season? Did it just grow back and if so, like around what time of year did it sprout up? Thank you so much in advance!!

    Did the Stephania root yet. I have had one 2 years no roots very frustrating.

    How often should you water it during the dormancy period?

    • @emma.greenwood
      @emma.greenwood  2 роки тому

      Taken from ukhouseplants . com:
      Allow the top half of the soil to dry out in between waters during blooms in autumn or winter. Once the pot feels light when lifted, compared to when you last watered it, this is the best time to rehydrate. Once the leaves begin to yellow or drop in succession, reduce the frequency of irrigations further to replicate its dormancy from late winter onwards. As long as the bulb never sits in soggy or standing water unnecessarily, it can be happy for years to come. It's always better to under-water a Stephania than over-do it, as they naturally grow in semi-dry conditions of Cambodia, Laos & Thailand. Under-watering symptoms include curled or crispy leaves, wilted foliage, yellowing leaves and stunted growth. Over-watering symptoms include yellowing or browning leaves, stunted growth, wilting and a rotten base. Avoid the soil becoming overly saturated due to the species' susceptibility to root rot and other soilborne diseases. If this has happened to your specimen, increase the intensity light somewhat with fewer irrigations - a fully softened over base most likely will spell the end of its life. Over-watering is commonly caused by too little light or heat or a lack of drying soil in between irrigations. We would take the plant out of its pot and have a quick scan of its root systems, too.

    Cette plante s'enracine bien dans un sol à lechuza. Il suffit de pulvériser le tubercule et il se réveille très vite, prend racine et commence à pousser des feuilles. C'est vrai, je fais toujours ça déjà pendant la saison chaude. J'ai une vidéo de ma Stéphanie sur ma chaîne.
