      Agreed, it's a bummer when I search up "Haunted Cosmos" and every video has a the red "already watched" bar under it.

    The thing that sounds awkward with Tituba’s statements is the semi-contradictory aspects. You wonder if she started saying these things to appear to be helpful, so they wouldn’t keep accusing her. Sometimes “witnesses” to an event may make-up details, names, or other things, to try and appear helpful, because they are scared of being blamed (or to appear more important).

    "Tituba confirmed that Parris had beaten a confession out of her and then coached her on what to say and how to say it when she was first questioned."
    This is a quote from Tituba's wikipedia page which itself cites "More Wonders of the Invisible World" which was published in 1700.

    OK, this is weird. (or maybe not) about an hour or so after listening to this episode, I was scrolling through Facebook and in the thumbnails of a suggested article are the two women crouching over the deer. 😶 The article was about trail cam photos, and nothing about them appeared in the article (click-bait), but, how strange...

    Bi or Tri-weekly episodes would be great and boost the channel's growth, but I'm really grateful for any crumbs that fall from these guys' table! So many interesting topics to delve into and view through Christ-colored glasses. So sick of materialistic or naturalistic perspectives on the supernatural. Stay in your lane, devil!🖕👹

    Were the plages because of witchcraft? Much more so because of idolatry.

    • @theclown3967
      @theclown3967 7 місяців тому +6

      The plagues were primarily a judgement upon the Egyptian people, Pharaoh first, the people second. They were also a judgement upon the gods of Egypt. As most of the plagues had effects which killed the animals the Egyptians saw as a avatars of their gods.

    I'll love your podcast. But your explanation of Iceland is incorrect and misleading.
    Catholic missionaries not Protestant converted Iceland such that Christianity was the official religion by 1000.
    Only by the force of the Danish King were the Icelandic Catholic Bishops murdered, and Protestantism forced on Icelandic Christians.

    • @hauntedcosmos_
      @hauntedcosmos_  6 місяців тому +1

      The catholic conversion was heavily syncretistic and pragmatic. Its legitimacy is, at least, worthy of doubt.

    • @matthewweston643

      @@hauntedcosmos_ I'm no expert on the Ecclesial history of Iceland. You probably aren't either. Although you certainly may have read and know more than I.
      Still.
      Monasteries were built and thrived for Centuries.
      I'm sure, like everywhere at all times, thee was heterodoxy and coercion.
      Yet, you must admit. If the King of Denmark takes over your island and executes your Bishop... A person might find it rather PRAGMATIC to become a Protestant. Yes?
      On the face of it, without any additional data, wouldn't one question the LEGITIMACY of such a top down coerced conversion?

    • @matthewweston643
      @matthewweston643 6 місяців тому

      @@hauntedcosmos_ Look, my point isn't Catholics good Protestants bad. I'm sure it is highly complicated.
      As I'm sure you'd say?
      With Christ honored, at least to some degree, in every Trinitarian temple.
      Even those with deep flaws and errors in their Biblical understanding.
      I'm sure you agree?

    • @matthewweston643
      @matthewweston643 6 місяців тому +1

      (Thought I posted this already?)
      I'm not an expert on Icelandic Ecclesiology. Perhaps you are. Sounds like you certainly have read a little or a lot about it.
      Still...500 years of Christianity proceeded the Protestant takeover of Iceland. Monasteries were built and thrived for Centuries.
      Was there syncretism? I'll take your word for it.
      The island became Protestant, however, when the King of Denmark did so by force. Executing Catholic Bishops.
      Yes?
      If I was an Icelander, I might find it pragmatic to become Protestant. Wouldn't you?
      Isn't such a top down Evangelization at least somewhat suspect?
      Wouldn't it be reasonable to at least question it's legitimacy?
      I'm sure it's complex.
      I do think dismissing 500 years of Christianity in a region is not being fair to the complexity of humans and their relationship with Faith.
      Isn't there much about modern American Christianity that is synchronicitic and of questionable legitimacy?
